Thank you. I could have looked that up but I didn't. Bunch of smart people here so I figured I'd get the low down. Any way, I agree. I don't think he'd flout the law with any kind of transparency. If he did, it won't be easy to find or prosecute.
I don't think he'd flout the law, period. It's not like Trump had anything on him personally. Before the election, nobody expected Trump to win, so what would be the point? After the election, whatever he found wouldn't make a Democrat President. Obama left office with a very high level of approval; he's going to be richer than the Queen and no doubt very influential, maybe even a SCOTUS justice. What could he possibly gain from gambling all that on wiretapping a guy who in public says more stupid stuff before breakfast than most Americans manage in a year?

Said more eloquently than I could manage but my thoughts exactly.

Wouldnt it be more likely to find evidence of russian surveilance? Keeping track of their investment?

Where is the FISA order for Flynn whose was subject to a wiretap prior to being confirmed. Surely the Russians did not tap their own guy in order to leak the conversation to the media. Someone tapped that phone.

Also in his last days, obama made it a lot easier for leaks to come out of the various intelligence agencies. He signed the order to allow intelligence agencies to share intel regardless of whether it was verified. This makes it a lot mor difficult to find the source of the leaks.

One more time with cartoon characters.

I am Boris Badenov. Captain Peter Peachfuzz has reason to believe I have been hacking US computers. What could he do? I might get hundreds of calls and go the good Captain targets me because it only makes sense, besides the legalities involved.

Now Bullwinkle J. Moose has my number. Why he does isn't relevant to this point, he could have looked it up. Mr. Moose then calls me and Captain Peachfuzz now knows Mr. Moose has called and what I, Boris, have discussed with Mr. Moose from simple fact that communication is two way.

This becomes a problem however because President Rocket J. Squirrel wants me to come on board with his Administration and that means I am subject to scrutiny above an ordinary citizen as well as pointed questions from other members of government. Sonofagun, someone spilt the beans and others learn of my communications with Mr. Moose. Who? Not sure. Could have been Mr. Peabody or Natasha Fatale, but to get back to the point raised, no one tapped Mr. Moose. Mr Moose was caught by his action of communicating with me. BWHAHAHA!

If that's what Trump is referencing. Personally I never try to correlate Trump's pronouncements with known reality. That's a sure fire migraine.

Actions suggest that Trump doesn't know what he's referencing and he certainly has a limited grasp of meaning. Listening in on a Russian ambassador because there was concern of hacking could very well equate to "Obama ordered me wiretapped". His mind is as sharp as a sledgehammer.

Newt Gingrich last night said something very interesting. We all know for a fact that Gen Flynn was wiretapped. What we didn't know until last night was that Flynn was using a phone at Trump Tower when that happened. So now we know for a fact that Trump Tower lines were wire tapped. What we don't know is by who. I'd say it had to be either by our gov't or by the Russians.

Read the Rocky and Bullwinkle explanation I posted. "We all know" is untrue.

That is not interesting in the slightest. Flynn was not wiretapped, the Russian ambassasdor was wiretapped. By your logic if you called up the Russian ambassador right now from your cell phone the government has wiretapped you. Trump Tower lines were 'tapped' in the same way that literally every phone on the entire planet that calls the Russian ambassador is 'tapped'.

Newt Gingrich is not stupid, he's deliberately trying to deceive you. The article you linked here attempts to say that because Flynn was on the other end of the phone that he was somehow wiretapped and this is some police state tactic. This shows the person who wrote that article either has zero idea what they are talking about or they are also trying to deceive you. You've been duped.

That this even needs to be explained is frankly baffling to me. Do people really think when the FBI has a warrant for a wiretap on a mob boss's phone that they then must get a separate warrant to wiretap each and every person the mob boss decides to call as well? Haven't they ever even watched the Sopranos?

At this point a diagram with circles and arrows with the Russian ambassador at the center seems the only thing left.

We know that someone was being tapped. What's unclear is whether Trump Tower was being tapped or was the Russian Ambassador

We know with basic certainty that the Russian ambassador was tapped as the Russian ambassador is ALWAYS tapped. So no, back to your original post we do not know that Flynn was being wiretapped and therefore we do not know that Trump Tower was wiretapped. In fact, there is no evidence that either one of them were wiretapped.

Your post was factually false.

So almost 400 posts because Trump doesn't understand how telephones work?

More like people posting not understanding how telephones work. By their definition the pizza guy was wiretapped if a pepperoni pie was ordered.

This thread exists because the Orangutan in Chief said Obama wiretapped him.

He's the cause, but he doesn't post here or I assume not :D

Naturally Trump could produce the evidence for his allegations and in the process seriously wound his critics and justify his extraordinary claim. I believe that some of the "wiretap" business we see here is a deflection from the simple fact that Trump hasn't produced anything whatsoever even though he has every legal right to show the warrant and where it originated from. Oops.

My guess is that he will be showing that information right after he publishes the report from his crack team of investigators that were sent to Hawaii to find out the truth about Obama's birth certificate. Remember, they 'couldn't believe what they were finding', so you know it's got to be good.

And the Chaiman of House Intelligence Committee doesn't undekstand how telephons work either... Birds of a feather.

This appears to be the basis for Trump's claims.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/worl...8c6b94-027c-11e7-9d14-9724d48f5666_story.html

In that story we read about a report for a FISA warrant but not for a wiretap.

Here's her take:

https://heatst.com/world/exclusive-fbi-granted-fisa-warrant-covering-trump-camps-ties-to-russia/

According to that article the FBI (not Obama) became aware of a Trump Tower server directly connected to Alfa, a Russian bank. Note this isn't automatically a connection to Putin, however it was of sufficient concern that communications were monitored.

Take home to those who won't read, a report concerning monitoring of a Russian connected server in Trump Tower caused the issue of a FISA warrant for the purposes of monitoring data.

This was not a "wiretap" in any sense, it was financial movements which were monitored not verbal communications between Trump or his representatives, and this was per the FBI which wasn't in the job of protecting Hillary during this timeframe.

If this is correct we now have a basis behind the false accusation. I'm sure of course that Trump will come up with more than this report and nail that bastard Obama, right?

Gets better and better.

Thanks for refreshing my recollection on this. This was old news, I remember reading about it well before the election. A quick google search turns up this November 7, 2016 article (claims exclusive) citing two sources confirming a FISA warrant was issued against certain US persons (must be named in the warrant) in the Trump camp. https://heatst.com/world/exclusive-fbi-granted-fisa-warrant-covering-trump-camps-ties-to-russia/

Disclaimer: I know nothing about HeatStreet and am highly suspicious of claims that sources disclosed to media the existence of FISA warrants. For the sake of our national security the entire FISA system must operate in absolute secrecy-anyone chatting about such a warrant to the media is almost certainly earning themselves job termination and real prison time.

I think its obvious that the guy is stressing out over the mere possibilty of a tap.. and the way the ship is leaking what sort of news can hit the streets tomorrow? Couple that with a man that doesnt sleep much to begin with, is 70, is overweight and doesnt excersise... I.think the doc is gonna tap him out before anything else.. hello Pence.

anyone taking bets?

No. it is not unclear. It is actually really freaking clear.

Tell that to the Wash Post:

It’s unclear whether the FBI — which uses Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrants to eavesdrop — had tapped the Russian Ambassador’s phone or Mr. Flynn’s.

First, that's the Washington TIMES, a conservative news outlet, not the Washington POST. Second and more importantly, you're citing an opinion piece, not actual news reporting.

Come on, guy. You're making it way too easy for these people to dupe you.
