If this turns out to be Fermi release date/pricing/benchmarks and it's a March hard launch, you can bet Charlie's recent article had a lot to do with the decision to finally deliver some official news.

Think about how many people have read that article. Bullshit or not, it's a doubt caster. How many would give up and just buy ATI.

Okay nV, I'll be tuning in..

Publicly apologize for Their Impropriety and vow to live up to the standards the Public demands of a role model. They'll release a Product once they get out of Rehab, which is going well, but they're just not ready to return yet.

I think they will announce fermi is better than the 5870 and that fermi is being mass produced.

Oh wait they did that already.

yes, but JHH will be doing the apology. then he will explain how sex rehab isn't so bad, at which point every female in the room (all 3 of them) will throw up.

I predict two things:

1. fermi is going to suck for us gamers, though it will do just fine in hpc/f@h/etc.
2. nvidia marketing is going to go into overdrive and convince the entire world that fermi is the best thing to happen to the world since obama got elected. they will end 2010 with higher market share than 2009. Every engineer at ati will commit suicide.

It would be pretty funny if JHH came out and said "Our Fermi GTX480 is broken and unfixable"

Anybody remember the "power of 3" countdown? That was an epic fail. Nvidia started a countdown, then when it was up all it said was the power of 3. Physx, sli and cuda or some bullshit.

Maybe it has something to do with their 3d vision surround? I don't care for the 3d portion, but am eagerly awaiting vendor-supported surround gaming on my existing hardware.

I follow nV on Facebook and they just threw up a post saying a big announcement is coming. Anyone heard anything or know of when more NDAs lift?

I want to hear about new features and technologies (other than games) Nvidia is developing in order to make their products more beneficial to users like me.

3D rotating Desktop (So my screens can feel like they have more more real-estate) would be nice.

(As far as gaming goes) News like "we have the most giant chip possible" really doesn't seem exciting when I know ATI is working on efficient technologies to synchronize their smaller GPUs.

I remember using something like that a while ago, might have been a sphere though.
It was horrible to use :(.
If you need more real estate just use some virtual desktops, or better still run an extra monitor.

Maybe JHH will announce a new Multi-GPU technology that will be a huge improvement over their current tech.

That would make me quite happy as I already think their Surround View looks less "messy" than the ATI Eyefinity hardware route (with passive and active adapter thing, display port timing stuff, etc)

In one link there is a picture of a green tinted computer case next to a man wearing a hood holding up a green LCD with the words "Are you ready".

EDIT: I found the picture here--->http://news.bigdownload.com/2010/02/20/are-you-ready-for-nvidias-big-announcement-monday/

Do you think this announcement will have anything to do with specially designed computer cases certified to work with 480 GTX?

hehe, maybe. I suspect it has something to do with Fermi specifically and not just a Certified Case though.

They announced the part names a month ago so at the very least this will be pricing information and possibly a launch date.

Just my guess here, but I think they might be announcing a lowered tiered Fermi based part(s) (460/450?) derived from harvested cores that might be available soon with the higher end 470/480 given date and essentially soft launched in minute quantities. As the yields increase, this part could be simply phased out. All they really need to shoot for is 5870~5850 level performance. Getting anything out of lower clocked/shader disabled chips is going to help.

"we ran a simulation of the earth on our cuda farm and it predicted that the world will do end in 2012. buy nvidia now and experience 3d and physx before the world ends!
*we will not be releasing fermi anymore as we feel that our current product line is sufficient enough to last until 2012. most of the games are console ports anyway"
