NV35 Benchmarks

Right on, man! Small computers like the Shuttle XPC are becoming increasingly popular for gaming, and those people (like myself) are currently forced to use Radeon 9700 and 9800 series cards if they want to build a small high-end gaming system. It would be nice to see Nvidia offer some competition in this arena, but it's never going to happen if they keep producing high-end cards with these insane power and cooling requirements.

diversity is the spice of life

it won't hurt nvidia to make the card un-adaptable to mini pc's, at least not yet.
many folks won't be buying the latest and greatest video cards due to price not to mention the price of those smaller cases lol

soon there won't be pci slots made anymore and there goes that arguement,and there will always be something to argue over lol at least as long as the products are different yet do the same job

i am not a nvidia fan but if they produce a card that beats the 9700 pro by the 1400 3dmark score (nope i am not a fan of 3dmark either lol) i saw then i will definately give that card a shot....i get 5200 on mine last time i checked,thats a severe increase in eye candy lol

These 3dmark scores mean nothing to me. We've already seen that nVidia was optimizing for 3dmark03 in order to prove its uselessness as a benchmark. NV30 was a good performer in the test after a few optimizations, but the card was still getting killed in real gamin scenarios. That's all I care about, I want to see how the NV35 performs in UT2k3 and Splinter Cell, then I'll start to pass judgement.

As a gamer 3DMark means nothing to me,I just want to see how well the NV35 performs in real games,the main changes I want to see is a quieter card ,the performance will be better then the NV30 but we really don`t know by how much at this time and AA/AF performance will be interesting to see,as for using PCI slot 1 area well I `m not bothered by that ,being I aways leave it empty anyway.


I`ve not read all the posts but there was some remarks to Nvidia drivers,all I can say is they have been rock solid for me for the last 3 years(as a heavy gamer) and stability with drivers is the main thing I want for gaming which`s really all I care about.I buy a video card to play games period not to see how well it does in 3Dmark or if it`s faster or slower then MR.xxx 3D card living next door.

Bottom line is if somebody buys an ATi card or Nvidia card you should respect their choice period.

We all should be glad that Nvidia & ATi are there still fighting, because right now they are the only two companies that are offering the gamer any real choices.

Just like everyone scorned ATI for it, nvidia gets its turn. Of course, our "cheat" only affected one game (not any games based on the same engine) Nvidia's FP precision crap affects anything DX9. I hope they learn from it like ATI did but I'm wondering exactly what they did to get that performance boost. I hope they learned...

Not that I'm up and up on who cheated on what, but it sure sounds like when you say "OUR CHEAT..." you mean you are part of ATI. That, or ATI owners feel really close

That's right. I felt that I was being attacked for it and that my points weren't being given their fair consideration because of it. After all, I don't think that it's that relevant. Besides, I was very grumpy that night and posted some things that I don't think I would have normally. I didn't want it to look bad for my employer either.

I'm a little suspicious of that hamster wheel motor fan and two slot design with the HUGE heatsink and what that says but then, I'm hearing some pretty positive things about the GPU and drivers so I'm hopefull that Nvidia can be competitive again.

That's all 6! and definately no room for the FX

New mobos had Ethernet integrated, its almost a standard feature now. Also Most new cases have hookups for front USB headers. You can make room.

The "Shuttle PCs and micro-ATX" is argument is nothing. I don't think anyone serious about comp building would put a pimp-ass card in a case like that. I guess unless your building a comp for your idiot friend who wants to hook it up to his 42"+ plasma TV to play Quake 4 (or something else that he doesn't realize won't be out for a long time). Also, if you can afford a $400-500 card, you prolly have a good enough mobo with alot of built in shiot that you don't need to worry 'bout PCI slots. If you don't, get a new mobo before you buy that vid card!
