I do think you're getting a little over reactive about the whole weed thing, though (and I probably think weed is just as lame as you do). As long as that isn't affecting you then you shouldn't bother with it. If he tells you stuff about it or complains about stuff that happens because of it (this case), then you should just tell him you don't want to hear about it or that it's his own fault.

All things considered, it could be worse. I don't know why your so worried about getting your room searched...unless you have some kiddie pron hidden under your bed, I don't think they are going to care about what you do.
 
I think it is a little silly that your so mad about this but, I understand your concern, just realize that as long if he doesn't have it in your room that it really doesn't matter. If you still can't get over it maybe you should think about changing roommates or suggest that he should move into a different room, and you will get a different roommate(if you can do that at your school, ussually you can). I think that would solve the problem on all ends and end a little bit of stress for each of you.

I am glad to see that you decided your not going to turn him in, which would make you a Narc/part of the hitler youth. IMO
 
Here's a scenario, since you've got a druggie for a roomy:

They find pot in your room. I guarantee you that he'll say he knows nothing about it, that's what all pot smokers do. I'm not saying he'll say its yours, but I'll bet you the farm that he'll deny deny deny that he knows anything about it, which of course implicates you. If it isn't his, then who the hell else could it belong to? There are only two of you. His denial is an implicit accusation against you.

So now you've got to defend yourself against something you have no part of. Get his slobbish gangsta-wannabe baggy clothes wearing reefer smoking 'I don't know how to pronounce a simple word like cool' ass thrown out if you have any chance at all.

To you and NuclearFusi0n1. The guy was caught with 2 roaches for 2 people and a rolling device. He is in college which mean he probably just moved from at least a few cities away. NightFlyerGTI is the one who came up with the assumtion they will search the room because the guy had to give his address. He is obviously not a dealer, and you need more then two roachs ( a LOT more) to have them consider siezing or even searching the residence. If they found a scale on him and other drugs, then you have to start worring. There is no way in hell they will sieze the entire dorm room full of stuff until they find out somehow this guy is at least a drug dealer. Its weed, the penelty shows its not a big crime to smoke it. Just remeber the thought of raiding came from the guy starting this thread.

THIS time he had two roaches. What happens when he finds a really good deal on a couple of ounces? What happens if he's caught with his dealer in his car, and the cops assume the large quantity is his? Remember, cops now will assume you're a dealer even if you have less than a ounce on you, or if you have your weed in more than one baggy.

The point is, NightFlyer does not do drugs. He obviously does not know this guy, or what he is involved with. Why should NF take ANY risk for this guy's actions when he doesn't even do the drugs?

It's just not worth keeping the guy as a roomie. I'm not advocating ratting him out. Just changing roomies. Besides, the guy is a slob. I'd have booted him a long time before this simply for being a slob. 😛
 
Your taking this waaaaaaaaaaaay to far. I'll admit there is a risk since he doesn't know the guy, but from what the story NF said its highly unlikly. I have known people who grow and people who just deal. The always have more then 2 joints on them. If someone calls them they don't want to go all the way back to their house/apt. If you got a good deal on a ounce, his roomate would smell it VERY quickly. This guy is obvisouly very opposed to weed, and so if a problem did arise where the cops would have to search (in itself is waaaaaaay unlikly) they would easly be able to see who smokes. The risks in giving the guy at least a chance are so small you can't even imagine. My opinion probably doesn't matter to him though since I am a "biased weed smoker." The guy would be happy to leave if you continue to call his actions stupid. I also tell you guys have never interacted with anything but the suburian way of life. ". You are kidding yourselves if you think the threat of asset forfeiture is not a serious one. Once assets are seized the DEA has 60 days to legally turn your former possessions into the governments property and believe me they make enough money off of this process to have a great interest in meeting the legal hurdles. Likewise with the sharing programs that are setup between the local law enforcement units and the Feds gives the locals a vested interest in turning seized assets into government property as well. The only thing a college student would have going for himself in this process is that they make a lot more money off of seized aircraft, cars, vessels, and cash to spend much time worrying about seizing a dorm room full of clothing, a stereo, TV, and a couple of PCs.

Woah there, Nelly. I lived or worked in or near Flint Michigan for 30 years. It doesn't get any more non-sheltered non-suburban than Dort HWY and Lippincott, where I worked third shift for nearly three years, or Grand Traverse and 5th Ave, where I also worked second or third shift for three years, and socialized with the locals all the time.

Sure, they're not 'half bad' to socialize and shoot the sh-t with from time to time. Hell, I've known a few people who have been esteemed guests at some of our finer federal and state prisons who aren't 'half bad' to shoot the sh-t with from time to time. At one time or another, I've mingled with prostitutes, drug dealers, street vagrants, drug addicts, gang members, convicted felons, you name it. I've got friends in places so low that you'd piss your pants just driving through with the windows up and doors locked.

Sure, they're not 'half-bad' to socialize with now and again. I mean, the cretins of our society aren't always acting like cretins around the clock, they can be downright friendly if they know you.

That doesn't mean I trust them any further than I could throw a house and I sure as hell don't want to be 'roomies' or neighbors with them.

We can agree there is something FUNDAMENTALLY WRONG and in a major way with the character of a person who seeks to emulate a highly disfunctional culture that is entrenched in ghetto mentalities and criminal lifestyles.

I think you have no clue. I am willing to bet you have alot of 'friends' who are pot smokers but do not disclose that to you because of your views towards it. I am willing to bet at least a few of the professors there are pot smokers, but since it is illegal to use they will not ever disclose they smoke weed.

Back in the 60's when weed was out there everywhere the government tried to pass weed off as a death drug that makes you go blind, which has since been proven false. I have never heard anyone 'smoking' themselves to death like other drugs can do these days.

I can tell when someone has never tried weed before. They are under the impression it is a life ending drug that will make someone homeless and jobless, which isn't true. I know several 'high profile' people in my community that smokes weed and has a huge job. Just like beer, you need to know when and when not to use.

As long as he is respectful enough to no bring it into the dorm, DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT. IT ISN'T YOUR PROBLEM OR ANY OF YOUR BUSINESS WHAT HE DOES IN HIS OWN FREE TIME, EVEN IF IT IS AGAINST THE LAW.

BTW, I am an ex'pot smoker and can tell you first hand, it does not make you go kill people or rob people for it. It is nothing like any other drug in the sense that it makes you go mad if you do not have it.

If your friend wants to spend his money on a bag instead of a movie, then let him!! It is his life and you do not have any right in the world to interfer in another human beings life unless it is directly affecting you, which it sounds like it isn't other then the knowledge knowing he does

Also, The Brits just passed a law that makes pot posession a ticketable offense instead of an arrestable offense. The US usually follows suit with Britian in it's laws etc... so I am actually expecting pot to be 'not as illegal' in 5-10 years.

Funny how common this used to be before "The War On Drugs" began in earnest. I recall being in an apartment that the cops came by to ask us to quiet down a bit and there were bongs on the table in plain view. The cops were friendly, we were friendly, they politely suggested we may want to make those disappear in the future before we answered the door. Another time we were stopped in a friends Bug and when the state trooper came up to the car and got the license and registration he suggested that the driver might want to push what was under his feet back under the seat before he "saw" it. It turned out that when we stopped the guys ounce had rolled out from it's hiding place and was laying under the drivers feet. Different world, different times.
 
Weed is easy to quit if you have will power. There is no chemcial addiction. You don't get sick if you quit it in a cold turkey type of manner.

Also, he sounds like the type of person that just does it on the weekend as a casual user. Not an every day user. There are two distinctive types. Everyday user and the type that does it after a night of drinking.
