Dont pretend to know anything. I may be of Italian heritage but my wifes family grew up in Oklahoma and were settlers during the land rush. Her Father was an oil man working fields breaking his back before starting his own paving company. He was an original bootstrapper who actually made something from nothing...

Let me make some assumptions about you... Your a disgruntled tech worker who has been downsized and you blame everything on the government because they didnt bail you out...

hmm lets see another baseless assumption. You have a fetish for children on toilets......

If you care to know anything you should try to read and listen without those blinders on...

Not everthing I won't sell my apple shares that I picked up at 5 a share . But I already converted to gold some time ago . Not that it matters . I don't believe this system will stand another 2 years. But thats not how I live my life based on whats going to happen in future . day to day and tackle the problems of each day.

If the govt could only create jobs that cheaply.

And remember every billion the govt spends is a billion the private sector cant spend.

Not really, there is plenty of private sector money just sitting on sidelines. Government spending is just picking up the slack.

Not really, there is plenty of private sector money just sitting on sidelines. Government spending is just picking up the slack.

With profits up in most sectors and compensation balooning to seldom before seen levels there is quite a bit of money standing on the sidelines. Some of it is because of the light demand. Many industries are under producing because of fear or lower demand.

Many companies went out of business in the wake of the meltdown because they overproduced and drowned in the cash flow debt...

Again I cite the single biggest hurdle of recovery right now is demand. If demand was there the reagan era tax rate-<MUCH higher than they are now btw- would not impede the recovery one bit. Any sane economist will tell you demand is the driving force free and regulated markets.

It's not demand, manimal, when Government, manipulates the market.

It's pure and simple Government, or Communism.

Theodore Roosevelt was the great Progressive Republican president; his progressive policies were the main reason the Republican Party of his day sidelined him into the dead-end job of Vice President. He was too popular to ignore and too dangerous to the Party's interests to allow any position of power.

They never anticipated President McKinley's assassination...

The egg thing what was the reason for that . The meat packing plants with the same problem as the egg deal . All suppose to have government oversight , But to many inspectors taking bribes. I trust americans about as far as I can throw them . Oh I left out Gulf oil whatever. Last year when I was building garage I went to get sheetrock to finish they loaded me up with China rock . I seen that and made them unload . I said American only . These people didn't even know about the problem yet I did . They kiss my ass now and really cut me some nice deals now . They even said if I keep them posted on whats going on they make it worth my time . So were was government.

While no system is perfect food regulation in the US is pretty good by global standards. The stories of people getting sick from eggs and leafy greens and tainted beef would be MUCH higher if John Stossel type of thinking had its way...

Lets look at history. Deregulation of the power industry in the first few years of the Bush administration has already had very dire consequences in many communities. Research things like cancer clusters and tap water catching fire before you spout off this type of rhetoric...

Talking to you is like being alone so I will leave it at that. If that ringing in your ears become unbearable its that pesky old cognitive dissonance catching up with you..

These projects are just moving shovels. I have a local street that is getting repaved 100%. The roads are in perfectly good condition. Yet they decide to repave everything. For a couple hundred million I presume. What a waste of taxpayer money.

What Utopian town are you in? Most places I have been to around the country the last five years the roads are in horrible condition.

I started in the food industry. Birdseye 1969 0r 8 . Back than It was mostly whites and the quality was super high. The inspectors did there jobs a high pressure steam hose made sure everthing was clean talk about a job handle one of those hoses for a couple of hours . Today its a joke Few whites low quality and sanitation is an absolute joke . I started as box stacker . I finished as a CCM and vision aid tech . Than I formed my own business . Than I got sick . But I have had a really good life . Even tho I really sick now that last 3 years with my grandchild has been the best years of my life and daughter just rewarded me with another grandson last week and he is identical to his brother. I wish you guys could meet the child in my avatar . I am so proud of my work taking care of him that its almost sinful.Easily the best work and most rewarding work I have ever done and I don't get paid. Everyone who meets him are left gasping . He is brillant. If not for this child I pretty sure I be dead by now . Ya I worry about whats coming but the child has told me without me saying a word that God is inside him and says everthing will be oK grandpa. What hurts is when he talks to me about my health he says everthing is going to be ok grandpa God is strong in me. Nobody in my family talks about God with him NONE. Fact is when he asked grandma about God . She asked were you here about GOD . His reply was God told me. Wife said were is God he replied inside my heart. I cried like a baby.

You don't live in MN . Talk about high taxes oh ya. But we have the cleanist state in the union easily. Our roads are pretty dam good . because of our winters High maintance . The only roads I would call bad are federal . State roads and county city real good . That state just south of us have worst roads I ever seen Hawkeyes. Oh ya almost forgot the road the city is redoing thats still in good shape hasn't been worked on since 1959 and the only reason work was done than was because of interstate 90. That was just a bridge. Were talking MN . so back when these roads were built by Men who new how to work and jobs were done to spec. Not like the crooks today at all. and lazy ass workers.

And remember every billion the govt spends is a billion the private sector cant spend.

You really don't understand how it works. Much of a billion not put in stimulus goes into the top few people owning even more and driving up the value of their assets, period.

Not helping anyone else but the few.

The government spending a billion on stimulus puts that money into salaries that are spent in the economy funding businesses, in addition to whatever good the project does.

You really are little more than a broken record. I'm still very curious just exactly what you are trying to prove here in this pointless internet forum :p You hate "the rich", get over yourself.

You can either bitch and moan for the rest of your life waiting for government to come in and solve all your problems, or you can go out in the real world and actually make a difference in the lives of others. Do something other than read columns and lecture other people how to vote.

This is little more than a desperation move in an election year. He's now announced massive tax breaks for businesses too. The Dem's are running like scared rabbits and the bunny in chief is pulling out all the stops in a last ditch effort to try turn the mid-terms around.

With less than 60 days to go, I expect more of this will be forthcoming. It will all be little more than political posturing. Nothing short of postponing the elections will change the outcome.

Recognize these moves for what they are. Most of you should be smart enough to understand what's truly happening here. Congress is due back in session next week after summer recess has ended. They'll meet for a week or so and hit the campaign trail. Put two and two together. What's going to happen with these empty promises?

Dem's are hoping that Repubs will renounce these projects so that can be used as fodder against them in the run-up to the mid-terms.

I thought we earlier passed a stimulus bills that included billions worth of shovel ready projects on the nations infrastructure, what happened? Isn't the infrastructure upgrade a reason used to approve the $860,000,000,000+ that was earlier passed??? that wasn't enough??

I do NOT like Obama at all, but I don't disagree with this idea at all. Our infrastructure is ridiculous in this country. What I wish he had done was not concocted you know..the..trillions of dollars he threw at shit before this.

Oh just think if the stimulus bill was actually an infrastructure bill like it was originally sold.
