Warning! If you do get "the email", call Gateway Customer Service if you still want to receive the X800 XT.

If you receive the email asking you if you want to receive the alternate X800 Pro instead, that means that they have put a "change or cancellation" hold on your order. If you do not call them (or do not opt for the alternate card), they WILL cancel your order. If you are still willing to wait, call them and tell them that you do not want to cancel AND you do not want to order the alternate.

They took the hold off of my order, but told me that they have no idea when the XT will ship. However, the sales rep assured me that when the card is available I will be receiving one. Good enough, I suppose. I've been waiting this long, I'm not about to give up now (order placed 6/3).

Maybe I should temper my enthusiasm.

My online order status went from "unavailable" - the reason I called earlier - to Sept 18th.

To date, my order on 6/30 has gone from 7/29 to 8/18 to 9/18. I guess I'll be calling Gateway on Monday.

:disgust::confused:

I just got "the email". Spoke to Leslie(204). She said ATI just sent a note dated today that they would never be getting these in. I just asked her to not cancel my order and make sure to note the account that I didn't want to cancel.

LOL, Oh this would be sooo Funny were it not so EVIL

After reading the recent posts, some talking about cancellations, others saying they'd been told they'd ship soon, I thought I'd check my order status. (I haven't been doing that for awhile, as it making me unduly insane :) )

So, the last time I checked, my order had gone from "Your expected arrival date is 8/13" to "not Available" Well, Tonight, it says " Your order will arrive on 8/13/04" If you wish to further track this order, call 1-800-MAD-COWS", or something like that anyway

They're not even expecting it anymore, it's a sure thing.

I've gotta give props to a company with such intelligent staff, and smooth stock software ;)

Well I just got the email asking me to take the X800 Pro for 349. Lame, I guess I will have to call them. :( Maybe I will just order the x800 Pro from Dell LOL.

Looks like a lot of us were at the end of June... I got "the e-mail" tonight, even after I had called this afternoon.

I honestly never expected to receive the card any time soon or even at all, but I do plan to hang on to the order just for the amusement value. :)

???? Bhahahaha, you are one dillusional guy, when will you come down to reality and realize it's not available until further notice, and even if it does become available sometime in the distant future, gateway will never be a reliable source for information about availability.
When it becomes genrally available from ati (if ever), then "deals" like this will be common from many retailers, so there really is no point in keeping this order open. Unless your philosophy is "it arrives when it arrives" which is really a strange way to buy cutting edge technology products...

After all the false hope that Kathy (1257) Gave me, and can be viewed in my previous posts, I received a phone call from the "Supervisor" of CSR at Gateway apologizing for the FALSE statements that were entered into my order by Kathy. And that due to inability to receive product from ATI all orders are cancelled and that they are no longer carrying the XT800PE. Blah Blah Blah...sorry sorry sorry..... Yes he was very apologetic and nice even offered free overnight with no shipping charge for the X800 to "make up for it" but I declined and said thank you, good bye.

Oh well I never really thought I would get it but there was that slight hope...... :(

I'm glad I cancelled a while back. It's like quitting before getting fired. ;)

Seriously though, it sucks this deal didn't go through, especially for those who patiently waited it out.

Don't know if anyone is interested but I picked up a PNY 6800GT with a free copy of Doom3 for $399 at CompUSA. It's not an X800XT for ~$400-ish but it's a decent option.

Oh really ? you didn't believe you'll get it huh ? so what did you mean by "she said the ordered was highlighted in yellow and that it mentioned that it was shipping out from the warehouse. Sooo it looks as though the 8/25 date will be true after all" ????

I think you were a clueless optimist that did believe ridiculous promises, long after other people in this forum already woke up and realized the truth. In the future you could try to learn from other peoples experience and not waste 2 months and keep this thread alive for that long with no reason.

Seriously, what's the point of posting something like that? You sir, are just silly. Personal attacks? This is something that was kept alive because so many people got burned by it, and because this is the forum where you post this sort of thing!

Jeez man, chill out.

Yeah I actually found this thread quite amusing all along; the constant Gateway-bashing and reducing of their ResellerRating to 1.04 really put a smile on my face. I got burned as well and I was lucky that cancelling my order with Gateway early one turned out to be the right move. On the other hand, it could've turned out the other way and many people could've walked away with X800XT PE for <$440 shipped; then they'd have been the real winners...

I don't see how keeping a thread alive for a long time does any harm, anyway!

-Ed

EDIT: PS One thing that I've seen from people on the Anandforums (not directly attacking anyone) is that there are always a couple people with extremely negative outlooks and randomly attack others harshly for hardly anything if not nothing at all. You just have to learn to shrug it off; it it bothers therm so much that an old thread is kept alive, then maybe they should just ignore, move on to other threads that matter more to them and get on with their lives...

no harm in keeping this thread alive . . . actually it serves as a WARNING to would-be Gateway "suckers". ;)

Hi all,

Not sure what to make of this info but I thought I would add it here just in case its useful to someone. I got in on the x800 XT deal at $434 with 10% off on 7/1 and have been getting the pushed back delivery dates since then like everyone else. Last week I got 'The Email' offering the x800 pro and saying I needed to contact them. So I called them today and asked for a status on the order - explaining that I'd ordered almost 2 months ago and had gotten the email about problems with inventory. Then she tells me that the item shipped today! I'm still skeptical but I made her say it like 4 times....she insists that the item has shipped.

Maybe they received only a few and shipped out what they were able to?

Check your online order status to see if it updated as well. After I got the replacement email, my online order status changed from a shipping date to please contact support.

Dear Customer,

Gateway has been informed by ATI, who manufactures the video card you ordered, that they are unable to fulfill this order. We are therefore forced to cancel all backorders held for this item. We apologize for any inconvenience this will cause. If you have any questions, please feel free to call Customer Service at 1-800-846-2000.

Thank you and have a nice day

Thank you,
Joe Crites

******

I ordered mine on June 3rd. Apparently that wasn't soon enough. If I hear about anyone receiving a Radeon X800 XT PE from Gateway, I'm raising bloody hell. Almost 3 months. They had better not be lying to me.

I agree it's hilarius how people continue to be blinded by futile hope, even when presented with facts like official emails specifically saying that the product is not avaiable and IS NOT GOING TO BE SHIPPED EVER !!!

quote of the day: "Maybe they received only a few and shipped out what they were able to?"

just my $0.02

Funny That, as I got a identical E-mail, I now hate a guy named Joe Crites.

Anyway, GW doesn't want to honor their prices. Fine. The dell deal is only gonna be 20USD more, and I'm sure they'll not back down now. Err, pretty sure.... mostly sure.... Hoping they don't :)

Everyone is prolly got their own 20min tirade, so I'll save you all from mine. I will simply say that it would have been nice if GW would have given us this fictional excuse months ago GRRRR

Why don't you stop being so negative? Why do you care enough to be such an arrogant prick?
