We spoke to sources familiar with the matter, who agreed to comment on condition of anonymity.
"I don’t know why this rumor persists, but there is absolutely no such product. For a modest sum, anyone could xray the die of a 290X and determine this for themselves," our source said.
Our source also noted that the recent W9100 workstation GPU is a 44 CU part. If a 48 CU part did indeed exist, a recent workstation product would be an ideal candidate to launch such an ASIC, which could then trickle down into future Radeon products. A similar approach was taken by NVIDIA with their GeForce Titan product, with a chip that began its life as a Quadro part. As the W9100 does not feature a 48CU ASIC, however, it is unlikely that such an ASIC exists at all.
There's no proof of this imaginary card and the information given to us by our source explains that the existence of this card is something fabricated by hoping souls. Unfortunately, this rumor ends here.
you can already get that for less money. buy a R9 290 tri x and overclock it.
It seems like this Rumor is declared to be wrong:

Several rumors have been spread declaring that AMD's R9 290X is possibly not the 'full fat' Hawaii card. This revelation found on 8Pack some time ago is wrong according to our sources. Many tech websites have been writing articles ever since. But now it appears that also the first indication to start this rumor has been removed:

This is confusing. If it's fake, why would two websites sacrifice all of their credibility just to make it up?
It's not the first time videocardz does something like this...

None of these sites, including blackhole (lol), can be considered solid sources of anything. So two less than solid sites and pro overclocker confirming and one less than solid site not confirming.
Will just have to wait and see if it launches.

Right. Anyway, you can't judge about this new site named blackholetec. It's a rather unknown site, but I've never found any articles that weren't true or reduced their reputation. This can be called a more reliable source than videocardz or any other sites in this league.

What are you talking about my tri x never goes above 70c with silent fans at +100 MV oced to 1200mhz.R9 290 is hard enough to cool with air, any more performance out of it would mean water cooling as standard...

Don't be ignorant.
Know who you are talking about.
yes but you need to keep things in perspective.
If Dave Bauman was Jesus, then at best 8 pack would be a cousin of one of apostles. Judas Iscariot to be exact LOL
