No, it isnt nuts.
Theres 325 million people in this country and ALL of us are getting that vaccine for the first time.
Well, you can get vaccinated virtually but the effectiveness is zero. I have never liked watching people get injected, and I still cringe seeing it on TV, I must have seen more than 100 of these in recent days/weeks/months. To get immunity you have to be vaccinated IN PERSON. It's the closest I will be to another human being since March. We'll both be masked up. My doctor wanted me to give a blood sample and get a flu shot and I said "no dice."

Does anybody have any handle on the latency period of covid-19? IOW, if someone is exposed to the virus, how soon might that person be infectious?

I thought that varied on factors like viral dose, personal genes, personal health, etc....but could take up to 5 days to test positive at least

Still, the latency period remains a big question mark based on what I have been able to find. I haven't even seen a guess.

My S.O. is in the medical field, so got the vaccine a week ago. I am having serious vaccine envy, considering I'm probably 3-4 months+ away from getting it. I know it's wrong to feel that way, trying to get over it. Anyone else in a similar situation?

Attack it with a sense of humor. Envy sucks. 🙂

One of the guys at work was telling me his GF asked about getting the vaccination, she's a teacher & apparently they have to sign up for it ahead of time. She was unsure.
If the some of the people that it's being offered to don't want it then they need a way to get the next level of people that do want it as quickly as they can.

agreed!😒

Couple questions:

1. After you're vaccinated (i.e. 2 injections plus 2 weeks for full effect), you have some immunity. There's a fair chance that at some future time you'll be exposed to some strain of the virus. I presume it's unlikely that you'll have symptoms from that exposure. They say they don't know if you'll be infectious nonetheless.

My question is, will this exposure intensify your immunity? I'd think that quite possible, i.e. that your body in launching it's immune response will create antibodies that make you more immune than you were before exposure. Now, I know that the body's immune response isn't as simple as one would likely suppose. There are various mechanisms.

2. Will there be any way of knowing that you were exposed post-vaccination?

2nd lockdown starting today in all of Ontario. It's only suppose to be 2 weeks, but I have a feeling it could be longer. The south is getting like 4 weeks as that's where most of the cases are.

You can still be tested. I believe one of the ongoing trials is testing people weekly.

Doc in Boston has an allergic reaction to the Moderna vaccine. He used his personal epipen (says he had a known shellfish allergy) and after a short stay in the ER was released.

This is embarrassing slow. If the vaccinations can't keep up with vaccine delivery, more phases should be opened up. 7M shipped doses needs to be turned into 7M vaccinations before the next lot of 7M doses is shipped.

At this rate we'll all be vaccinated around 2026.

I get that there are some growing pains, but we give out around 150M flu shots in a 3 month period every year. You'd think we could figure this out.
That 7 million can only vaccinate 3.5 million. Technically, it will be the first dose for 7 million people who will also need another 7 million doses that have yet to be produced or are still in production. Thankfully, the first dose grants some benefits even if it doesn't provide total immunity for everyone.

Or the official numbers are way off, which is probably pretty likely.

CDC vaccination tracker for doses administered is lagging, likely by a whole lot. Perna admitted the figures could be incomplete and as much as 96 hours behind.

With one update this morning it just went from a little over 1M to almost 2M.

Japan will ban all foreign nationals/visitors for a month or so. Its citizens and residents will have to follow 2 weeks quarantine. Next year Olympic ...hopefully the vaccines would help.

I'm curious why you would use quotes around words that are used in the article. In clearly states the doses were received thawed, and that the doses were unexpected.

The article / statement is that they take responsibility for the confusion, but doesnt state why the confusion took place. I am curious where the break down was.

Edit: also, the health org said they used it all, so vaccinations given did keep up with vaccines received so far (at least the 250 they specifically used), but they don't give more info where the other 350 doses went)

What? No "you are so stupid/moron..because I said so"...and <insert more juvenile insults here>" from you today? You expect me to debate and treat you like a normal human being? LOL.

I better go and watch tv with my mom now since you said so, therefore, it must be true, right? 🙄

In other news, Korea's number of infections is still up high, the government is considering whether to raise the alert level to a higher level. Tokyo's cases (not counting the whole Japan) are at the highest level, almost 1,000. UK flights are banned from Philippines until mid January and it has new infections of over 1,400. Malaysia has 2,335 new cases as of Saturday. More countries in EU are trying the new vaccines.

First hand experience from Taiwan which has new case(s) for the first time in 250 days.

Second doses are being held at the warehouses. No first doses are being sent out that don't already have second doses made. This is why Pfizer had "2.9M doses sitting the warehouse with no address."

So the 7M doses sent in the week, should be 7M vaccination within the week, before the next batch gets sent out.

Haha, you're such an idiot, and never miss an opportunity to prove it.

Your link has nothing to do with what your dumb post was and what I said.

Good job. Maybe you should look up what quotations are used for.

Edit: the funniest part is that started calling you an idiot when you gloat posted about another country posting a fraction of the cases our country posts in a day. I mean, that's such an idiotic thing to gloat over, I felt I should point that's what an idiot would do. Instead of self reflection, you chose to continue being an idiot.

It seems as tho now you crave it, like it feeds some weird need you have. I asked you some questions, and you inatead posted another idiot post

I am jacks lack of surprise.

Right on schedule. Name calling/insult from you.

Let me try it again so maybe you can get it (but I doubt it). Stop follow me and beg to participate, bryjone get it so all he can do now is making snide remarks from far away so you can do the same. You need to go back to P&N and join your buddies over there and throw out insults and name callings and craving about other guys private body parts and a** sex.

BTW, you're =! yours and inatead =! instead. You were saying something about stupid? Get lost. Beat it.

Lol, I'll post where I want, deal with it.

I asked you simple questions, no name calling, and you basically are acting like a cry baby.

You don't get to ask me anything with your nasty behavior.. Again, Stop. Follow. Me.And.Beg.

Have some self respect and dignity. Good grief. Get Lost. Beat It.

Sorry about some house cleaning folks.

Let get back to regular programming schedule. Experts are saying the 72 hour testing requirements of UK travelers are not very effective, need to do same day testing, and a bunch of delivery truck drivers are stuck at the borders because of the new restriction.

CDC testing requirements for UK travelers are like 'a chain link fence to keep out a mosquito,' experts say - CNN

Oh, I do get to post here. If you don't like it, dont respond.

Here's what you consider a "nasty" post
