Harlem Police Officer Manny Encarnacion, "who had accidentally left three bullets in the pocket of a jacket in his checked luggage" was arrested when he flew to New Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport March 10, for a vacation with his wife Vida, according to the New York Post.

By Post's account, a security officer at the airport snarked, "You guys like to strip-search our diplomats," as Encarnacion was arrested on felony charges under India's Arms Act of 1959 - punishable by anywhere from three to seven years.

Oh the irony of a NYC cop getting arrested over a stupid gun law. But it's unfortunate that he would lose his job if convicted of a felony.

OK, so? If you travel to someone elses country you better know the laws and follow them to a T. esp a 3rd world country like India that is known for corruption.

That's not corruption. That's a cop who is a halfwit. Every time I travel I break down my bags and check everything that is inside of it. There are far too many stories like this where some idiot leaves a gun or a joint in their bag and does time. Places like Thailand, Singapore, or India are notorious for dropping the hammer.

Common sense people. This guy had none.

Yea countries they make Texas look like a hippy liberal land in their usage of the death penalty.

Just remember the constitution stops at the border, it does not come with you. When you are in someone else's country and get in trouble, better hope the State Department has good ties and treaties with them.

Yes music videos are a very good representation of the US as well. Take for instance wrecking ball, thriller, any katy perry video, any 2pac video, etc. All perfect representations of the USA.

The closest thing we get to reality is the "let me take a selfie" song.

India, the country we're talking about, has only executed 4 people in the last 20 years.

I was talking more about Thailand and Singapore you brought up. I know they are more strict even with death for drug running.

When you enter these countries though there are signs, banners, announcements, fliers, etc that all tell you they will fucking kill you (basically in those words) if you try to traffic drugs. Weapons, human trafficking, terrorism, and a few other crimes are frowned upon by death as well.

Every time I'm down there it's almost tradition to lay out the contents of our bags on the bed and repack everything. Just to be sure. I've read enough books about people entering their prison systems to know that I don't want to get caught as an unknowing mule.

Lets all shed a tear over a NYPD cop having ridiculous laws applied to him.

What about requiring a license to have live ammo makes it ridiculous?

CHAPTER II ACQUISITION, POSSESSION, MANUFACTURE, SALE, IMPORT, EXPORT, AND TRANSPORT OF ARMS AND AMMUNITION

3. Licence for acquisition and possession of firearms and ammunition.

No person shall acquire, have in his possession, or carry any firearm or ammunition unless he holds in this behalf a licence issued in accordance with the provisions of this Act and the rules made thereunder:

Well, it should. You would think after all the countries we have liberated US citizens would get special treatment.

I'd say lets invade India, but even the Indians don't want to live there.

Is it normal to have bullets stuffed in your jacket pocket?

Was thinking the same thing, who the hell just leaves bullets loose in their jacket pocket?

"Oh no, honey, I forgot to take the bullets out of your jacket before I washed it. We'll have to dry them on the window sill."
