^ If there's not enough incentive to stay indoors and keep away from people, reading the stories about those having to sit overnight in a car while feeling ill just to get tested should do it.

A look at Covid-19 testing in New Jersey:
Not sure how they can claim that the backlog is getting worse. Looks like we're expanding our testing criteria to take on more people:

Edit:
Antibody test is here in Atlanta...

42,500 / 8.4 million represents 1 in 200. That's 5% which 'seems' high but this is for a dense capita condition. Conversely, the greater Atlanta metro population is 5.6 million and if we assume everyone of those 2518 cases is in this region that is only 1 in 2200. I think NYC issue was mass transit. Atlanta doesn't really have a full-on mass transit system. MARTA is a joke and a product of real estate developers, not transportation authorities. Atlantians spend a good bit of time in transit in their own personal vehicles and the only time in-contact with others is either at our points of origin or destination and not the 15-20 hours a week we spend in our cars for work. If I spent 15-20 hours/week in crowded mass transit system I bet I would catch COVID19 10 times easier.

You are making a bad comparison: you should compare the current number of COVID-19 hospitalized patients in NY with the average number of hospitalized patients per day in NY before COVID-19. Do you have access to the average number of hospitalized patients per day in NY before COVID-19?

For example: if on average there are 300K hospitalized people per day in NY, then 42.5K more is a 14.17% increase, which is not a small number but, if on average there are 150K hospitalized people per day in NY, then that's and increase of 28.33%, which is VERY significant.

Friend of mine in Toronto more or less saying they easily doubled their police force cause now they are enforcing the $1,000 fine there too for not being 2 meters apart. Maybe other big cities but she can't confirm.

Hahahaha that makes me fucking laugh a ton.

Let me just say this... as someone that has traveled to MANY places across the globe... The concept of "How close you are" to other strangers is very much cultural. In America, were actually pretty far apart generally... In other countries, being up-close and near eachother is completely normal. You can tell by how much you get the general feeling of "The person behind me wants to butt-rape" me kind of feeling. In reality - it isn't them trying to violate you - it's just the way they perceive to be a comfortable distance.

also with America it can kinda be a mixed bag - because people will immigrate here and not conform to our general standards.

Our version of the ACLU has been putting the police on notice about using the appropriate charge in this crisis. Many police have been laying the charge based on provincial law except there is no provincial law for this. The law is Federal and the charge must be under that law otherwise it will be tossed out in court.

We also have not declared the Emergencies Act (formally the War Measures Act) so the police don't have carte blanche to do whatever they want. All laws that are in effect must follow our Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

Definitely eye-opening, I had no idea Black Friday had arrived at a Covid-19 test site.

Because New Jersey is not Georgia? Did you read the NYT article, or do you just question anyone who critiques any aspects of Covid-19 testing in the U.S.? FWIW, despite the subhead, the article isn't about judging the quality of the testing regime in New Jersey. My reading of it is that the need in NYC metro is extremely high (as we all know), and testing rate and turnaround time are gated by Quest Diagnostics capacities. Quest is going to pretty extreme measures to do the best that they can. Half of all tests in New Jersey come back positive. :astonished:

Even your news report from Georgia suggests that your state is expanding not from a position of strength, but from a lower bar.

S. Korea government is saying there are many cases of recovered people that were cleared but test positive for the virus again. Damn.

It didn't say why they were retested. Were they asymptomatic the 1st time? Or had symptoms & recovered? Symptoms the 2nd time & or not and were retested anyway?

Man, hope it was test error.

very untrue, ive been to TONS of countries and no bumps into you accident or gets to close with the exception of a subway car where it cant be avoided. i guess im more paranoid then most about pickpockets and thief's and dont allow people to crowd me, if anyone seems as if they are going to get close i will step aside and let them go by.

Good video on bio-ethics, aside from the article:

They're using a points system for what's best for society. Lower points if you are elderly, have cancer, COPD, diabetes, chronic lung disease, or a terminal illness. Scary stuff.

Also, at the end: "CNN has found 10 different government reports from 2003 to 2015 which all predicted that if we were to have a pandemic like this, we would run out of ventilators."

'MERICA!

Dude, it's bad seeing these stupid comedy shows without an audience - it REALLY helps illustrate for dumb people how unfunny those shows really are....

But WWE wresting is pretty much the same - watching it without an audience is probably funny from just how dumb it will look.

Well, my Unemployment claim from March seems to be stuck in limbo and I haven't received a dime since they furloughed me (neither state nor the additional Federal). Strangely, our Department of Labor here in Georgia says that they sent me a $0.00 paper check by mail for March 28th though I'm signed up for direct deposit. Didn't even get that so at least they knew better than to spend postage on a $0.00 check.

When I call the DoL office they assigned me to I get a message that "The number you have reached is not in service." Just a bunch of FAQs and such online with no way to submit any kind of inquiry online. I know they don't want me showing up at the DoL/Unemployment office but I may have to. This is getting ridiculous.

If your former employer doesn't response in a timely manner with your wage history, the unemployment office ends up setting your wage base to zero which sets your benefit to zero. Once your former employer provides the required data, the unemployment office recalculates your benefit based on your actual wage history. This might be what's going on. If so, the unemployment office should make you whole wrt benefits missed while your wage history was incorrerct.

My fiance is supposed to start getting those unemployment deposits this week at about 450 a week. She still has full benefits and works 1 day a week and I'm working way more than full time so we are doing ok, but I am curious as to whether California will actually be able to follow through on all these unemployment claims.
