Oblivion New Expansion - Shivering Isles

Just beat SI. What a fantastic, stuffed-up expansion pack. I really enjoyed how colorful and lush most of the enironments were. Also, I was more compelled to read most of everything in this exp than I was in the original release.

yeah .. i loved it .. and am still playing it ... there are a LOT of places and camps and towns not near the MQ at all

some completely unrelated SQs that don't show up in your Journal till you find the place

and ... does it *matter* which side you choose ? ... 'who' you replace ... other than going about it very different ways ....

does it also matter to the story if the one remaining or the other one works against you?

I didn't really like KotN. Probably because it's made more for good characters and I'm playing an evil character. It made me wipe out all the infamy I worked so hard to achieve . Also the armour/weapons of the crusader are useless for an evil character because you can't use them if your infamy goes above a certain point!

I am really liking SI though. Artistically they outdid the original Oblivion in pretty much every way. The characters, dialog, scenery, and monsters are all so much more interesting than Oblivion's.

Ok, I know its a month old now, but I'm getting my ass kicked and I can't find anything to help me.

I got the special bone arrows, I even waited until midnight when nut-lady went to go talk to her evil spawn-child.
I can't kill the bastard!!!

I hit him with all 20 arrows and my depraved companion does the same. He only loses a small fraction of his health and then it regenerates instantly. I blast him with my special fire, ice and lightning spells (100 damage per second for 10 seconds) and all it does is slow him down.
What the heck am I doing wrong with the Gatekeeper??!!??

make sure you weaken him with Momma's tears
-then blast him with the bone arrows

what level is your Hero? ... so easy at Level 2

If you don't get help to kill the Gatekeeper, what happens exactly? When I first got there, I went exploring and ran into him and a group of adventurers. When I startd hitting him, he was actually going down a bit fast so I backed off to avoid ruining the quests. Can he be taken down without any spells/tears/arrows?

i think so ... sure ... just use chameleon to find out

you can hack away ... i just think he has a lot of hit points ... and i am not sure they regenerates or not

my Level 2 Hero took him down with just the Bone Arrows ... no tears needed ... just kept running backwards and shooting into his face

at a high level, i don't know ... i retired my Level 92 Hero long ago

Hasn't 1.31 been out for a while? I could have sworn that I've had it since Feb, but the patch is on my computer that I can't check from work, so not completely sure.

Well, I dont know how to "get" mommas tears. I waited till midnight and they talked. Nothing else seemed to happed. She started to walk away and I went in for the assault.
Anyway, I killed him. Went into the editor, revamped my spells to do 250 damage per second for 15 seconds. I must have flung about 30 of them before he died, and he DEFINITELY regenerates, fast.

My hero isat level 30, I can only assume monsters get super powerful around this point. I can't kill any of them with melee weapons any more (except for mud crabs). My strength is maxed out and so is my blade skill. Its all about the spells now.

IIRC, she drops a hanky after they talk, which you pick up and get a few tears from, and can then use to poison the arrows.

If you want melee weapons to have some bite again, and you seem familiar with the editor, why not mod in a better melee weapon?

Is there a Altar of Spell making in the isles anywhere? I have need of a new spell, but since I'm in the isles I get the feeling I'm out of luck.

i don't think so ... i never found one ... i headed back once or twice to FC spire
