If it weren't for the fact that the other guy is Trump, I would find this thread incredibly amusing. What a terrible time to shit one's pants, Democratic Party.
I think the interests of Obama, Pelosi, Schumer, and others, is not really about their own interests being at risk - it's 99% worried about the fate of this country in November. Unless you mean that is their own interests.
Yeah, he could've stepped out gracefully after the debate, he chose to need a revolt.Reading a lot of complaints and anger from inside the Biden core advisors that he was not provided a more dignified way to drop out of the race. Which ignores reality that he got told privately in explicit terms some time ago by the three most important leaders in the party not named Barack Obama that their members had lost confidence he could win and that he should withdraw. Most of the party has withheld fire so far. Things do not get more dignified from here if he choses to drag things out.
That's the risk one takes with no exit strategy for an 80+ year old.If it weren't for the fact that the other guy is Trump, I would find this thread incredibly amusing. What a terrible time to shit one's pants, Democratic Party.
I mean it's insulting to our intelligence that they feel betrayed. Biden and his team have literally betrayed the country for months by hiding what a lot of us could see was probably the case, but they did hide it well so there was no good case against his candidacy. I find that the biggest betrayal of all.It can be both in this case. Trump getting elected and down ballot damage would threaten their accomplishments as well as the country's future.
Either way this does not put the party in alignment with it's presumptive nominee who's internal support has all but collapsed. Any expectation that the party will not move against you out of loyalty at this point is foolhardy.
As much as I hate the "dam about to burst" stuff it is however overtopping today for sure.
I saw that but if Biden steps back, endorses Kamala and his delegates to her in the same speech, and all the major Dems jump right onboard and endorse, which they will, those delusional people will be quashedFrom listening to AOC's recent IG live, it seems like one of the big hold ups is a large contingent in the party completely beholden to the donor class that seems to want scrap the whole ticket and is generally filled with pie in the sky implausible bullshit (ie, no real plan), instead of taking the obvious route of Harris.

Clearly the answer is to embrace more rent seeking from the billionaire class.Ah yes, let’s ignore the results from actual voters and listen to the donor class. That’s what Americans really want!/s

Yes, the writing is on the wall on how this could go down. But they would have had a better and more persuasive argument if it wasn't always couched as "someone else" without actually having ideas lined up.Yeah I'm doubtful they're going to get their wish on that since the donors don't appear to coalesce behind any alternative to her. In such a case the party leaders will have the most sway and we know which way they are leaning.
Works great for the GOP, let's do it too.Ah yes, let’s ignore the results from actual voters and listen to the donor class. That’s what Americans really want!/s
Do you honestly think Biden can win but Harris can't? Right now Biden's election path are people that will never vote for Trump. He is not going to get anyone to break towards him, which is why Hillary lost in 2016, late deciders overwhelming broke to Trump.2016 is calling, asking for a repeat.
Yeah, gonna stick to my 0% prediction.
This is just head in the sand bullshitary. If Pelosi says he needs to drop, he needs to drop. We need a candidate that can give a coherent interview if we actually want people to believe Dems are better than Trump. The likelihood of holding either house of Congress with Joe bombing out is about zero.Confidence level when you are basically saying "the only poll that matters is Election Day" :
