The 'shitting your pants' talk is part of it, it's minimizing what's very obvious and again, commonly shared concern. You can say pants shitting all you want but donors, senators, and reps are calling on him to bow out. That's not chicken little talk.

Silly me and here I thought this was a discussion board.

Please continue yelling at the clouds then, I’ll just watch.

But you haven't wanted to discuss, you've wanted compliance and agreement. You literally just described commentary to the alternative as 'pants shitting'. Is that really discussion to you?

I suggest you go check the posts you quoted of me and while you are at you can check your replies.

One of us is interested in having a discussion and the other just wants to be heard.

You’ve made it perfectly clear you aren’t interested in having any sort of discussion so you can fuck right off now.

What about if you replace her with Warnock at the head of the ticket?

A few problems ... you run the risk of alienating women voters. And, he's nowhere near the name recognition or experience of Harris. He's fine as a senator, but it would be a very transparent pander.

And this is the problem with all the "fantasy football" type lineups that are now coming out of the woodwork. They all have negatives/downsides, they're just not as front and center as "Biden is old" as it's been drilled into everyone's head for the last 5+ years. Generic candidate is great, because it's something that everyone internally pictures as an ideal candidate. They have no warts. Well, that's not reality and there is no perfect candidate.

This is obviously not going anywhere. In the future, when Democrats, or anyone else, is expressing concern with the direction things are going, please don't refer to their commentary as 'pants shitting' lest you look like a jackass when half the sitting congressmen say the same goddamn thing.

Trump's spent the last 4 solid years painting Biden as old and incompetent. In theory he'd have 4 months to try to define Harris in a manner that doesn't come off as overtly racist. Seems like a taller order than simply hammering Biden on his age for the rest of the year. Possibly hence why R groups are threatening to sue (impotently) if he comes off the ticket.

It’s pants shitting when you refuse to game out an alternative. I’m sorry me calling out bullshit when I see it is upsetting to you, I’m a both sides guy in that respect;)

There’s some definite upsides to Harris as well as some downsides. The balance of these are difficult to assess.

Biden’s upsides and downsides are well known with the exception of the Democratic Party support as a whole. As you’ve been documenting that support continues to crumble which is shifting the balance negative.

As stated, I gave an alternative long ago, Harris/Pete. I think it's a fine ballot and will do as well as any alternative, and it at least doesn't look hypocritical. As a bonus, all attacks on it from Republicans look either racist or anti-LGBTQ.

Anything that gets Pete on the ballot I’m all for. The question is how does that work? Voters voted for Biden, not for Harris. If he steps aside, will there be a backlash if she is the new nominee? If he doesn’t step aside then what? Whoever the nominee is has to win and they can only win if democrats are united in their support. That goes for Biden if he stays in or anyone else, period, that’s the reality we are in.

That's a loss in PA and in turn the general.

Biden steps down, VP becomes Pres, claims reelection, picks new VP?

Has to be a straight white man VP and not from a West Coast or east coast blue state.

I got to say the insane ego and delusional state of mind of Biden and his inner circle is pretty scary. Now I'm starting to feel like behind the scenes he's getting a lot of pressure and they really just want him to bow out gracefully. I don't think he knows how. And nobody in his inner circle either. They are completely out of their minds.

At this point I won't be surprised if Jill and Joe Biden are taken out of the White House in straight jackets with the Hannibal lecter face mask on them.

The warning that he ran against his own voters wishes definitely pointed to an ego thing, I definitely did not think this was going to be that bad.

And does keeping Joe result in winning PA and the general?

I believe PA can be held by Biden yes,

They showed their true colors in 2016.. PA is very much in play with Trump on the ballot.

general.. I don't know!

I know people will say generic dem will do that but no.. some candidates just have that special connection with a state's electorate..

Like Bush and Trump stole FL twice, what should normally be a blue state.

Also Ohio isn't a swing state with Trump but could be with someone else.

These are the facts on the ground, in my opinion, but let’s understand Democratic support for what it really is, a deeply suppressed feeling they do not deserve to win hence self destruction when winning gets real.

“Oh my! Our fate is in the stars, let’s run a different candidate to insure we fail because if we don’t we will fail. Please please Joe, guit and tell everybody you are as worthless as we feel because we ourselves can never admit to that.”

I am watching Ari Melbourne’s fact based Political Analysis July 10 show and he made the same point I did in this thread. Nobody can predict what will happen in politics. Compare that simple fact with all the catastrophizing going on in this thread, how clairvoyants we have here. You would think it’s a Republican convention.

Oh yeah? A lot of us predicted this would happen before Biden even ran again. I'm sorry some of y'all couldn't and still can't see the giant neon signs blazing 'THIS IS A REALLY DUMB AND RISKY CHOICE'

I think Pelosi misspoke. And George Clooney? Movie star celeb. Maybe he should be more circumspect and not try so hard to be an influencer here. A lot of people who have a public persona do and say things to get attention, whether they realize it or not.

The problem is that right now, Biden is looking like he's on a severe downslide from where he was a year ago, let alone four.

It doesn't take someone who follows politics to follow that on through. Nobody thinks he's going to get "better" when his problem is age. What will the POTUS be like in a year? That scares people. I reckon I'm in the minority when I say I wouldn't care if the VP took over. I would be concerned if someone lost their judgement, and frankly that seems like Biden right now.

Florida isn't really normally a blue state; it's purple at best. Looking back over the last few decades the GOP has won more presidential elections than not. I live in a county that went for Biden (barely) and there aren't many of those.

I didn't vote for Biden in the primary mainly because it's not hard to see he'd be 82 when he finishes his first term. I liked Warren but she's now 75 and even that's too old to be starting a grueling 4 year job IMO.

But it is what it is. The bed has been made years ago and now we are going to lie in it.
