I'm absolutely not a needy person and I'm not sure how you made that leap when all I meant is people who like to control others are selfish. You took exception so clearly you fit the bill. I rarely call people on my phone and when I do it is important so they answer. I do the same. Most of my calls are less than 1 minute and the majority of those are less than 30 seconds.

I did not mean you in specific. I am talking about people who feel that it is my obligation to answer my phone so they can 'chat' with me. If I want to chat I'll answer, if not I won't. If the person can't handle that, then they are needy and not someone I'm likely to remain friends with.

Most of the time on the phone is spent in pointless small talk. The odds of there being a bad misunderstanding increases drastically when dealing with voice. There is only a few things that are not done better over email, and those are done better face 2 face then voice.

As for personal friends and family I look on CID to decide if I want to talk to them right now or not. If not I let it go and call them back when I feel like it. Don't like it? Too bad. I probably don't want a needy person like you as a friend anyway.

I agree. I rarely answer my phone unless it's my SO, boss, his boss, an owner of the company, or I'm expecting a call from you. Otherwise it ends up being a colossal waste of my time.


....granted, this is for a work phone. If I didn't have to carry a cellphone for work I wouldn't have a cell. Actually, scratch that - I'd have one, but I wouldn't give out the number.

That's pretty stupid, and you should stop associating with him. That, or leave all your messages as a series of one-word voicemails. Read him the Gettysburg Address that way. That way he has to sit around and listen to:

lol your first point is actually pretty good. I like that :laugh: If that's how you roll and people keep calling you, I suppose that makes them the idiot.

Regarding your second point, I see what you mean now. Makes sense. I do that pretty rarely - usually if I am about to sit down for dinner. For the most part I always answer my phone.

My phone is exists so that I can call whoever I want, not so anyone who wants to can call me.

Edit: Since the phone company insists on allowing anyone who acquires a certain 10 digit number to cause my phone to ring, I check the ID and quite often ignore it. People just call you up for such stupid things.

I am incapable of having a conversation on a cell phone save the calls that last for less than a minute, "I'm on my way" etc. I get way too distracted to effectively talk on the cell phone, texts and face to face ftw, fuck the calls, I only used 21 minutes last month, lol.
