I watched based on comments here (love this thread) and it was pretty funny. I think they spent a little too much time on the training but it was still funny. I definitely see kids loving the movie.

jurassic world - 4/10 - expected more out of this movie but it was basically the first one rehashed with shittier effects and characters that i didn't give a shit about. it just baffles me that special effects in this movie were far worse than the original that came out 20+ years ago. not every part, but there was so much bad cgi in this movie. the majority of the scenes you could tell were the actors with a bluescreen in the background too. just poorly done with a forgettable script.

it was still better than terminator genesys though.

Heroes Reborn - 6/10

Not bad, so far. Not great, though. They're relying on not quite ending short plotlines each episode, more than anything else, to maintain interest, thus far. The worst part, though, is almost like watching a new Joss Whedon series on Fox...when is it going to take that cliff dive? But, at the same time, I want to watch it when it does!

Knightriders - 8.5/10

This is how you do an artsy movie. It works, right down to close-ups on Ed Harris' thinning hair. Tom Savini will never be remembered as a great actor, but this was by far the best performance I've seen out of him. OTOH, its lack of polish really hurts it, especially towards the end. About the last 15 minutes or so would have been benefited by early screeners criticizing it, and then some re-editing being done with that in mind (often, the director has it right, but not always, you know?).

The Man In The High Castle S1E1-3 - 9/10?

Three is all I've had time for. Loving it, thus far. By some luck, I have managed to not have read what it's based on, and now won't until either the show gets to sucking, or ends :).

Turkey Hollow - 6.5/10

I have a soft spot for Hensen puppet shenanigans, OK? So hokey, so many plot holes, so many scenarios easily solvable without the puppet characters...but, in the end, a pretty decent family movie. I also wonder if one of the last lines was a direct reference to Family Guy.

Now back to jonesing for more Tatiana Maslany...

Is that the transsexual porn parody of Tatiana Maslany? Good choice.
 It fails spell-check either way, so I guess I didn't pay enough attention. It's the MX Reds, I tell ya. Rest a fingertip, and it gets typed (looking at it, now, one finger is over the n during all but the ending y).

But, seriously, pulling off Orphan Black is impressive, and I need more. Alison is the best.

Helena is my favorite. I hope it only goes on for one more season, 2 at the most. It's starting to get a little to grand in scope for my taste.

Avengers Age of Ultron 7.5/10

It wasn't as good as the original, but what sequel is?

One thing I came away with, is that every director that did Hulk stories were inept children with no clue.

I could care less about Ultron, the pacifist copy of him, the arrow guy's home life, or about countless eastern-European lives.

What stuck out was the Hulk. If you had that power, but couldn't control it? That is a story. I'd rather watch his trials over countless iterations of the 'worlds end' by CG augmented antagonists.

Iron Man used to be nearly indestructible, until in 3 they made them all feeble. The one character they never made feeble is the Hulk, and it's a shame he is a secondary character. Stark is old, boring news. It would be cool to be that inventor, but take those millions and and apply them to the Hulk, and you'd have a better story by far imo.

Somehow it is one of those books I had never read in the past myself, so I couldn't say how it compared to the book.

The show actually kept getting better IMHO. I doubt you will stop.

Orphan Black I really haven't kept up with, might catch up on some again soon, had watched several in the past.

Mr Selfridge, another Amazon Prime freebie series.

8.2/10 myself, I started watching it for grins & giggles and became hooked myself, but I'm a Downton Abbey fan also. ITV makes them both.

It's way more interesting than the description sounds.

It is a very well made period drama, if you're into that type of thing.

Yeah, Selfridge is pretty good. It's a little saccharine at times but over all a decent show. Definitely on the same level as Downton although the acting in Downton I think is better.

Creed - 9.5/10. I'm a massive Rocky fan and this one lived up to the positive reviews in a big way for me. Strongly recommend for anyone that is a fan of the franchise. If you're not a fan, I imagine it's probably still a pretty good movie but I have rose coloured glasses on.

EDIT: I thought it was funny that on opening night of a critically well reviewed movie in a historic franchise that in our small-town theatre there were 7 people there.

No Escape - 9/10 - wow this movie was a fucking shocker. i am by no means an owen wilson fan and actually usually don't like him in movies, but he did an awesome job in this movie and is one of the few times he wasn't in a comedy. he killed it though and holy shit, this is one of the most intense movies i have ever seen. and it starts almost immediately and doesn't let up until literally the very end of the movie. i kind of expected this to be a 90 minute popcorn flick with nothing to it but damn i really really liked it.

Ppl r dum

Good movies are a great way to spend time with family, and this is one of the biggest days for movies. They're probably watching the latest schlocky special effects film.

I'm not an Owen Wilson fan myself, but sounds too good to pass up.

Have to check it out.

:thumbsup::thumbsup:

*Edit* I'll give it a 7.4/10 myself, there is a lot of action.

I agree with you, just to put my two cents in on this one, hadn't watched Ultron myself till about a week ago.

Was nice to see the Hulk used right in these movies for a change, he's probably never going to be very interesting solo, though.

But as more or less the Luca Brasi of the Avengers it's always amusing.

Continuum- 7/10 - overall I liked the show. Every season had a reset button to set up then next year. I liked that the last season came back to finish the story, but it was a predictable ending. We are talking about time travel here. I just did not like the character the time traveler. One part to play and that was take Alec to met Old Alec so the time travel ball is created.

Totally agreed. He did a great job and the movie is pretty thrilling actually. I liked it a lot.
