Still based on 110nm G70, but 800mhz core... :Q

New and improved dual slot, which is silent... :D
This is going to be some battle..

Discuss.

How much is it going to cost? $800? $1000??? Call me when high end video card prices return to the land of the sane.

I thought I was crazy when I paied $300 for my then-top-of the line GF3 and then I thought I was nuts paying $350 for a 6800GT.

NO MORE.

Yes, the price is getting ridiculous... but i wouldnt be surprised if the ultra versions would be in limited quantites.. at maybe $700ish,, but its damn expensive.

Same here. Of course, I wasn't looking to buy immediately anyway (mainly because I have yet to buy an A64 and motherboard), but this is starting to look exciting. :D

woah this truly looks like a monster of a card. ATI could be in some serious trouble considering the fact they are already 3 - 4 months late.

Or you can see it the other way? Nvidia knows what R520 is capable of and rushing to release something when it will be released? ;)

We can play this game for days , why not just wait some more time and see? :)

Maybe alot of marketing FUD going on here.

800mhz? no.

Transistor count is too high. A 110nm card wont do 800mhz with 24 pipes and a PVP.

The only way you will see clockspeeds like this is Direct Phase-change or LN2 on the core.

I would expect 625mhz at the most for stock speeds.

Edit: with very limited overclockablility at that speed (625).

What game are you playing exactly?

This is inquirer. I doubt it will be 800mhz unless that's DDR speeds(Someone makes 1.6hz memory right?). At that point, all things being equal, 800x24=600x32, but I really see NV trying to add more pipes rather than add more MHZ. That would be more pratical anyway as far as cooling/stability/power draw.

Edit: Unless they want ot give all the buyers a fre phase cooling setup & PS.

"But it was achieved using new and improved two-slot cooling, not water or phase-change cooling.

Are they retarded? A top end SKU with almost 2x the clock of the next card down on the same process?

hmm ya....it could be another one of theinquirer's misguided information but it does seem exciting.

"After the company from Satan Clara learned that R520 is going to use dual slot copper cooling in X850XT Press Edition-style"

that made me chuckle :D

is this what everyone's excited about?:
We have learned that several boards achieved a clock speed of 800MHz

several boards? :p

there might be a "UltraExtremeO/C" {press edition} with an official clock of 800Mhz just to keep the performance crown. But most of us wont have the bucks for it.

ME?: i'm dropping out of this ridiculously expensive PC graphics "game".

I suppose Anand happened to not get ONE of those boards then, since he only got it stable up to 475

If they are dual slot, that will mean they can't be put into an SLI config right?

I wonder how it will compare in price / performance to a 7800GTX SLI setup.

6800 Ultras are dual-slot.

If they bring out a 7800U Dual like the dual 6600GT

Do you think it will have to be like quadruple slot cooling solution or do you think theyll just say "ahh f**k it its gonna cost them 1500 to buy might as well add another 1000 for phase cooling..."?

:p

There tweaking the G70 core, think they are refining it more to create headroom, hence increasing the clock speed.

who will win.. ready fight!!!

You'll have two slot up and two slots down taken... Maybe one day MBs will come with a frig slot, and you put your card in the frig slot... Who needs fans?
