I pay $350 a month now and cannot afford to go to the doctor since the insurance covers nothing.

You tell me, will the Messiah's version be better?

I'd like to at least give it a try.
 
While Pres. Obama "stopped short of endorsing the threat of jail time" we all know that any punishment for not having health insurance such as fines or any other penalty will have to be backed by jail time and threats by Government agents with guns. There is no other way to enforce an action without those threats being present.

If you're paying $350 a month now and your insurance "covers nothing" then why the hell are you paying for it ? With that $350 a month you can afford the doctor visit.

As has been mentioned in previous threads, no it won't. The IRS does not pursue tax liabilities in the amounts we are talking with jail time.
 
Without a doubt the most dispicable portion of the legislation those idiots are proposing under the guise of health care reform. The nation was founded by those deeking self representation and tax reform, and these idiots want to add a "you're an american" tax.

The vast, vast majority of them are. Studies have been done many times that show illegal immigrants (and really immigrants in general) exert a fairly minor influence on our system as a whole.

I did refute what you said, you were trying to draw a distinction where one does not exist. America is America, not 'Rich America' and 'Poor America'. The fact that other countries understand this fact better than we do is one of the reasons why their health care systems are so superior. Food for thought!

So you honestly believe that this country could provide free healthcare to every resident, (not that this is on the table) with a population of 303,000,000?

In a country where the bottom income brackets pay no federal tax outside of SS and Medicare?

And where those same people are more likely to need healthcare due to lifestyle choices? (Smoking, poor diet, lack of exercise)

There is no room for being PC in a major debate.

Free health care what? What health care is ever free? Of course there would have to be health care taxes, but as I've said many times everyone in America, rich, poor, whatever already pays truckloads of health care taxes levied on us by businesses when we buy their goods. You are confusing a whole load of different issues and somehow coming out the other end with 'free health care!'. Look at Germany and you've got a good blueprint.

There was a study done recently that indicates that fat, sedentary smokers cost less to treat over a lifetime than track stars because they tend to die of heart attacks when they are 50-60 instead of racking up large numbers of costly chronic conditions in their super fitness extended lives.

I'm not sure what political correctness has to do with this so I guess I'll ignore that.

You said earlier you are paying $300/mo for insurance. Do you mean car insurance? Because if you pay for health ins, and a routine visit with prescription renewal is $900, I call bullshit. Hell, you can get a doc appt with prescription renewal without insurance for less than $300.

So what? The US is a capitalist society, and that is why our shit is the best. Without an incentive (profit) to be the best, it won't be.

Also, who is going to provide all this care? Been to the MD lately? There is already a shortage of family practitioners. UHC will create a VAST shortage of them, and ZERO incentive to become one.

Altruists fail at recognizing the logistics of the system they propose. This says nothing about the insane bureaucracy this kind of bill will create.

Socialism simply does not work. History shows this over and over.

No, car insurance is a lot less at $100 month.

I've always stated anyone can come on by and look at the bills themselves.
