World Tour mode...I really hate this crap where you have to play the same song about 4 different times in order to advance. I'll have to do the challenge mode stuff to unlock some songs...just really pissing me off right now. (Played it with my cousins last night)

I really thought the drums would be better this time around but it almost sounds like they are worse :(

I'm using RB1 instruments (though I always use the GH3 guitar) until I get the GH:WT bundle for Christmas. We'll see how those instruments work out... i've never had problems with GH guitars from GH1 through now, so hopefully their drums will be as good.

Mine work perfect and I was even able to FC a song which I've never been able to do because of my sketchy RB1 drums. I have seen alot of complaints from some about crosstalk between yellow and blue pads so maybe I got lucky.

YO! I saw the RB Bass Guitar for 360 at Best Buy yesterday, has 2 strum bars and other cool knobs, the one they had on the shelf was busted and they had no more in stock. Didnt even know they were coming out with a bass specific guitar. Dont think it should be on the shelf yet.

I just saw that today at my best buy.... they had a bunch of them though. They looked pretty cool for people who really play bass and want to do the 2 finger strumming thing.

You rarely have to repeat songs to advance... you can go to other cities, or other venues within that city. Sometimes some of the "sets" will include songs you've already played... but you can always do a different set. I got up around 300 stars yesterday and was never forced to play anything in particular.. if I didn't want to play a song I just moved to another city or set.

and if you are just trying to unlock songs, playing in the world tour is NOT what you want to do. Do the challenges. All you have to do is unlock a challenge containing a song and that song becomes unlocked, you don't even have to play the challenge. So basically you have to play the challenge for your instrument for each level, and then play the first marathon challenge and that should unlock every song in the game.

The main thing I noticed different, is it had a split strumbar that you could strum independently of each other and a ledge above for your thumb, so you could use a two finger strumming method like you might do on a real bass. You could double strum, one finger strumming the first half of the strum bar and the other finger strumming the other one...

I submitted an RMA for the drumpads last night (cross-talk between yellow/blue) and just got an email that they shipped the replacement. Very quick.

It has 2 strums for basslike picking, its a full size (albeit still plastic) has some dials and such, longer neck that we bassist love and is just freaking cool. This.

Is RB implementing more than 1 string?

If no, I still don't see the point of the second strum...

The longer neck IS cool though

Because real Bass is usually but not always played by alternately plucking your fingers up on the string (best way I can describe it) instead of strumming up and down.

So this one will let you play Bass this way much faster than you normally could with one strum bar. I have a friend who for some reason refuses to alternate strum the bass, he only strums up and he misses fast passages sometimes because of it. It makes me mad but maybe this will help him.

These are out. I've seen them at the local Gamestop but when I was looking at it in the box, I couldn't see a tremelo bar...

I saw one of the 2-strum bass guitars on a Best Buy shelf early last week. So if they aren't supposed to be released yet, BB just doesn't care. I hadn't even heard of the bass guitar until I saw it at BB.

Yeah I was going to say, my buddy plays bass and does just fine with the RB1 guitar. I haven't seen the new bass controller so I'm having a hard time picturing how it really helps.

I cannot play real bass, so I have no experience, but I don't think this split-strum bass guitar will necessarily let you play faster, but rather just more life-like by strumming with two fingers instead of your pointer finger and thumb by strumming up and down. In my mind, it does seem like you'd be able to strum faster with the 2-finger method since you don't have the full arc downward with the one strum bar, but what do I know.

re ^^

It makes no difference whether or not there is a second strum bar or not. The recoil of the strum bar is such that it always "snaps" back into place by the time the next note hits. In fact, I would daresay it would be more uncomfortable as you will have to effectively manipulate 2 different buttons instead of just 1 button.

But that long neck is so sexy.

I've played bass and guitar for 21 years and I don't have a problem with it either. I guess I misunderstood your question. It seems like it could help someone like my friend who only upstrums and can never keep up but I'd never buy it.

I went to go pick it up today and neither target or BB had just the game in stock. I've never really had a problem picking up games during release week so I'm kind of wondering what's going on.

So I've had the chance to get through most of the world tour on drums maybe 20 songs or so left to unlock. just some thoughts...
-drums are much harder now for more songs... many songs are arthritis inducing, as opposed to just Run To the Hills in RB1 and I haven't even gotten to the hardest ones.
-no solo mode ala RB1 = fail. Have no idea why they took this out. I play the majority of the time alone on drums and want to know if i'm getting better at songs. I also like to see my list with how many stars I got. They should show both stars and score.
-a lot of the songs you have to play to get to the good songs absolutely suck... ie whacha want... that song is just terrible for RB.
-don't get the RB 2 wireless drums yet. They have all sorts of issues with hits transferring across the pads.
-calibration is better than RB1, but still broken. I had to do a lot of tweaking to get the right settings at least on my parents rear projection TV. They should have left presets in at least for guidelines
-still some bugs, hopefully they will be ironed out with a patch
-20 free DLC songs not available yet unfortunately, I presume they will come out around the time GH:WT comes out so they have a hand to play against them.
overall the game is more like RB 1.5. But it's still RB and worth every penny :p 8.5/10 IMO

I agree that the loss of a traditional solo mode is sad. Like you, I play alone a majority of the time and would like just a simpler, clean interface for playing through songs.

I like the calibration much better than RB1. I could never get RB1 calibrated on my Philips LCD, but RB2 seems to be almost perfect. If you look in the manual under the calibration section, it gives you the values to preset for different kinds of TV's.

I also always play single player, but I have no issue at all with the loss of "traditional" single player mode, since all of the modes can be played single player. However, they definitely do need to patch in a star display in the quickplay song list and it would be nice if they would allow you to filter out the RB1 and DLC tracks to only display the RB2 tracks. You can sort by location, but it's still kind of annoying to have to scroll down to the list and be unable to sort by any other criteria while looking at RB2 songs. I'd like to be able to sort by difficulty and only see the RB2 tracks.

The other thing I've noticed that seems kind of broken is the "random" song sets. Either their randomizer is badly broken or it is simply excluding RB2 songs from the random picker because every "random" pick so far has chosen a RB1 or DLC song. I have yet to get a single RB2 song chosen by the randomizer.

I want to know how craptastic the Wii version is going to be. I haven't bought either GH or RB simply from the standpoint that the Wii versions have been crippled. Anyone have any info on it?
