A big warning on private schools, they are also far less regulated. My friend works at one of the most prestigious private elementary schools in the US, smack in the heart of La Jolla, one of the richest areas in the country if not the world.
She has her masters from Tufts and her undergrad from Duke, she is highly qualified and an excellent teacher. The teacher across the hall from her was a woman who applied to be the secretary and they decided they needed a new teacher more. She is completely incompetent. A woman like her would never be allowed to teach in the public schools, but in private ones they can get away with it and nearly always nobody is the wiser. Parents pay almost $20,000 a year to have their child taught by a secretary. (a fact the school keeps well hidden) Many private schools provide great education, but much as with public schools the quality varies widely.
As for the rest of this, basically people here are arguing for teachers to refuse to answer adolescents' questions about sex in sex-ed class. I think this is dumb for two reasons, first I think that America makes way too huge a deal out of sex, but more importantly those kids almost certainly have access to the internet and you all know that they can see everything they could dream of asking about and much worse with a few mouse clicks.
Are we censoring their education to make them feel better, or to make us feel better?
I know some secretaries that could be excellent teachers. They are moms, they have seen the inside of the business world in a way you never have, they have an excellent work ethic, are literate and unfailingly control the chaos which swirls around them. And then there are others that would be better off doing something else.
I have found teaching credentials are no guarantee of education, nor of morality, nor of any particular interest in mentoring students. Too many dwell in a world of unfailing welfare liberalism and unionism and they are so bored with teaching core subjects that they curry favor by politically indoctrinating kids. These are people that really should be working at ACORN instead, they would have so much greater job satisfaction.
Sure, America makes too much of sex. But we are not talking about adult sex here, are we?
I posted links to the original WWW sites that broke this story. Have you read the text excerpts? What do these look like to you, in context or not? Want context, maybe you can pick up copies at your local school, your uncensored public library is sure to have lots of copies and, if not, I am pretty sure the local porn shop does. NEA approved! You can read the books over lunch break at school or at the office and show your friends, your co-workers and your boss will be impressed at how educated you are.
Though it must be too subtle for you to comprehend, the point of the OP is that this is about the state sponsored propagation of pedophilia and other practices under the guise of teaching sexual tolerance. Pedophilia is illegal everywhere, last I checked. Pedophiles are generally considered the inmates at highest risk in prison of being killed and are usually segregated to keep them alive. Here, in this forum, we have cheering sections.
The OP points out that we have government funded and forced indoctrination of the very young to libertine approaches to sex. Sounds good to you? I thought so.
Parents may indeed opt to not have their kids attend classes in how to properly administer blow jobs, engage in safe anal fisting, mixed age group sex, how to treat strangers who offer them sex politely and with enthusiasm, how OK it is for four year olds to offer blow jobs to all of their friends and neighbors, but kids are going to run out of those classes and let all of those sitting in the "other" class working on multiplication tables know just what they learned, in detail.
Remember, these practices are being propagated by the books being used in the classes. Real easy for the 12 year old "old enough" for anal fisting instruction to pass on to the nerdy kid whose mom refused to sign off on the blow job class. Real easy to mock that quiet kid that only wants to do her homework until she has not only had to read the book aloud but had to offer the class bully, whose mom never bothers to read those wall o' text class notes, a blow job so that she can get her bra and pants back. Sounds good to you? I thought so.
If you think that this is some kind of joke, try this at home or any place outside the school. Likely when you do, little Johnny, after giving the class a live demo of rimming is going to run to the school guidance counselor and tell Mr. Sex Educator that YOU are physically abusive (just as he was taught!) and the next thing you know it is YOU who will be sitting in a squad car waiting to be booked and fingerprinted for child abuse. Of course your kid will now be under state care and attending weekly counseling sessions where YOU will always be characterized as at fault, being the adult parent and all.
As far as the internet goes, maybe YOU will encourage your kids or even better, your friends' kids, to check out open access to the internet. They will just LOVE going to eskimopie's apartment to surf porn sites. It's ALL educational!
It will be an education to you when the cops bust you for having child porn on your computer and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and having little Mary Jane, who just got a GLSEN lesson on vaginal fisting in school, testify against you should be an education as well. Maybe her parents will want to have a word or two with you after the hearing, too.
Unionized educators are a protected class, aren't they? You aren't.
