I gave up on horses also once I had the gray cowl and enough strength. With that much feather I ran like a total maniac even with full heavy armor on.
I think I have a total of about 350 feather now through 2 rings + cowl.
Almost tempting to enchant some basic clothes so once I've cleaned out a dungeon I can take all the loot.
Max and i got to Level 92 without cheating or using the console
.. and 8 million in Gold .. rich bastage

i started playing Oblivion on Day 1 and was the first player to report logging over 1,000 hours [with the vanilla game] on the official TES forum. Over 1,250 hours in all with the expansions and mods

now i can't stand to play it

Wow, thats insane. I've been playing the game on and off since August and I've only gotten about 200 hours with 2 characters and a whole load of mods. I can't imagine how you wouldn't get bored without any mods after playing for that long. I installed a whole load of mods practically 5 hours into the game. In any case, you must have memorized Cyrodill in and out.
In fact, I've probably gotten only about 1200 hours over every single moment in my life spent gaming.

well, it was a particularly strange time in my life .. at one time i needed to stay 'up' mostly for 5 days straight while wildfires raged [quite literally] in my "backyard" and and the *same time* i was caring for a deathly sick family member we couldn't evacuate.
.. and Oblivion is the only game - except Hg:L that i put well over 100 hours into .. i actually "finished" Oblivion
[there were several unique 'discoveries' Max and i reported to the TES forum - so it was a hell of a "distraction"]

LOL
8 mil in gold! 1250 hours! that's mindboggling, apoppin. My 8200 gold & 35 hrs is paltry in comparison! lol
Evil, have you tweaked the .ini for dual core, cache size, etc? Turn off Antivirus? Maybe run a defrag? Yeah, it's frustrating that you can completely max out games like HL2 & Ep, but still get stutter with this one.
Thanks for the tips. Hopefully my level 22 Redguard will get accepted to the Arcane U quickly..hehI'm going to finish vanilla Oblivion first, then maybe try Francesco's mod or OOO (unless I get bored...)

one discovery we made was 6 months after the game was out - Quake Ruin
--that is not a spoiler .. try to find it without any hints
- i looked in the long dev list of "names" in the toolset for it and we went searching - it is well-hidden and not really all that special - even if it is totally unique and a bit "trippy"
i was one of very first to simultaneously discover 'Chameleon' as a "cheat"
and how to cheat [legally] to buff your character while *i* slept
we measured the height of White Tower [in feet] and the tallest point from sea level .. pretty small .. and your char is 5 feet or so "tall" .. so it's a matter of "perspective" and illusion ... the world is pretty small at max speed
and i was first to start the thread that shows [in one of the rare flame-fests at TES forums] - for PC only - that Wabbajack is an unbeatable weapon that *always* will defeat a Superior Enemy - to 50 levels over your own character's
howz that for what i remember off the top of my head?
oh yeah, the Devs emailed for a couple of my "save games" for a major MQ-breaking issueand showed me the console "workaround" to restore it
At the forum we tore the game mechanics apart and i demonstrated Jail [shortcut] to "cheat" legally ... i felt i got to "know" Oblivion's Creator .. it is the only game that felt "worth it" to me. My username is the same on TES forum.
i had a blast with it

As far as Radeons, you have to know the history at Bethsoft; the Xbox360 version was developed in parallel, and the MS tools for Xbox360 worked best on Radeons, because the Xbox360 itself uses Radeon video chips, so that was the only VGA hardware even considered for TES: IV development. I really doubt that there ever was one iota of play-testing on any Geforce gear at all, else nVIDIA couldn't have gotten by with their attempted sabotage.
Bethesda was sending ATI and nVIDIA beta versions 3-4 months before the game's release, and both companies put up web pages saying what hardware they sold would run the game. Bethesda's marketing people took the assurances from nVIDIA as truth, although they managed to screw up ATI's response (added the 9600s, which ATI had left off). The official requirements were never changed when the truth came out. Instead, Bethesda created an "Extra Low" (very ugly) setting just for the junker Geforce trash, like the FXes, and 6200s.
None of the game's patches have included anything special to reduce the BIAS that favors Radeons by anywhere from 20 % (lower end) to 40 % (top end), and if anything, each succeeding nVIDIA driver set has been worse for Oblivion since its release, so that's been nVIDIA's bad attitude continuing.
Getting back to horses for a moment, although the horse from the Priory is slow, it seems singularly immune to major injury or death . .

Well, this is certainly troubling. If I had know this earlier, it probably would've influenced my decision as to what card to get. Tks for the info.

Well I've never seen a black pearl in the game nor heard any mention of it.

I've picked up 2 now.
Weight 0.1, value 10,000. Both found in random caves/fort dungeons.
Yeesh. Spot the ATI fanboy in this rant. :roll:Originally posted by: Kiwi

Nice..what level are you at?
I had a bizarre crash the other night..I was in the chapel in Skiringard, then prayed to the altar to get healing, and next the game hard locked with a pink screen. Was forced to do a hard reset. Anyone else experience a "pink screen of death"?

Level 30 or more.
Never had a hardlock, just random crashes to desktop every now and then.
