8Pack @OCuk claims AMD is ready with next gen GPU flagship. On top of that 290X is not fully unlocked chip and 295X is possibly heading to the market to put direct pressure on 780ti.

AMD already have its next gen high end part ready. They have had for a while.

They also have a full fat Hawaii XT up there sleeves this being said Nvidia will not be able to do there milking of the consumer as they so often have,

290X is not full fat!!!

The Contingency is ready

As usual NDA stops me from saying very much. Yes I do have more info but I cant share it.

Videocardz.com have an article on that:

As long as we believe that this comment is true, and I have no reason to believe it’s not, then we might finally see a real competitor for 780 TI. It doesn’t look like NVIDIA is planning to launch its GTX 780 TI 6GB anytime soon, so it would be a perfect time for Radeon R9 295X release.

GTX 780ti has been released since November 2013. I would think AMD is late to the party if they consider competing with the GTX 780ti (which I thought the already R9 290x was competing with).

Nvidia already did 8 months of milking with that overpriced card.

There was a rumor a month or two back something about AMD releasing a new high end card in the summer to replace its top end, maybe this is it.

That is bull. The only thing AMD are going to be releasing is their new generation chips sometime in Autumn.

I'd expect as always the top end chips to appear first with the 390x and 390 and then a month after that for the weaker chips to be released like the 280x, 270x and 260x.

Maybe they're developed a new reference cooler and this is their "field test," so to speak?

sounds like an attempt to down play the delay with 20nm chips and get the market hyped about more 28nm chips.

I, for one, am not buying it.

As it is not much can rival the OEM Reference 290X at 1180 x 1500 Mhz under a water block with a +0. 142 mV offset operating between 32 to 60C and not throttle - Not even the nVidia 780Ti.

I dont get why anyone would be hyped for a new Hawaii GPU with say 3072 shaders?
We are talking maybe less than 10% increase over R9 290X. Maybe beating GTX 780 Ti by 5% or something.

The only card people should want is Tonga for those who want better efficiency and R9 390X for those who want performance.

 AMD will always trail behind an all mighty, Nvidia!

There must be reason why the 295x2 is called as such. Why not just the 295 or a 290x2? Wonder what is actually going on behind the scene.

Also, I will be pissed if the rumors are true that the Hawaii xt based cards are actually from castrated die's.

Will you buy 390X?

I'm moving to my new house in July.

I think I will skip next gen of CPUs and GPU cards. My girlfriend is also annoyed by all my purchses and she thinks I upgrade too often.

I might keep my Quad R9 290x and i7 4930k for another year....(this is if I can resist)

Also, the few improvements we have seen over the last two years scare me to inject another 6000$ in my rig for all the hardwares and watercooling gears just for a 5-10% gain in performance.

For the first time in 3 years I might sit back and watch the market move.

Also, I'm not bound to AMD, if nVidia has something better and the same price to offer I'll be on this boat. But according to the past 2-3 years again, they might be greedy for the same performance as AMD.

So AMD is pulling an Nvidia ish move here.

Can't say I am too happy about it.
But its business, its my fault of expecting a business to be "Noble". They are all the same.

Sigh.
Now if some of the 290Xs (including mine) can be unlocked to this new card, I might be a little bit happy.

But I wouldn't hold my breath.

GTX 880 will be a monster.

Although you might want to wait for refresh if money is a problem.

Good stuff, man.
