Not to change subject, but this is a healthcare post... so...
It occurs to me, this healthcare thing is just "that", but more.
We are going to find out for sure, bottom line, final say so, whether or not the
citizens run the country, this good old U S of A, or whether if it is in fact
totally corporation owned and operated.
What Im saying is that, for a long long time people have been wondering, asking, if "we the people" run the show, or if in reality there is no longer such a thing as "we the people" influence in decision making. Yes, we get to vote, but so what? Do the people run the country, or is it actually CITI Bank, CHASE, AIG and CIGNA.
Does it really matter if 60+ % of "we the people" want such things as "the public option", or if "we the people" want some say-so in giving wall street billions in bailouts?
Does it matter what we want??? To anyone???
Or... in fact is congress, the president (whom ever he or she is), just going to keep putting the corporations first before the wants of the citizens?
Not only putting them first, but giving them the only seat at the table?
If 60+ % of the citizens want a public option in healthcare reform, and the law makers ignore, or simply refuse to address what the people want in the end, then I have to ask... what the hell is really going on in this country?
When lawmakers totally ignore what the people want, the majority, the citizens, then to me it becomes clear that we citizens are really just invisible.
The lawmakers, from the president down, are only going to do the bidding of the wall street executives and the CEO's of our most powerful corporations.
So... where does that leave us?
Yes we can cast a vote every election cycle, but so what? Just to make ourselves feel good and fuzzy inside? Feel like we are really taking part? Doing something?
There is no reason a public option should not be included in reform, if the majority of our people want such an option. And there is no reason to give billions of tax payer dollars in bailouts, if the people do not support that.
When lawmakers will "not" (include a public option), and when lawmakers "will" (hand out billions in tax payer dollars) regardless, then what power if any do we pull as to what happens in America?
We thought something "not good" was going on when the bailouts happened.
Next we will see this healthcare reform bill pass giving everything to the insurance industry, and nothing as to what the majority of "we the people" wanted.
When that takes place, this abortion they (the lawmakers) in the end will call "healthcare reform". The reform the president will happily sign into law. The reform with no public option and still leaving millions uninsured.
When that takes place you will know who is really running the country.
And you will also know once and for all, who is not running the country. YOU!
This is a test... The test of all tests. Possibility the final test.
And afterwards??? We will all know.
