The funny thing is that there are plenty of job openings available in my area, but they aren't the kind of jobs that many people would want to work. It's all jobs like grocery store workers, line cooks, or mechanic help.
Now that the expanded unemployment benefits are getting cut, people aren't going to get to be as fussy anymore.
Don't forget that sometimes those jobs, rather often in fact, pay less than most laid off workers made in their chosen line of work (and especially less than the healthy benefits that lapsed). It shouldn't be hard to understand why the unemployed aren't interested in working what may be a "demeaning" job for them all the while also bringing in far less income. Likely it isn't going to be sufficient for most people and won't pay the bills.
