i personally take care of a few 'special kids' from time to time. I have no problem with that as it was self-depracating, not directed towards 'special' people. Honest, all this phoney outage is all bullshit by critics to find something about obama to say shit about. His joke was fine and it's like that pic that people post aruond saying that arguing on the internet is like the special olympics, even if you win, ur still retarded. It's funny, i won't take offense to that. Special people ARE special for a reason.

It goes something like this:

But you can't root against President Bush, it's like booing at the special olympics.

Here's another by Wanda:

Wanda Sykes on Jay Leno (hey, I'll watch anything) was very funny about Katrina.

Jay: "But President Bush took responsibility."

Wanda: "I don't think the President should have taken responsibility.... I don't blame the President. I blame the American people. Y'all knew the man was slow when you voted him in. You can't blame the blind man for wrecking your car when you're the one who gave him the keys."

LOL, I  Wanda. :D

Think about it this way: If there was an actual retarded person present at the bowling alley, would you still "what a retard!", or at least feel bad for saying it?

Whenever Obama speaks, he has a national audience, which includes all mentally and physically disabled people. I can see righteous shock/anger by these people and their relatives.

I didn't even vote for Obama, but I have to agree. This dumb remark is about No. 9453254 on the list of things we should be worrying about.

This is also true.

if the "Tonight Show" is pre-recorded, how come they couldnt have just edited out that segment?? Airing that specific part was obviously beneficial to noone.

Probably because they wanted the segment with him answering personal questions. If you cut out the question, it might look awkward or you'd have to scrap the whole section, unless you want to re-shoot it. And if they did any of that, the people bitching would be bitching louder "OMG MSM CONSPIRACY!!?!?!?!!FDSJ"

Or high on the hopium to ignore it...

I know all about the relationship between self hate and hope hate. As a defenseless little child you were full of hope and slaughtered. And I know about the Stockholm syndrome that turned you in to the same kind off monster that destroyed you.

I would throw him under the bus , but there is no room. To many AIG execs and members of congress there.
So I'll give him a pass. It was after all just a joke.

So you need someone to make sure certain things are not published?

Meh, wasn't a big deal. Maybe everyone should focus on important issues rather than discuss a minor slip of the tongue.

It may be a hard pill to swallow but it's a big deal in a sense (media wise ) because Obama is part of the political party which spawned the whole aggressive PC trend.

Obama is supposed to be the greatest orator to ever hold office. Surely he can avoid mistakes like this.

On one hand you have a person using retarded stereotype to make fun of himself. On the other, you have a person using a racist stereotype to make fun of a 20 year old volunteer.

[edit] There's also the matter of timing. One on hand, you've got the newly elected President making those remarks. On the other, you've got a candidate the August before the election making those remarks. People aren't going remember Obama's remarks three years from now. 2+ months later the election was still in full swing and it cost Allen dearly (perhaps even the 2008 Republican nomination). [/edit]

A better joke Obama should have made might have been something along the lines of:

"I bowled a 129," he told Leno.
"That's very good, Mr. President," Leno said sarcastically.
"It's like there was a black guy out on the lanes that day," the president said.

As an adult you were full of hope in a presidential candidate and slaughtered within 60 days when you realized he was just another full-of-shit politician with an over-reliance on the teleprompter. At the end of the day your the same kind of ass you were when GWB was in office.

When you become the president of the Untied States and leader of the free world the bar is raised just a little higher for a reason.
