I do not care about either parties. They're run by people who are out to screw us. Europeans (most of them) can vote for whatever party they want, and they form governing coalitions. Even minor parties can get seats in the government posts and have their voices heard. Your vote is never wasted. We need that in America.

But guess what? Both Democrats and Republicans love the status quo because they benefit from it, while we get screwed.

America got fvcked in the a$$ for 8 years under Bush, and Obama is continuing to screw America in the next 3 years (hopefully not another 4).

European parties are invested in the system in much the same way as American parties are.

That being said, I tend to support a proportional representation system too. I think it's far more representative of the true will of the people. PR systems have a lot of disadvantages too though, primarily that they tend to be unstable. How often do you hear about a foreign government falling?

Barring some sort of catastrophe and taking into account that political predictions 3 years out don't mean much, I find it difficult to see a situation where Obama doesn't get re-elected.

only way i see him NOT getting re-elected is if teh economy gets worse and tax's get higher.

but in 3 years i suspect the economy will be doing better sure tax's may be higher but not as many will complain.

I believe Obama is starting to pay the price for rushing a stimulus bill that didnt even allocate most of the funds immediately. Although everyone is aware of the mess he inherited, America is also starting to see that his solutions to the mess are damaging to the USD and to our fiscal reputation.

You do know these poll results are similiar to every first term President's poll for the last hundred years??

The President is very much a figurehead - he wields no real power whatsoever. He is apparently chosen by the government, but the qualities he is required to display are not those of leadership but those of finely judged outrage. For this reason the President is always a controversial choice, always an infuriating but fascinating character. His job is not to wield power but to draw attention away from it.

nm, I'd responded to one post by alphatarget before reading another that ensures I have no response on reading him any further.

Are you kidding me? He signed one of the most bogus pork filled bills in history that wasn't even read. He's gone on an apology tour. He's trying to slam socialized medicine through congress. He's selected a racist supreme court nominee. Basically he's fucking up our country faster than any president in history.

He hasn't done anything. You have to be kidding.

He hasn't done anything MEASURABLE yet.

F for comprehension skills.

Are you fucking serious?

I suspect that his sinking approval numbers reflect the disappointment some have in him not being able to fix the mess his predecessor made of our country in the six months he's been in office. Of course this isn't necessarily good news for the Republicans as their approval ratings are slipping just as much if not more. I think this reflects Americans disgust for our leaders of both parties.

While I still hold out hope that Obama will be able to succeed even if he doesn't I'd still rather have him in office than anybody the Republicans have to offer.

Agree. How dare people hold him accountable for backing out on things like wiretapping, fvcking the deficit into the stratosphere, and his main economic package being obscenly impotent.

You mean in the six months he's been in office he hasn't been able to unfuck the fucking we took over the last decade of so to get us in this mess? Wow, what's taking him so long?

His supporters hold him accountable for backing out on things like wiretapping, but hardly stop supporting him overall over such issues.

The idiots include those who say 'Obama didn't double the stock market in six months without any deficit increase so I'm for the Republicans now.'

They get the government they deserve if there are enogh of them. Duh, the deficit is in the stratosphere in the biggest economic threat in 75 years to prevent a depression.

And the credible economists are saying that the spending has prevented a systemic crash that would have been far worse - even if I share some questions about some corrupt spending.

People who are not just having specific concerns about Obama but actually disapproving of him overall at this point don't have any good reasons IMO. This thread has named none.

The public has a short memory, but most of them not that short thankfully to foget the last 8 years - the last 25 years - this fast.

That's because you fail to understand who they are. It's not his base that's abandoning him.

As I said in the post directly before your post, which you apparently didn't read:

The idiots include those who say 'Obama didn't double the stock market in six months without any deficit increase so I'm for the Republicans now.'

These people fail to understand the situation the economy is in and who is to blame and what's needed to fix it. They're not the types exactly to read books and get informed.

You take things too seriously, it was just a jab at your remark. Smile, lighten up, the conservative bogeyman really isn't out to get you ;)

Just how well Barack Obama's presidency can address the most severe U.S. financial crisis since the 1930s may not be clear for muvh of hid term. Economic convulsions of a great, once-a-century magnitude do not take hold or let go easily. Nor are they easy to fathom. Disagreement about the causes or avoidability of the 1930s depression still smolders among historians and economists...

A few pundits even joked that by 2012, the side that had lost the presidency would be grateful for being out of power so that they didn't have to bear responsibility over four difficult years.

Guess you are a Democrat.

Calling most people idiots isnt the nicest thing to do, if you are a liberal you should be nicer as you are supposed to believe in Freedom. :)

As an Independent, I would strongly recommend you read both Common Sense Books. Glen Beck put out a new one and it has the old. He very clearly (even idiots should be able to get it) outlines the issues with current government. Oh and both parties suck...

well, both parties do suck, you are right there... but Glenn Beck is a total nutcase. I'd sooner cut off my penis than read the crap he writes.

He lost me last October when he was insisting that if Barack Obama was elected he would enslave us all. LOL - enslave us all. He does nothing but whine, complain and make sup false scenarios to get upset about all day everyday on his show.

Actually if you break down the polling data - the ignorant and uneducated vote republican by a large margin. The college educated voted for Obama by a HUGE margin.

Hey Craig, gonna post in the Obama/dentention thread?

No, I didn't think so. You're an idiot, a coward, and a hypocrite. Which is probably why you vote Democrat to begin with.

Real men vote third party.

Real men vote for candidates that have zero chance of winning, so they never need to stand up and defend their ideology! You're a real tough guy there, Boberfett.

There are only two types of people who vote third party in America. Those attempting to influence one of the two major parties through their vote, and morons. Anyone who understands how our electoral system works wouldn't vote for a third party candidate for any other reason and would save themselves the time and expense of going to the polls.

And herein lies the problem. Democrats and Republicans are becoming more indistinguishable by the day and those of us who are displeased with both parties have no viable option at the polls since the masses will only vote for one of these two parties.
