Try running it on a PS3 or Xbox360...are you going to be so stupid I need to school your ass over what the engine does, compared to all other engines? ^^^
Or are you just mad someone don't like the new crapboxes, they stagnation an their crappy specs (like I always have said about consoles)
?
Or are you just mad at me? ^^

In order to be mad at you, I'd have to expect something different. But I am (unfortunately) all too familiar with you.

Where on earth are you buying your graphics cards from? Because I want a $40 HD 7850!

I'm comparing component costs. I'm talking about the GPU alone. Not the total cost of the PCB, memory, and other components on a complete card.

A HD 7850 can be had for as little as $160, and figure the GPU alone is roughly 25% of the total cost.

I have never owned a console.If they had mouse/keyboard?Maybe,But I honestly don't like consoles.

But AMD is not doing this for free...so more power to them when they make their profit.

Longbjerg in your infinite wisdom can you please explain to me why you continue to compare the upcoming consoles to the ps3 and xbox 360?

They were sold at a loss from the start. The ps4 and xbox next are going to be sold for a profit, or very minimal loss. Sony will not be building their own foundry's to fab the APU in the ps4. They are using semi custom parts that were already designed by AMD. They are making developement cheaper and easier by going x86.

This looks far better than Arma3 also... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zMtyyqoMd4Y (yes yes, gameplay. we know, we know, but who cares)

Yes, we all know that PC's are more powerful than consoles. It's a tech enthusiast forum so try telling us something we don't already know. Now instead of making this PC vs. Console which is not even remotely close to what this thread is about try posting on topic and stop with your constant thread crapping. I don't hink I have ever seen an on topic post from you. It could be a thread about RAM timings and you would enter it and start talking about how ARMA 3 is awesome and that anyone that disagrees with you is an idiot.

According to this they turned profitable 3 years ago. I don't know if that means they recouped the total investment, or that they are selling for more than they cost finally. Either way, that was 3 years ago.

Sure, in the last few years. But since the consoles are close to dead due to new consoles. There is no way to recoup it.

Loss, loss, loss nomatter how you turn it.

The game software biz is comparable to Hollywood movies. Those GFWL and Windows logos on the boxes don't come for free. MS gets a piece of all games for it's console. Sony the same. Those exclusive titles like Gran Turismo, probably much more %.

But they dont get enough to turn a profit. I wonder if the nextgen 70$ games is simply a 10$ addon for Sony/MS.

About the initial costs of the ps3. (Note the CPU and GPU prices)
ps3_costs_isupply.gif

wow, i knew Blue ray was pricy back than...but holy #$%!!, as expensive as the gpu.....i was expecting that cell was more expensive, Oo

now i can see why AMD easily won the consoles, PS3 cpu+gpu+shouth bridge cost 277 bucks... i can't see PS4 SOC costing more than 180

Which bring me to my second point, thnaks for using the fallacy.

You talk like a game on a console and a PC is the same, but you ignore facts like
- Resolution (upscaled dosn't mean HD)
- Shadowmaps
- Textures
- FPS
- Draw distance
- AA
- AF

By your definition MEtro 2033 is the same on a conole or a PC
Amusingly, you open with an accusation of fallacious reasoning, then put a bunch of words in his mouth and beat the strawman to death. Please pay more attention to what you're replying to.

For example:
You call it "next-gen"...LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

It's DX11 hardware ffs....we have that already!!!

PS4 and the new Xbox will NOT be albe to run "next-gen" games.
This has nothing to do with the post you're attacking at all.He was responding to your announcement that "everyone knows consoles are sold at a loss", and asked for your proof this will be the case with this upcoming generation. You go off the deep end trolloling and not responding to what posters have actually said, when in fact you are the one arguing so many different things to attack consoles it seems you lose track yourself.

You are the one who brought up sales, and this thread isn't even about the 360 or PS3, it's about the PS4. Well? Do you have proof the PS4 and Durango will be sold at a loss? Back up your blanket statements or don't make them.

LOLOLOLOLolololol...
Indeed...

Nvidia is already doing to AMD what Intel did to AMD, the GTX Titan is their 3960x and there is no response from AMD nor will there likely be one either in the foreseeable future.

This is exactly what Nvidia always wanted, the $1000 "Extreme Edition", with their mid-range taking the bulk of the sales from $250 to $500+.

Kepler completely rewrote the books on AMD, they virtually have nothing to hang their hat on right now. It's just a simple fight for survival and trying to get to the next node with something better at this point imo.

The problem with saying everyone would be screwed is the fact that Intel shows us that companies with dominance need to create compelling products for existing customers to upgrade into.

Just look at how Ivy Bridge went over in our community with Sandy users, like a lead balloon...

If Nvidia was the only real player at $200+ on 20nm with Maxwell, what reason would people have to buy the cards, if they weren't offering compelling perf/w and perf/$ increases? None, and Nvidia would be stuck with stockpiles of products they couldn't move because they couldn't offer a compelling reason for people to buy them.
What....are you dreaming out loud?
AMD owns pretty much every class segment......NVDA had to make a thousand dollar Titan to compete.
HD7970GHz owns GTX680
HD7950 OC and HD7870 pwn too.
Even GTX690 gets beat by various Tahiti X2 cards.
And now with a big console contract to supply.....
"NVIDIA are on a roll, down a hill, on fire, heading toward spikes.
AMD, are in fluffy cloud land, rolling in money, sex and champagne."

Yeah, AMD owned so hard that they needed to adjust their prices five times, buying developers and game codes to sell their stuff.

I guess there must be a reason why their gpu business is down from last year again...

It's nice to see AMD garner revenue from their technologies, specifically APU's, custom SOC design wins.

It seems to me that AMD was a better fit here for console companies, while nVidia seems to focus more on mobile and its growth.

Hopefully, AMD can garner awareness for their PC product offerings from their console design wins and will be interesting to see how this plays out!

Imho,

This is why I allow the market as a whole to decide! A hardened AMD or nVidia fan may offer extremer words like owned or dominate but the key is the market and how it reacts to their technologies and product offerings.

Hopefully AMD can garner more revenue, margins and share and will be interesting to see how the never settle bundle 2, competitive pricing and products, improved developer relations have translated into for AMD.

Is that why Nvidia's GeForce division makes ~10x the profit of AMD's GPU division quarter after quarter?

Right, because AMD is "in the lead" and Nvidia is "scrambling to catch up". Please get a clue as to how this business works. AMD is not "rolling in money" - they have been losing money quarter after quarter.

BTW, Nvidia could outright buy AMD with the cash that it has on hand RIGHT NOW, so once again, your proclamations that AMD is sitting pretty while Nvidia cowers in fear are completely and utterly baseless.

I might be missing your /sarcasm tag on this.
