I've used credit at strip clubs a couple times before. Never once got ripped off. Though it's a nice and respectable club and I'm friends with a couple of the girls there so they would never let me get ripped off.

What I don't get, is who actually benefits from ripping of customers like this? Unless they fiddle the bill later and only charge 1 drink in the computer and count the rest as a tip?

It depends on the laws of the state.
Some places allow a girl to get buck naked and hump your leg.
Others are bikini bars, and if a girl goes topless she'll have pasties.
Also, if theres a gang of hardcore christian fundementalists in the area they will probably override the state law in favor of something much more oppressive.

These days it seems better to just get porn on the web for free.

Topless clubs can sell alcohol.

Full nude cannot.

Should have went to the Colorado Club on 59 or The Men's Club on Westheimer (saw Robert Horry there once).

We need to have a Houston GTG - just not at a strip club, heh. OP, you made the mistake of even going to a strip club in Houston that's not a major player ... surprised the name wasn't Joys Cabaret.

Everybody has suggestions on what to do, but to be honest, you are pretty much just screwed. I personally would just live and learn as it's not worth $41 for the hassle, plus you probably won't win anything anyway.

The one thing I've learned is that I never, ever, open a tab at a bar or club. It's dangerous b/c you don't know what you are spending on yourself...or if you have no selfcontrol you order too much. Plus you get screwed if they try to tack on extra drinks or something sneaks drinks on your bill.

Strip clubs in general just aren't that fun anymore...I'm 31.

You are pretty much screwed out of the money. you could call the cops and say several of the dancers solicited you. Probably wouldn't do anything, but might cause some hell for the club.

I would tell that to your local news station's investigatory journalist.

Again, that depends on the state laws and city ordinances and such. Its not the same all over.
I know thats the law in Florida and some other states. But I've been to some places that are full nude, touchy feely and hard liquor all in one.

I've been to literally 100's of SC's and the only time I was ever ripped off was when I was in college in Paris where they apparently like to roll americans :)

I use to always open up tabs at bars and clubs. It'd be a shit show at the end of the night so I wouldn't be able to add correctly or remember to ask for an itemized receipt so that I could reconcile the next morning. I'm sure there were lots of errors I missed.

Nowadays though I usually just pay cash or pay for a round of drinks with a CC and close it up. I don't drink as heavily at bars and clubs as I use to, and the times that I've had open tabs in the past year I usually find that either they undercharged me or charged me for drinks I didn't get at which point I raise the issue. A few weeks ago in fact I was at some upscale bar here where drinks are about $10-15 a pop and I'd probably ordered myself and some of my friends about 7-8 drinks. I was expecting an $80 tab, but when it came it was $35. It made me wonder who got the bulk of what I drank on their tab and how many times I've been the person buying some other person's alcohol.

This strip club issue would have really pissed me off. With so few people there, it's hard to believe they messed up your tab on accident. And the fact that the bartender proceeded to lie about the issue after you thought you'd cleared it up. 2 beers for about $50 is ridiculous no matter how you look at it. I don't think I've ever paid more than $10 for a beer anywhere.

This reminds me about what one of my buddies did. He was over in Denmark and went to a strip club. Ended up talking to this guy who's a movie director in the states. The movie director had a bunch of fine ass strippers around him, and ordered everyone (including my buddy) a round of Cristal. Well, they finished the round, and my buddy ordered the next round of Cristal along with a bunch of other drinks. At the end of the night, he was hammered and got his tab. He saw the number, 3,000, and signed off on it, thinking it was in Denmark's currency, the Krone. (3,000 Krones is about 500 USD). Next morning, he woke up and checked the receipt again, it was actually 3,000 USD he paid on that tab. Needless to say, always check that tab...

Good, should happen to all Texans.

Ahh, seems you are confused by a bit of McOwen Math... See, for Dave, Texan = Republican and well, I think you know where the equation goes from there.

Oh and as for my story, maybe I'll tell it later (or maybe I'll Syringer you ;)).

In which case it becomes a whole lot of "words" against mine and my friends. No cop in that situation can do anything other than take statements from parties involved and give the advice that we should try to solve our disputes in a civil manner.

Good thing the cops have that handy-dandy machine that can give you a rough estimate of how many drinks you've had...

If you hate strip clubs so much, why did you go? I've never been to a strip club in my life, and I don't plan to.

Was Dave watching TV on election night? Apparently not.

Yah, if you read further when someone else brought that point up, I explained why. It doesn't matter how many I DRANK, but what I ordered. A breathalyzer can prove I didn't drink anything, but doesn't mean I didn't buy drinks for say a dancer, or the waitress, or my friend, or some random person. Hence, my word of what I bought versus the word of the establishment. Get the picture?

As for why I went, it wasn't really for the club. I just went because I was already having a good time being OUT, since I haven't done much in weeks. The other guys were way more interested in going to the club then I was, or so it seemed at Hooters. I didn't care where I went, just didn't want to go home yet.

I read the cliffs.

I would of only paid for 2, called card company, told them they are stealing money off the card, and then I would of called the cops to come to the door as I left so I wouldn't get my head knocked in by the bouncers.
