Gee, I have no idea why black civil rights victories might be viewed as more significant than other ethnic groups'. I guess I missed the centuries of enslavement of the Italians, or the time they turned the dogs and fire hoses on the Asian people marching peacefully.

Yeah, because we nuked Africa and six-million blacks were exterminated 60 years ago  Slavery ended 150 years ago in this country.

Six million Jews were killed by Germany, not by the United States. Why would the actions of other countries affect how we feel about overcoming our own racial and ethnic obstacles? In addition, why would nuking matter specifically? It was a war. Our firebombings of cities in Germany and Japan killed far more people than the atomic bombs ever did. Once again, why would our external actions taken during a war affect internal US views of racial and ethnic civil rights progress?

At least when Boberfett mentioned the internment of the Japanese he had a valid example.

You people and you're stunning ignorance is a real treat.

You people? Really? You people?

Seriously though. There is not one former slave alive. There is not one former slave owner/trader alive. Get-fucking-over-it.

There are however, living Holocaust victims. Still, black civil rights issues trump all. Amazing.

I'm wondering how women feel. If this is historical for black people, it also seems historical that we have not yet had a woman President and I doubt we will for a long time.

Or Italian, or Jewish, or Hispanic, or Asian, or gay etc. For some reason, blacks civil rights victories are the only ones that seem to matter.

Yeah, I hear the Japanese WANTED to be put in camps during WW2.

While a few years of internment is certainly shitty, I'm going to call you an idiot for attempting to equate it with centuries of enslavement.

What about the Native Americans???

I will say this... Obama, in the past 3 months as presifent elect has shown 10x the leadership Bush has as the actual president. If you cant see that, you are far too gone down your partisaned road.

By running to Hawaii, supporting corrupt governors, and nominating tax cheats?

By taking action on the economy, where Bush sits on his ass and does nothing and just lests it fail. But, I am not trying top convince you any more. You are a lost cause and are a representative of what is wrong with this country and more so, what is wrong with the republican party. good luck with your anger and hate.

What action? The action that he voted for as a Senator and that Bush executed? Or big talk?

Bush acted greater, faster, bolder, and swifter than any President in the last 4 months of a 2 year term.

Not only am I'm tired of all the "Hoo-ha" surrounding every president in my lifetime...I'm tired of all the Hoo-ha surrounding every local, state, and federal government official too. Lots of other non-government Hoo-ha's on that ever-growing list--including myself.

My Dog is the only exception I can think of right now.

Is it just me, or is anyone else getting sick of all the celebratory hoo-ha surrounding Obama as we approach the inauguration?

It's you. Get over yourself and appreciate the history we're making. It's only a couple of hundred years late.

I don't know, I can see where he is coming from.

It seems we all have very high expectations from the new President in the first place, but then put all this media hoopla on top of that and Obama better perform or it could be one of the shortest "honeymoons" of a new president.
