It's misdemeanor assault and the assailant isn't even jailed. Most of the time the cops write it off as mutual assault.

It’s really not out of control and again you have to remember you live in a super racist super right wing area that has very little to do with the rest of the city.

As someone who rides the subway every day and lives very close to Steve Buscemi the number of random assaults I have seen are zero. (I get that he was assaulted in Manhattan)

If you would like to provide any actual evidence for your claim I’m open to hearing it but I’m pretty sure it’s entirely based on vibes.

Yep the totally fictional and totally made up vibe stuff.. there's a shop I frequent to buy Dawat basmati rice on the corner of 101 avenue and 117th street.

Go ask them yourself how many random assaults have they been a victim of.. none of which were reported btw! They actually had to hire security guards.

If you have a logical explanation as to why apparently these type of assaults went up but people decided to report them at lower rates I’m open to hearing it.

Funny how all the crimes where the stats can’t be fudged are going down but magically all the ones that require us to take your word for it aren’t. Lol.

One thing I have seen a lot of anecdotal evidence for though is cops lying to citizens saying that those types of crimes can’t be charged or whatever, but again that’s just the cops lying because, well, it’s the NYPD.

And I'm asking you for an explanation on how you can magically disprove everyone else's experience.

People do have lives outside of what a camera sees but you seem hell bent on calling everyone a liar unless their experience is well documented.

Well not everything that happens will be shot with a go pro in hi def and documented under strict scrutiny. If anything.. anything caught on camera is "luckily" caught on camera.

For every George Floyd there's probably a 1000 that weren't caught on camera.. but you just wanna believe the police stats, blindly when they favor your talking point.

When the police show rising crime numbers they are true, when they show falling crime numbers people have obviously just stopped reporting crimes.

Do you realize how dumb this sounds?

Random punches, muggings, phone robberies are often underreported.

But the more heinous crimes like hate crime violent assaults, rapes and murders I think the police have a more or less accurate count of those.

It's not a clear cut answer of a clear yes or no. Somewhere inbetween.. probably leaning towards 65% yes. (yes it sounds dumb but there are things missing from stats)

Bro, if they are underreported now, they have always been underreported, unless you have evidence to show that the underreporting has for some reason increased.

Okay, then if other crime stats are decreasing then the underreported crimes are also decreasing, unless you have evidence to suggest that underreported crimes do not follow the same trends as the other crimes.

That basically implies it doesn't happen and it's a low crime thing.

The only difference is now since it happened to a famous person.. there's a spotlight shining on something that's always been vastly underreported.

Crude example but like the Weinstein thing.. once there was a spotlight.. many more victims were willing to report what actually happened.

Except we don’t get the luxury of assessing situations by feels. Numbers drive policing, policy, etc… if people are victims, then they need to report it.
