If it weren't for the fact that the other guy is Trump, I would find this thread incredibly amusing. What a terrible time to shit one's pants, Democratic Party.

It can be both in this case. Trump getting elected and down ballot damage would threaten their accomplishments as well as the country's future.

Either way this does not put the party in alignment with it's presumptive nominee who's internal support has all but collapsed. Any expectation that the party will not move against you out of loyalty at this point is foolhardy.

That's the risk one takes with no exit strategy for an 80+ year old.
They had four years to come up with one. Apparently holding out and winning re-election was the only play.

The problem with aging is, you do lose your mind. Not every person who needs to exit is going to choose grace. It needs to be chosen for them, along with a nursing home. Fact that no one could plan ahead is our current disaster. Governing requires planning. If one party cannot govern, the other will gladly step in to fill the void. Even if their plan is fire and brimstone. But we knew that too, and could only stand by and watch as old age defied reality.

I mean it's insulting to our intelligence that they feel betrayed. Biden and his team have literally betrayed the country for months by hiding what a lot of us could see was probably the case, but they did hide it well so there was no good case against his candidacy. I find that the biggest betrayal of all.

I think if we win this election and when more and more information comes out about the whole process with Biden this year, it's going to be a shit show and a condemnation of Biden and his circle.

From listening to AOC's recent IG live, it seems like one of the big hold ups is a large contingent in the party completely beholden to the donor class that seems to want scrap the whole ticket and is generally filled with pie in the sky implausible bullshit (ie, no real plan), instead of taking the obvious route of Harris.

I saw that but if Biden steps back, endorses Kamala and his delegates to her in the same speech, and all the major Dems jump right onboard and endorse, which they will, those delusional people will be quashed

Yeah I'm doubtful they're going to get their wish on that since the donors don't appear to coalesce behind any alternative to her. In such a case the party leaders will have the most sway and we know which way they are leaning.

Yes, the writing is on the wall on how this could go down. But they would have had a better and more persuasive argument if it wasn't always couched as "someone else" without actually having ideas lined up.

Do you honestly think Biden can win but Harris can't? Right now Biden's election path are people that will never vote for Trump. He is not going to get anyone to break towards him, which is why Hillary lost in 2016, late deciders overwhelming broke to Trump.

This is just head in the sand bullshitary. If Pelosi says he needs to drop, he needs to drop. We need a candidate that can give a coherent interview if we actually want people to believe Dems are better than Trump. The likelihood of holding either house of Congress with Joe bombing out is about zero.

This narrative isn't going away either. Trump has been shot, nominated a VP, and held a convention and Biden needing to drop out is still the number one topic of conversation.
