Didn't get to watch my Giants play because I was working but got to keep up on the live gamecast online and reading live analysis when the opportunity arose. Pretty impressed with the Giants - the defense has really stepped it up after our high spending free agency off-season. We shut down the best O-line in football last week by stuffing the Cowboy's running game. This game we shut down Drew Brees to under 250 yards passing. Eli passed for over 300 yards and had to deal with two fumbles by his O and multiple dropped TD passes by OBJ and his TE Donnell. So it showed some grit to hold on and win a game against Brees and Company. Our mistakes were correctable and had nothing to do with talent. Just gotta tighten some things up. GG Big Blue!

Tuned in second half. This game is crazy. Rodgers looks unusually anxious to me, but Packers still alive in this game after that improbable TD run just now.

They barely beat the Jags last week.

Awesome game! Great win! Scared to say it, but Bradford looked pretty darn good. Not going to get my hopes up though.

Not just "pretty darn,' he looked damn good. He stood tall and put it on the money while he was about to get creamed more than once. I expect zin will be in here shortly to sing Sam's praises and reveal he was a Yuuuuge Bradford believer all along.

Stafford might be the Lions best RB as well as their starting QB.

Prior to the game former Pats TE Christian Fauria talked about how Jimmy G needed to learn how to fall like Brady. Don't know if it would have made a difference in that play he got hurt but it was pretty interesting that Fauria noticed that and made that comment.
Fauria is an idiot. He only has that job because of his being an ex-Patriot. I heard Fauria say that and I changed the station. Fauria was the color guy on the Kraft production televised pre-season games. Fauria is doing an impromptu hip hop dance, which the idiot producer is showing, while a Patriot defensive lineman, I think Flowers, knocked down the opposing quarterback, caused a fumble, and scored a TD. Everyone missed the live action, because of Fauria. Now if he said that JG needs to not hold the ball as long while being pursued, that is throw it out of bounds, that is one thing. But JG needs to learn how to fall? Ya, Fauria is an idiot.

Firing Roman was a way for Rex to protect himself and his brother. Greg was viewed as a potential head coach down the road and having him there would have made it easier to shitcan the Ryans and turn the program over to Roman. With him getting tossed under the bus Buffalo doesn't have another guy on staff that seems like a logical long term plan. Rex is likely gone at the end of the season, but if Roman was still there Rex probably wouldn't have made it past week 6.

"According to multiple sources, Bills owners Terry and Kim Pegula convened private meetings Friday morning with several offensive standouts to discuss the offense...

Rex Ryan -- the coach who said the decision to fire Roman two games into the season was "my move, without question" -- was not present for these meetings. He wasn't in the room. Ryan also wasn't pleased when he learned of the nature of them, according to one source briefed on his thinking. But Bills sources insisted Sunday morning that Rex was fine with the meetings between the owners and players."

You may be on to something about Roman.

Still not making a SB with Sam Bradford. ;)

High bar, but the dude looked far better than I ever imagined he would, doing two things really, really well that I truly didn't think he had in him . . . standing in against a fierce rush and throwing the long ball. He threw some really pretty ones, and did so in high pressure situations. Getting to the SB is a team effort, but Sam Bradford, of all people, looked like THE MAN yesterday.

I wish the guy well. Why not? But, as an Eagles fan, I'm torn because him elevating the Vikes will drive down value of the 1st round pick we got from them even as it pushes up the other conditional 4th round pick to a higher one.

But, HEY, zin, I'ma steal your greenie grin since the smilies we have ain't cutting it. :D In vB we lordly mod types could go into edit mode and see the underlying code for any icon, but not in XF, so all I could do was cut 'n paste, like I was in kindergarten.

Use the Force Wrench, Luke Dave! Even in places where I can't edit, I can quote and do that.

I don't think Bradford was ever a bad QB. He was never top tier QB, but good enough for most teams. His problem was his knees are made of glass.

I don't dislike the guy, I just have yet to see him finish a season, and Bradford also suffered under the same sort of issues that plagued Alex Smith for the first 4 or 5 seasons of his career: new OC every year, garbage teams, garbage coaches.

Dude almost left the game with what looked like a broken hand, but it seems they just took him back and bled him to get him back on the field. Al and Chris didn't talk about it, but when he returned, the camera spent a lot of time on that new large and bloody wound where that massive swelling used to be. You'll never see me betting on such things, but I'd be shocked if he finished the season healthy (well, I don't bet on such things particularly because that is some bad mojo in this case, aside from the general foolishness of betting on sports in general)

Sam Bradford is going to have a season ending injury if the Vikings offensive line plays like that for the rest of the season.

Depending on how the iggles look tonight, that entire division may be looking like a dumpster first.

Ha ha, you could have fooled me with all the posts you made gleefully dancing on his wittle haid. :tongueout:

Anyway, yeah, I get the unfortunate arc of his career re: multiple OCs, crap OF lines and crap receivers and all, but what I saw of him as an Eagle last year was a) a guy still unwilling or unable to air it out, which you need to stretch any defense in order to open up the short pass game and the run game and b) no grace or guts under pressure, which a QB HAS to have to survive in the NFL. Plus, there was just this general "deer in the headlights" look on his face, which was never confidence inspiring.

But, hey, if the guy gets to fulfill his first round pick potential in Minny, then I'm happy for him. And if he does suffer yet another major injury, well, he'll have the millions he's already earned to fall back on.

Nope, he is correct. There's a reason why Brady after 15 years has never injured himself from falling. He goes limp and rolls when he can. I learned how to fall from mountain biking.

I miss Tirico

I really liked Tirico and perpetually-drunk Mike Patrick when they were on SNF. But I like Tirico, I guess they brought him in to take over for Al Michaels when his skin finally stops animating. They recognize Tirico's experience and skills would be suited for an increasingly sloshed Collinsworth.

I'm one of the few people who likes Collinsworth, though he does seem to be degrading a little. I'll definitely miss Michaels when he retires.

The Eagles' receivers need to buy Wentz a house or something after this game. Absolute failure to execute.
