Keep the glasses in the freezer, and play quick. And use something stronger than beer; whoever loses the first few pieces will be accordingly penalized.

there's nothing that says you can't make a classy metal one and hook a peltier device up to it ;)

Even so at the delta required to overcome losses to the surroundings the board would be well below the frost point. People would be quite itchy in a -90C dewpoint environment! :D

Now if the glasses were Dewars the contents would stay cold much longer. ;)

there's gotta be some way to minimize losses to the air while allowing conduction to a glass on top :hmm:

We did this in university, but did it with checkers and with half shots of vodka. If a piece was jumped you had to take the shot before taking it off the board. If you got a King, the other guy had to take a full shot. If your King was jumped, you had to take a full shot before taking it off the board.

If the game becomes slightly lopsided, it becomes VERY lopsided VERY quickly. The loser ends up drinking like 10-12 ounces of vodka pretty quickly.
