NYC cop arrested in India over three 9mm rounds

This thread is testament of why P&N is a separate forum. I can't speak for everyone, but reading these stupid replies, I would prefer to see someone's body language when making such ridiculous remarks.

As it stands, I can't see how people can really debate politics over the internet with all the logical fallacies and inability to read people. It leads me to believe they are amateur debaters, but I don't think that is the only thing that drives people to such idiocy.

According to another article, he recently had to recertify at the range. At that time, he put the rounds into his pocket and forget they were there when he packed his bags.
 
They are idiots for doing this. India doesn't respect freedom and needs to let this guy go. Some kind of punishment in the US needs to be given out though.
 
haha, my buddy had a 9mm round in his bag, he got caught in Minneapolis before we left. It was his range bag, he didn't clean out all the way I guess. The TSA said yeah, it happens, no worries. How'd this guy leave the state with them?

The TSA just took the bullet and went to our flight, there was no felony, pat down, rape scene, etc.
 
My AR and .45 fly under the plane.....although this is obviously just political retribution, the guy brought it on himself.

I quadruple check that all my ammo and firearms are packed according to TSA and CA DOJ standards before I even get in the car to the airport.

Internet is for rage and rabble rousing, any debate that happens along the way is unintentional.

My takeaway, in no particular order:
- Indians are being dbags, returning the favor after that idiotic debacle with their diplomat
- lol @ TSA for missing the bullets in the first place
- lol @ zero tolerance types getting some of what they serve
- that guy is fucked and I hope he has enough money to buy enough lawyers or local officials to get out and on with his life, otherwise he is seriously fucked
- this nicely illustrates that all people around the world are assholes. As much as we hate our partisans, the TSA and other local government/enforcement, etc., it's really not much different elsewhere.

TSA is not exactly fool proof. I have inadvertently brought contraband on a plane before (DE razor). Was confiscated on the trip home.

they specifically list safety razors are OK, but then spaz when you have a razor blade. wtf. why would I carry a razor without a blade? why is that blade not OK but a disposable is? they aren't that much more dangerous, hell if you go after someone with a DE you are just as likely to cut the hell out of yourself

The coat was in a checked bag. So it might not have been an issue. Though for international flights there might be more concern.
 
As its a case of revenge, he should surrender to a voluntary strip search in exchange for a safe passage out of the country. 😀

The country is extremely busy with elections, no political leader will have time to look into his case and none of them will risk touching his case before election ends in fear of loosing votes, no matter which way he goes... he is pretty royally screwed
 
I travel a lot for business, to developed and developing countries, and I find the "accidentally left three bullets in the pocket of a jacket " is very disturbing and troublesome.


When you travel to developing countries, do not, repeat, do not bring anything that custom agents can use as an excuse to detain/harrash you. Nothing.

he was going to a foreign country. fucker should have made sure he didn't have anything illegal.

I am wanting to make a joke about the cop having three bullets and being from NYC while NYC passed a law making more than seven bullets in a gun illegal.

india may be corrupt, but this guy definitely was a halfwit. Anyone who cant keep their ammo organized doesnt deserve to own them.
 
So, as described, the American cop was in the wrong, and the Indian TSA guy was correct to arrest him.

I don't see a problem, except that the American cop made a really stupid mistake.

IIRC, the diplomat was treating her servants like slaves. Not exactly unheard of. We had an MP that was had up for this a couple years ago. She deserved what she got.

The cop though should have known better. Americans seem to keep conveniently forgetting that other countries don't have the same liberal gun laws they do. The constitution stops at the border, as someone already said. No sympathy here.
