Then what the President is about to do will just exponentially increase illegal immigration, not decrease it as the next gen of border runners will now have 2 prior amnesty programs that were a win-win for them. So in other words there is no REAL long-term solution to illegal immigration that would be palatable to liberals...

What are you talking about? Their long term solution is Open Borders, or, such a relaxed/expanded allowance that it is in effect Open Borders.

Well, one school of thought says Obama could play it safe, announce the actions, and defer them till 1H next year giving enough time for congress to put a bill together.

The right wing has to realize that they aren't saints either. If you don't like a bill that the senate passed, then pass another bill. There's sufficient opposition to a deportation-only approach (it's not like 90% of the population supports it), so clearly there's got to be a bill that melds together some of both points. Where's this bill? The answer is not doing nothing, that's abdicating responsibility. So I support Obama's endeavor so that the government actually does things that it's paid for. I'm a legal immigrant, but i'm a taxpayer, and I don't want to be paying for people to sit around and blow rhetoric while not really doing anything. You think me or any of the private sector employees can do that?

There's got to be a midway between open borders and deportation-only.

In the corporate world, it isn't acceptable that a section management would hold up solving a problem because they didn't like the solution. The accepted way of working is to negotiate with the other side, not just ignore the problem and hope it goes away.

Why should Government be allowed to do that? Why should right wingers support their elected representatives from doing nothing? What are we paying taxes to these jokers for? To go to Washington, party and get hookers?

The senate passed a good bill, a great bill, with teeth, that both repubs and demos voted.
Google what the bill says. What the bill does.

The bill ""stops"" employers from hiring illegals.
The employer will no longer get away with hiring, paying under the table, getting cheap labor, and thus paying less than the federal minimum wage i.e. less than $7.25 an hour.

Plus, employers that hire illegals can and often do treat their illegal workers any way they want. Just like slave labor.
Why?
I mean... Who's gonna tell? Who's gonna gripe? Who's gonna give the bossman away?
That illegal employee?
haha hehe hoho chuckle chuckle snort snort ckuckle

What draws illegals here in the first place are the jobs. The money $$$
And until this bill came along, that FACT had never been addressed.
This bill passed by the senate finally addressed the hiring of illegals.
You do not need a big-ass fence if once across that illegal can no longer find work.
It's not called rocket science. It's called common old fashion horse sense.

And you know the sad part of all this?
The employers that do hire illegals for a cheap buck, to avoid the law, and more so to attract
illegals into this country in the first place, ARE ALL PROBABLY REPUBLICANS !!!!
Most likely....

This immigration bill, passed by the senate, would greatly hinder and stop the hiring of illegals, fine any business that tried to hire illegals, and I believe (I'd have to read the bill again) I believe create a system where any hire-ee would have to be verified as an legal American citizen.

Sooooooo.... Naturally republicans in the house are going to oppose this bill.
And place all the blame on Obama.

One day, America WILL wake up.
I only hope we all live to see that day....

PS. And thanks America for once again being true to your cause by voting STUPID!
And I still ask the question, will America survive STUPID ???
.
.

We've long had penalties for employers uses illegal immigrant workers.

I fail to see how another law is going to anything. let's enforce what we have.

What Counts as “Hiring An Illegal Immigrant”?

Under federal law, it is illegal for any employer to hire, recruit or refer for a fee any alien not authorized to work in the United States. This includes hiring contractors who employ illegal immigrants. There are criminal and civil penalties associated with this conduct.

It is also illegal for any employer not to verify work authorization. An employer who does not correctly complete an I-9 for each employee three days after the employee is hired is also subject to criminal and civil punishment.
What Are the Penalties For Hiring An Illegal Immigrant?

For first offenders, there is a $250-$2,000 fine per illegal employee.

For a second offense, the fine is $2,000-$5,000 per illegal employee.

For employers who have been convicted of hiring illegal immigrants more than twice, the fine can range from $3000-$10,000 per employee. If the employer demonstrates a pervasive pattern of knowingly employing illegal immigrants, he or she could face additional fines, and up to six months in jail.

This does not include “harboring” illegal immigrants, or knowingly employing ten or more illegal immigrants in one year. Harboring an illegal immigrant can lead to ten years of prison time.

Additionally, under the Racketeer Influenced Corrupt Organizations (RICO) act, employers hiring illegal immigrants have been sued, resulting in large settlements. The lawfully documented workers of the Zirkle Fruit Company recently settled a class action lawsuit brought under RICO. The suit alleged that their employer knowingly hired undocumented workers, driving down their wages.

We have laws to deal with the millions he wants to grant amnesty too.

If we know who they are, why not send them back?

that would upset your voters to much. and might actually be good for America.

You don't think big "your" business wants dirt cheap labor? They "really" don't want to send them back.

I never said they didn't.

Obama wants his voters, business wants it slave labor.

But currently it seems like only one person -Obama wants to single handedly blow up America.

Yes the President wants to "blow up America". He is right now sitting in his secret lair under the White House plotting his next nefarious move.

Get some perspective junior. I thought GW was a horrible President on many levels, but never went to the "hates America", wants to "blow up America" shit you go for.

That would upset my voters? Wtf does that even mean?

And no we don't know who all the illegals are and we certainly don't know where they are, so your thinking is based on a catch 22.

There's got to be a midway between open borders and deportation-only.

There really is only one long term acceptable solution (in order of implementation):

1.) Truly lock down border - there can be no good faith agreements until this is accomplished simply because any plan that allows a totally porous and joke of an enforcement system to operate means a plan that is a non-starter before ever being implemented (which is exactly the operating design of current efforts).

2.) Amend Constitution to state that persons born in the US are not automatically US citizens, but rather, that any person born to a properly documented and in good standing (not a citizen on our most wanted list) US citizen (mother or father) anywhere in the world is automatically a US citizen.

3.) Lastly, when numbers 1 and 2 have actually been really accomplished (not fake Politician/Lawyer scum accomplished), grant amnesty for any non-convicted criminal illegal presently in US borders. They and their illegal kids can rot in non-amnesty mode for the rest of their entire lives as far as I'm concerned until numbers 1 and 2 are truly done first. Literally anyone proposing to do number 3 before numbers 1 and 2 are done is either some combination of Bleeding Heart/White Guilter/DamnTheMan/Greeder/Scum, and/or, someone so fucking retardingly ignorant their opinion is worthless garbage and thus wasting time on it is counter productive to the illegal invasion issue.

In the corporate world, it isn't acceptable that a section management would hold up solving a problem because they didn't like the solution. The accepted way of working is to negotiate with the other side, not just ignore the problem and hope it goes away.

In the Corp world, real Leadership in the Corp/Org eventually actually has to account for allowing large negative things to happen. In politics, scum that is called Politician is hardly ever held accountable. It is never held accountable when the other side which would actually watch over the other side and hold them to that accountability is actively working towards the same goal (but for different reasons). On one side we have Democrats who cannot fake Heart Bleed enough for their sheeple masses to get the sheeple vote, and for their business vote, are just like the Republicans who want to keep that cheap/wage depressing labor illegally invading in as much as they can make an excuse for. They don't want to seriously solve the issue because they want the issue to continue - both sides want that to happen.

Why should Government be allowed to do that? Why should right wingers support their elected representatives from doing nothing? What are we paying taxes to these jokers for? To go to Washington, party and get hookers?

They're Politicians, they don't give a flying F what the masses want (unless they need to pull a little con job to get votes), or care the long term affects of what happens to the country. You cannot expect rational thinking nor patriotic thinking out of Politicians, you can only expect the sell out (either for money, and/or, for votes).

This whole executive order bullshit is designed to make people angry at each other. And when people are angry at each other, they lose focus on the other things that are going on in the world.

It's sad how well it works even on the most seasoned of political junkies.

Sometimes things get so weird twisted that logic becomes insanity.
Here we have American's, all pissed about what Obama will or might do.
So time for a little reality check....

American's....
Foreigners, that long ago boated to a land occupied by Indian's.
And labeled Indian's by the foreigners because the foreigners were lost and wasn't sure where the hell they had landed.
Then, the foreigners loved this new land so much, had such a desire to make a home, that they waged war and killed off all the native inhabitants.
And the survivors, forced into mobile homes on reservations.

And now, hundreds of years later, the foreigners can't seem to figure out why other foreigners should desire to follow in the vary same path?

Reality check:
na·tive
adj.
1. Existing in or belonging to one by nature; innate: native ability.
2. Being such by birth or origin: a native Scot.
3. Being one's own because of the place or circumstances of one's birth: our native land.
4. Originating, growing, or produced in a certain place or region; indigenous: a plant native to Asia.
5.
a. Being a member of the original inhabitants of a particular place.
b. Of, belonging to, or characteristic of such inhabitants.

No fire before wood. Secure the damn border, then we work on the rest, but this has to be job #1.

Job#1 - Get rid of the reason folks immigrate here illegally: JOBS. Without employers hiring illegals, there would be no reason for them to want to come to the USA. Then the borders can be just as they are without having to worry at all about illegals crossing en masse under the radar.

Just for the fact that there are untold millions of illegals not only being able to survive in the USA, but are also able to send home millions of $$$ annually back to their homelands shows where the main cause of illegal immigration lies: They have jobs that pay enough to make a living, even while hiding from ICE. For the desperate, that's all they need to know.

We can lock down our borders all we want, but if the jobs are available, illegals will find a way in. If they have no jobs to find here, they will go somewhere else, or they will want to go through legal means to become citizens to get jobs that are available to them through that process.

I guess you didn't read the senate bill?

So what's the assurance that the POTUS will ENFORCE whatever new law he signs on his damn desk?! I'm sorry, but there's just too much precedent of this current sitting President to pick and choose whatever laws he and his administration wants to follow.

Like "if you like your health insurance, you can keep it" assurance?

Like "this administration will be the most transparent and open administration" assurance?

Must. Stop. Laughing. Too. Hard.

The funny of all is that you and others do really believe those lines and that the Democrat Party is really the party for the poor and working folks..LOL. Hope and change indeed.

Well it's certainly the party that exploits the poor and wants to turn and keep as many people poor as possible. There aren't nearly enough poor for the Dims and until most of Central and South America's poor are crowded in on top of the USs even poorer-poor (and joined by the former middle class) there never will be enough.
