<< Bush beat McCain simply because he had a huuuuuge amount of money to spend >>

It was that plus the republican leadership expressly locked out McCain the other nominees, which just isn't right. That proves to me the best leaders will never be able to run "within" a major party (I'm sure democrats did the same thing).

tagej,

I think you'll find poor overall voter turn-out this year, simply due to limited choice and apathy. Buchanan, intentionally or not, destroyed the reform party (as Perot did in '96). Nobody really knows about the other third-parties so no help there. That first debate was expected to bring in 60 million viewers -- only 44 showed up. This is not an exciting election year.

After yesterday Im afraid to agree or disagree with anyone. HEEE HEE

I think you are right. What we need is a little less labeling. Have you or has anyone ever met someone rational who was 100% liberal or conservative. I think not.

<< Doesn't the fact that Bush is not smooth with words say something positive to you? It does for me, it says he has some integrity, and isn't trying to feed us a line of bullcrap like a certain Democrat >>

Yes, it shows up as inexperience and lack of knowledge to me. He only job in public service has been his 2 time election as governor.

Hmm, perhaps the next president will keel over dead on election night giving the presidency to their vice-pres. The 2 vice presidential candidates are many times more presidential than their team mates.

Good Point,

I said last night that I wish these 2 were running instead of B & G.

Cheney won the night whatever that means. The Senator (and I like him) came across like the actor who plays the Boss in Norm and was the father in the ALF sit-com.

Dont think they changed anyones minds but were easier to take. Who do you want to see on your TV for the next 4 years?

well, I migrated over here from AGN (rip) and I must say, I think I was on the wrong forum. every political debate over there was strictly conservatives, I was the only one ever arguing the liberal side.

I used to work with a Ph.D. chemist a few years ago. The man could not complete a full sentence without stumbling over his words. The company we worked for required people in his position to give technical lectures on their work. He could not do it, he was absolutely terrified of talking in front of large groups. He was excused from this because the man was brilliant. He led meetings with no trouble, directed research, filed and received many patents.
The point is, because someone stumbles over a word now and then has absolutely no bearing on their intelligence or ability to direct work.
Should the president be a good speaker, yes and I believe that G.W. Bush did a more then adequate job in the debates and will improve as time goes on.
Now some people on these boards have been running a campaign to try and convince others that G.W Bush is not intelligent. That is their attempt at a smear job with no proof or evidence to back them up. In fact in a comparison of college grades Bush is ahead of Gore.

It all comes down to gravitas, todays buzz word for a manly command presence, lacking Wisdom.

Let's see, Hitler, Mao, Stalin, Herod, Judas, Clinton, Gore, all have "gravitas".

GWB does not.

Hmmmmm....looks like the choice is a no brainer...:)

<< What we have here folks is a case of the Pot calling the kettle Black >>

What we have here is a very basic question of..."in whom do you Trust?"

Are you easily put into subjection by a glib, intelligent, polished , murderer or thief?

Are your base instincts for food, clothing and a life of ease so strong, you will allow the "promise" of an Overlord and his government, to attempt to dry your every tear... steal your vote?

Or like our Founding Fathers, do you long for a Nation whose Leaders believe that every Man is a pioneer and able to create his own peace with God, and wish to do everything in their power to get government out of his way?

In God we Trust...:)
