I'm ready for an 1180Ti (2080Ti?), but I really need a nice 8K 120Hz monitor to use with it. :p

Except this year all prices will be 30% higher (matching the performance gain) because "miners", which I feel is starting to be at least partially used as cover for price gouging.

Like sharks drawn to blood in the water... I fear that for both memory and GPUs the prices will remain inhumanly high, just because they can now after having tasted the extra money. 900+ Euro for a 1080 Ti = no thank you. We'll see eh?

The single most exciting hardware upgrade to me remains the GPU. Therefor I cannot hold out until a Ti and will very likely hop on as soon as the 2080s release :D

- Wow this post adds nothing to the discussion.

Sais the guy with an 8700K already, HAH. You got that part nailed down pretty TIGHT!

For gaming it's pretty much ALL GPU, unless you are going extremely lopsided like pairing a Titan and an i3.

In which case I would recommend seeing a head doctor :p

Nevertheless, the newly aquired 8700K upped my min FPS nice as compared to the SKL i5 = worth it IMHO. (Not in reply to you Peter.)

Oh you had an i5. Yeah those tend to suffer these days. Well now you are ready to wreck that Volta when it finally decides to drop. You got 12 lunatic threads, each flying at ludicrous speed all without wearing a seat belt, ready to smash data down that Volta's throat fast enough to make it choke.

I want GTX 1060 3 GB performance out of GTX 2050, for a price of GTX 1050, and I want it yesterday!
I was thinking that Nvidia could use 192 Bit GDDR5 bus, but after all, after thinking, much more sense from business point of view gives 128 bit GDDR6 and 4 GB of VRAM for both: GTX 2050 and GTX 2050 Ti.

I'm expecting leaks to start November/December and continue up to launch, March-May time IMO

I don't think we will get any real leaks before next year. I checked the timeframes for pascal and it's been march until we got leaks which were more than just made up stuff by wccftech. The good old times with many leaks are over.

99.999999% certain that we will get GTX Titan XV in Q1 2018 and that it will be the first Volta card for us consumers.

It will be the first card out because A) It use HBM, not GDDR6 and wont have to wait for that to be ready and B) It will cost $999+ which justify the use of more expensive packaging plus it use the same type of packaging as Tesla V100 which they already have the tools up and running to manufacture today.
C) Due to the high cost of the card Nvidia can also justify using 12nm this early when the process cost the most and the yields are the lowest.

February or March next year i my guess for Titan XV. With GV104 following in around May with GDDR6

What makes you certain about it? Nvidia has not yet released a consumer card with HBM - there has simply been no need for them to do so. Also, while I don't have technical information on 12nm yields, from my understanding it's not that much different than their 16nm ff+. Transistor density is VERY similar; it's the efficiency that has gone up (by approximately 30%). Any yield issues Nvidia and TSMC will have will likely be mostly die-size related, not because of a complexity increase in transistor formation or density.

I don't see Nvidia altering their current strategy of releasing the Gx04 part first, then later coming out with the Titan part. I do agree with a May release time frame for GV104, though. early this year I thought they'd have it out by this November / December, but that was obviously wishful thinking. 22-24 months is the cycle.

Without context of Pascal power, don't know whether that is a good or bad result. Sounds good though.

that is on par with a GTX1080:

Looks like NVIDIA is not done with GeForce GTX 10 series just yet. A new TITAN with the LED-illuminated shroud is coming. Little is known at this point, but we can easily assume it won’t be cheap.

The new card will be the seventh installment in TITAN series. It’s hard to keep track so I made a list:

  • GeForce GTX TITAN (Kepler)
  • GeForce GTX TITAN Black (Kepler)
  • GeForce GTX TITAN Z (Kepler)
  • GeForce GTX TITAN X (Maxwell)
  • TITAN X (Pascal)
  • TITAN Xp (Pascal)
  • TITAN X(?) Collector’s Edition (?)
Theoretically, the new model could also be called TITAN Xp Collector’s. Although the fastest TITAN ix currently TITAN Xp, the name on the card is still TITAN X.

This is for sure a Pascal card not a Volta card? becase IMO releasing another third Pascal titan is just stupid.

How many Volta cards do I need to drive this? (Oh lawd... used Quadros...)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Toft6fMvByA

16k.... I don't think 4K feels so satisfying :(

Edit: Rofl.... loved how he went into the whole pro cards/quadros aren't for gaming. If you went to LInus university you would know pro cards are fine for gaming!

NVIDIA Next Generation GPU Rumored To Be Called “Ampere” – Will Be Announced at GTC 2018

heise.de said:
From Pascal to Ampere
At the end of the third quarter, Nvidia unveiled the GeForce GTX 1070 Ti , positioned between the GeForce GTX 1070 and GeForce GTX 1080 gaming graphics cards already available. The GTX-1000 graphics cards are all based on Pascal series GPUs. Information on upcoming GPU generation, which should appear under the name "ampere", there should be the GPU Technology Conference 2018.

https://www.heise.de/newsticker/mel...eftiger-Gewinnsprung-dank-Gaming-3887633.html

Now considering this is just a rumor and no other details are mentioned, it’s advised to take this information with a grain of salt.
