Sure, I can do a Mcowen-esque thread on his ratings instead of oil

Rasmussen has had him trending down, and now gallup is. If you do not believe it is newsworthy, go comment in another thread.

Both polling firms have had him trending down since his inauguration day, the same way nearly every president throughout history has trended down (at least since we've been polling).

It's not particularly newsworthy.

yeap. he also still has amazingly high numbers.

this is not newsworthy at all.

I just saw it now. It's similar to earlier news stories, about which my reaction is disagreement with the Obama administration.

Salon's Glenn Greenwald has been probably the leading national spokesman of progressives against these Obama policies, I'm going to go post a link to his column now in that thread.

I'm a little confused about your first post seeming to say I'm not likely to post in it and your second post saying it's surprising I haven't, but you can clarify that if you like; we're off-topic.

Are you kidding me? He signed one of the most bogus pork filled bills in history that wasn't even read. He's gone on an apology tour. He's trying to slam socialized medicine through congress. He's selected a racist supreme court nominee. Basically he's fucking up our country faster than any president in history.

He hasn't done anything. You have to be kidding.

He hasn't done anything MEASURABLE yet.

I'd call that bill pretty freaking measurable. I'd call the spending pretty freaking measurable by the very definition of the word.

Hey Craig, gonna post in the Obama/dentention thread?

No, I didn't think so. You're an idiot, a coward, and a hypocrite. Which is probably why you vote Democrat to begin with.

Real men vote third party.

Boy howdy that is pot calling the kettle black.

Real men vote third party.

Real men vote for candidates that have zero chance of winning, so they never need to stand up and defend their ideology! You're a real tough guy there, Boberfett.

There are only two types of people who vote third party in America. Those attempting to influence one of the two major parties through their vote, and morons. Anyone who understands how our electoral system works wouldn't vote for a third party candidate for any other reason and would save themselves the time and expense of going to the polls.

You do know there is more to vote on than just President at the polls right?

I am not sure if that makes someone a moron. The only thing that this really proves is that our system is incredibly and hopelessly flawed.

Sure do. I guess if you are incidentally voting for a third party while you're already there that's something else.

The point is that the way our system is set up precludes a third party from winning anything other than fluke elections or very small regional ones.

When half the population tuned in to watch the Michael Jackson funeral I am inclined to agree with you. That said, Obama is still asleep at the wheel - N Korea anyone???????

Gallup reported his approval rating at 57% on June 25-27.

On June 28-30, it went up to 63%.

Why didn't OCguy make a thread about that?

Now it's back down to 56%. It'll be up over 60% again by next week.

Even 56% is more than Obama needs to crush the GOP

Why do you support him when he continues illegal detentions and aggression towards Pakistan?

Oh yea, you are a troll.

I looked at the DU thread on the detentions today, and let me tell you, he is pissing off his base.
So are you going to change the title of this thread when he's approval rating goes up in a few days?

I'll make sure to remind you of his approval rating as soon as it changes.

Goodluck on that! Let me know as soon as you see it back in the mid 60's before 2012!

We'll see how far the trend carries, Mr. Lifer.

Dumb citizens vote for politicians like Messiah who promise them things but reverses whenever it is politically convenient. Our country won't have a political system that functions well without more parties.

D=R. They all suck. They caused all the problems. Give people real choice. Vote all of their asses out.

Why don't you vote for the Green party instead? They're much more progressive that Democrats. It's proven time and again that Democrat = Republican = Status Quo. So much for change.

i agree.

but even then that won't work. is not t he parties that cause all the problems. its the fact that once someone gets into a position of power the only real job they have is keeping that power and getting more.

so even if we did vote out all the D and R's nothing but the names would change. What really needs ot happen is a ethicial and moral change.

Which is exactly why we need Congressional term limits.

Voting in anyone other than the two major parties is an almost insurmountable collective action problem. If you look at the history of 3rd party candidates in presidential elections it shows this very clearly. The process that explains why is generally referred to as 'strategic voting'.

In 1992 Ross Perot ran on a conservative platform. It's pretty safe to say that most of the people who voted for him would have voted for GHWB had they been forced to choose between him and Clinton. Because they voted for their most favored candidate (Perot), they instead contributed to the election of their least favored candidate (Clinton). In 2000 it is safe to say that most of the people voting for Nader would have voted for Gore if they were forced to choose. Had they done so, he would have won the election.

Most people see this, and so they would rather take a candidate they sort of like than have one they greatly dislike get elected. THAT is why 3rd parties will never be viable in the US so long as 51% of the vote gets 100% of the representation.

Even minor parties can get seats in the government posts and have their voices heard. Your vote is never wasted. We need that in America.

But guess what? Both Democrats and Republicans love the status quo because they benefit from it, while we get screwed.

America got fvcked in the a$$ for 8 years under Bush, and Obama is continuing to screw America in the next 3 years (hopefully not another 4).
