I really wanna finish Oblivion, but I feel like I'm getting way too far behind now with the expansions. I guess it shouldn't matter though. I had to go get that new monitor (21" widescreen) and I can't play Oblivion at max res with more than 20 or so FPS so I refuse to play it until I upgrade. If I can't play it well, I don't play it at all. :p Pretty sweet game.

Yay! More quests that involve Shegeorath (whether closely or off-to-the-side)! I love that Daedric Lord.

Yay!! I'm barely into Oblivion ATM. Level 18 and haven't really touched the main quest.

apoppin, somehow I knew you'd jump into this thread, being the resident Oblivion master and all. :)

Master? ... i was just "nuts" for this game from Day One ... i had *circumstances conspire* to keep me playing this game for 1,200+ hours ... the first player to report over 1,000 hours on the ES forums
[i was even 'regular' there for awhile - now those forums have REAL emoticons]
:Q

Oblivion is a Hybrid FPSer/RPGer's delight ... and 'heavy' on the FPS ... i liked it the same way some of you guys loved the other Great Hybrid, DeuSex
{Day*You*Sex] ... sounds 'better' that way. ;)

:D

and i am SO burned out on Oblivion ... :(

hopefully that will be gone by Summer ... should i Export my Level 92 Character or start a new one?

{new one}

Or you could share your save file by posting it to the public.

Not sure if I'll start a new character or not. For Morrowind, I specifically started a new character from scratch to bring over to Tribunal and Bloodmoon (got both at the same time). Part of the reason was because my first one sucked. Pretty much got it nailed down this time around. I still don't have Knights of the Nine, so I guess I'll wait to get them together:).

I wonder if they'll let you do the expansion with a new character. I would like to try that. Otherwise I may have to start a new game or dig up my old saves. Can't wait for this to come out.

Never. Muhaha... I put in 192 hours, shut down 35-ish Oblivion Gates and completed most quests I could find, except the Mages Guild. Good luck:).

it's addictive

That's close to about 4 hours a day...

That's like 1/6 of your life being a virtual life.

Wow.

Wow.
actually *events conspired*

the first three weeks i had it i was as sick as i have been ... and it saved my sanity as i played it continuously as i couldn't concentrate on anything else. . . . probably 100 hours each of the first three weeks

then i had a family member fall gravely ill ... i stayed home from work ... more oblivion

then we had wildfires ... 5 days and nights my property was directly threatened ... no sleep and oblivion continuously running

and letsee ... if i live to be 70 ... thats over 600 thousand hours
:Q

big deal :p

how much time does the average person *spend* watching TV?

ANYway ... it was kinda 'cool' and the only time in my life i spent hundreds of hours on a PC game....

letsee ... i got to be the 'resident oblivion expert' here as i bought it on *Day One* and even gained some *fame* on the TESS Forums by being the First to report finding the Quake Ruin and also the first person to report 1,000 hours and first to completely*max all abilities* at Level 92 ... without cheats or the console ... i also reported Chameleon and the wabbajack as *cheats* ...

plus we found out that the tallest peak in Oblivion - Gnoll Mt - was only 600 feet high :p
:)

I think apoppin was born in Oblivion ;) .

There are some nice house mods out for Oblivion ,quite a few of them blow away the best houses you get in the standard game, especially the views and house contents you get with the house mods,oh and free too :).

Bloodmoon was a great expansion pack for Morrowind,so I might be tempted to pick this expansion pack up,probably for my Vista OS when its released.

Elder Scrolls expansions arent like most other games.
They usually just add content to the game world which you have to investigate on your own.

You install it and then next time you load up your normal game you go find the added stuff.
Sometimes they run a script and you get a little popup window when loading a game. It will usually add a new quest note and map marker to your journal after you click it.

I got the expansions for Morrowind and they were just really big ESP files which you can add in the Loader screen at start up. Same for the Knights of the Nine expansion and all the little modules Bethesda put out.

that said ... you can start with a new character:p

. . . anytime ;)

i plan to start over ... or at least export my Character at a lower level

except for some of the Hard Fan-made Mods, it sucks to take a Level 93 Char into a new game ... unless you like NO challenge

I have a similar problem with being left behind, but mines not based on hardware (my rig smokes Oblivion on my 22" widescreen). It is based on leveled scaling. I should nearly be a god by now, but im just an average schmoo. :| I played Morrowind for EVER and loved that game, but this one is just meh with that damn leveled scaling. I wish i had known this from the get go, i would have used that plug-in that disables it.

BTW, does anyone want to point me to that plug-in?

search for "obscuro's oblivion overhaul"
ooo

and IF you want to be *god* ... just get 100% Chameleon ...
it's a 'legal cheat' :p

or use the Wabbajack to kill *anything* in two hits ;)

After getting past level 40 with full daedric and a nice katana, I pretty much felt like god. The only difference was that I couldn't do what I did in Morrowind past level 20; stand still, let the other guy hit me for a while, laugh, then hit him to death with a HUGE daedric/cult hammer. At level 50-ish, a horde of guards can still kill me in Oblivion. Level scaling isn't that bad, but definately could have done without. Speaking of, Fallout 3 may (definately?) will be on Xbox, so please start wondering what will be in and out (*cough* not turn based).

Hopefully they'll sell a bundle with both expansion packs; that'll be ideal for me to get into the game. When it launched I didn't have a PC capable of playing it.

Decent odds that it'll be along the lines of Brotherhood of Steel. Or they'll try to adapt it to an FPS, but I don't think that's likely. Slightly tangential, there's a new Xcom-ish game coming out which looks promising
