What difference does it make if there are two people making a campaign or 2 dozen?

I've played many NWN1 modules that were made by individuals and groups that were above anything that Bioware created and could easily be called professional grade. Some people choose to work developing games for a living, others choose it as a hobby. Nothing wrong with that.

Incidentally, from what I've read on the Rogue Dao dev team, I'd label them as between semi-professional and professional. They have obvious skill and talent, as evidenced by their screen shots, trailers, and the closed beta remarks. However, they aren't being paid for their work by any parent entity, they work on the mod because they enjoy it.

The core Rogue Dao guys are, I believe, former PW builders who decided to go for a single-player mod this time.

The difference is division of responsibility and chopping up the task into pieces more easily done by one person. 24 people can get more done in a month than 2 people can trying to do it all.

Right, and...?

I'm stating that the NWN2 toolset is more cumbersome, complex, buggier and performs more poorly than that of the NWN toolset. It requires a need to chop up the areas of responsibility into smaller pieces (scripting, 3D modeling, texturing, story writing, are creation, etc). You just validated what I said.

The NWN toolset is easier in that a DM could make his own and not have to bring in a couple score experts and professionals.

I didn't say they weren't. I said that the tool is a poor performer, overly complex in comparison to the original NWN toolset and requires a team of pros to break up the resposibility because less than a platoon experts couldn't do it.

I speculated that the majority of DMs on neverwinterconnections are running NWN campaigns because they can make enjoyable modules with that toolset, by themselves.

NWN2's toolset is too bulky and buggy. It'll take a more than a week to make one area.

I bought the game upon its initial release and never really had a problem with it. Certainly nothing game breaking for me (though they it was missing alot of features from NWN1 that they later re-added through patches). I don't know if its hit or miss with these bugs. In anycase, I never did finish the game though (jumped onto EQ2) but I may restart this again. The expansion sounds nice.

I've been oogling various games running 1920x1200 with 24x edge detect AA on and 16x anisotropic. They don't exactly run very fast though. :(

Hehe not surprised,I'm happy at 1680x1050 res with no AA for my games(more of an AF fan then AA).

It wasn't in stock at two of the Gamestops I've called here in Phoenix AZ, if anyone is curious. I'll probably have to check tomorrow. Just as well, I should be using this time to finish homework and study for my exams.

That's weird since the UK/Europe date was spot on,however it seems in US there's a delay of some sort?

I also checked around at Microcenter, Target, 2 Gamestops, Circut City, and a ToysRUS, and not a single store had a copy Bestbuy also indicated they won't even have it till the 11th. So avalibility on Launch day Sucks to put it mildly, I guess if i really wanted it I should have just got it online.

Another question about what they added or not added:

Did they add new elf/half-elf heads and faces? They put in a pitance in the original and all of those heads were ugly.

While I would love to see more heads, faces, and generally more models included from the Devs, NWN2 does allow the creation of additional models just as the Aurora engine does.

No. And the heads for the new races (Genasi) are just as ugly.

I was actually able to improve some of the head meshes using 3DSM (import/export with Adinos/Tazpn utilities), but I had a problem exporting them back into NWN without the textures getting all screwed up (specularity and bump maps in particular).

Target had a sign saying they'd have it Friday. YMMV.

People in the official forum are reporting that Gamespot has it tomorrow.

How many here play NWN2 in online groups/campaigns?

When I was designing a module for NWN, I planned on ensuring the characters didn't see each other until the action started.

As they logged into the game for the first time, they would be transported to their own room and not allowed to see each other.

I was trying for the effect of them being thrown together by circumstance that day, not trying to come up with a story as to how they met.

They would happen to be in the same small village at the moment a crisis occured and would then have to work together to save the people. From there, the story would get deeper.

I was hoping it would be received well, but the project fizzled out as my marriage ended.

I also intended to have my old BG series ranger, whose stats were godly even w/o magic enhancements, and Jaheira, his love, in there as major characters. They are entitled to longevity.

I may still work on this here and there.

This looks very important issue,

Hello Everyone,

There is currently a patch available on the Autopatcher. DO NOT INSTALL THIS PATCH!

If you do, it will overwrite your CD Key(s) and cause you much havoc.

Edit
If this patch has already been installed, you will need to manually open the file "nwncdkey.ini" and replace the CD key(s) with the original keys you entered at the time of installing the game. The file can be found in the NWN2 install folder.

If you have a backup of nwn2cdkey.ini from after you installed MotB, you can instead just restore the file from your backup.

Link.

Damn, that's not good!

I think I'm waiting longer to consider buying.

NWN2 is w/o doubt, the buggiest game in my playing history.

See my thread on Gothic 3. :p
Personally how could they ever release NWN2 -MoB in such a state?..Even G3 and other games I could meantion were nowhere near this bad, sorry I think NWN2- MoB wins this one for buggiest game,I'm sure apoppin will agree with me ;).

And they have been bug fixing since June or even earlier, how did this slip through.

Difference between G3 and NWN2/MoB is quite simple, patches in G3 actually fixes things, while NWN2 1.10 patch/autopatcher for example breaks things.

I like the game but got to call it as I see it.
