Are civilian ak-47 a thing? I got a friend i live with who was a marksman with one back in Germany during 77-81 i believe? May be a year off but yeah i asked if he could use one today he is like sure, its like a bike you never forget. I believe him. I guess a marksman could be with anything if given it?
you can get a ak47 without a pistol grip? idk i have a ak74 from along time ago. dont think they are not legal to purchase but not sure. you should just buy a mini 14 if you want a rifle, .223 and has removable mags. I have a few AR15's but they have alot of restrictions and you cant purchase them anymore.

Yeah that's fine, i would love to fire a hand cannon but i know where i need to start with and its prob a 9mm. I would hope if i have one, simply seeing it would scare anyone off before i would have to use it. Not to confrontational so the idea of shooting someone is the last thing i really wanna do.

As I said. Should we listen to you or the FBI AND police/law enforcement agencies in the US AND around the world. Touch choice, eh?

LOL @ your statement of "a lot of FBI are women". Since when 20% of females as field agents = a lot?

BTW, I have links to support my assertion. And you have???? Uh huh.

The links from Washington Post in post 6831 is from 2018 and it reinforced my assertion. Keep digging deeper, dude.

You said this and I quote your own words ----- "9mm is a little girls bullet"

Don't make blanket opinion statements (without sources/links as back up) as facts. Just saying. I am out with this argument. Go on with your ignorant.

In other news, the virus could travel at least 13 ft and on shoes? Yike -

This is why "no shoes/sandals/footwear inside the house" policy is a good practice.

And the grass is NOT greener on the other side - (wow, $500K a year or more?)

On or around March 18, the nurses were recruited to the frontlines through a mass text that said all nurses or nurse practitioners who took the assignment would be provided PPE, paid $10,000 to $13,000 a week, given a stipend of $76 a day for meals, and be housed at the New Yorker Hotel.

This is worrying as well

Not sure what to make of this report - I don't really understand enough about viruses to know if this is unusual or particularly bad. Nor am I sure how much to trust this news source.

...oh, but it's not per-capita. How dare they make that claim on total numbers. Forget I said anything./S

It's literally just as fair to say that the US leads the world in daily PCR testing for COVID-19/SARS-CoV-2. Even if it's not number 1 per-capita, it's fair to say that the early missteps from the bad tests are in the past and there is very little left to be critical of (my original point).

That is all.

I wouldn't deny you have a point about that.

It's not particularly meaningful to talk about deaths in absolute numbers either. But that's the media for you. They like their milestones and dramatic-headlines, but it's actually a completely arbitrary kind of "milestone". If the EU were a single country it wouldn't be true at all. I think the justification, such as it is, is the implication that the US is getting rapidly worse, so this is a marker point on the way to a real disaster. Edit - in that respect it's not quite the same as testing figures, unless the suggestion is that the US is going to pass everyone else even in per-capita figures.

Now the UK, on the other hand, seems to genuinely be doing very badly, because our government is every bit as useless as the Trump administration. We will probably take the number two spot in absolute terms before very long.

Edit2 - the UK is probably already ahead of France in absolute terms, and has similar population, because France is counting care-home deaths and we aren't. Johnson's government seems quite shambolic to me. There seems to be very little foresight or planning at the national level in either the UK or the US, the only difference being the US at least has something going on at the state level.

Smithfield is shutting down US pork plant indefinitely because of COVID-19. Chinese bought Smithfield couple years ago and they pretty much supply all the pork to Costco. Could see some supply disruption at Costco although there's supposed to be over 600 millions pounds of pork in cold storage.

https://brownfieldagnews.com/news/pork-in-cold-storage-near-all-time-monthly-high/

But then again, there's also supposed to be near billion pounds of chicken in cold storage yet you see chicken shortage at Costco pretty regularly now.

Don't know about pork but chicken? Could be a shortage if this bird flu is not going away -

Wow, guess Costco will have to find another supplier. Not that it's a bad thing, didn't even realize Chinese pork was coming here, that's kind of scary. They don't exactly have good standards when it comes to that sort of thing.

No, Chinese bought Smithfield so they would have another reliable pork supply for China. Chinese eat crapload of pork and swine flu in China pretty much wiped out their domestic pig supply. Swine flu in China came from Africa. The pork sold in the US are US pork. Not China pork. China imports pork because they lack sufficient domestic supply. Chinese eat crazy amount of pork.

China cracking down on research papers regarding COVID19. Scientific research must now fit Communist Party narrative:

Origin of the virus

In late December, Wuhan reported the first cases of the coronavirus, linked by authorities to a seafood market in the city. Scientists in China and the West have said the virus is likely to have originated in bats and jumped to humans from an intermediate host -- just like its cousin that caused the SARS epidemic in 2002 and 2003.

However, parts of Chinese social media and even the country's government appear to have launched a concerted campaign to question the origin of the virus.

Chinese officials and state media have repeatedly stressed that there has been no conclusion on the exact origin of the virus. Last month, Zhao Lijian, a spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, promoted a conspiracy on Twitter that the virus had originated in the US and was brought to China by the US military.

In China, research papers on the coronavirus are already subjected to layers of vetting after they are submitted to Chinese academic journals, according to an editor at a Chinese medical journal.

Wang Lan, the editorial director of the Chinese Journal of Epidemiology, said all Covid-19 papers have to go through an approval process for "major topics" after being submitted to her journal.

Meh, this isn't really all that logically inconsistent insofar as media coverage.

W.r.t. to Covid-19 testing, to make the claim that the U.S. is "best" requires showing that its daily per capita testing ranks near the top countries in the world. AFAIK, the U.S. isn't quite there yet. Or objectively, if any country is doing all the testing that it needs to do in a highly efficient manner, it can also claim to be best (perhaps South Korea is an example of this case?).

W.r.t. to death toll, obviously total population matters to discern severity. If 20k drop dead in China, that's just a garden variety political purge (/s). If 20k drop dead in Iceland, that's like a black death.

Having said that, outside of wars or "natural" causes, how often do 20k people die in a modern, developed country in the span of a month? Yes there's seasonal flu with its similar annual death toll, but seasonal flu does not shut down economies for weeks at a time. If current projections are correct that the U.S. can limit deaths to about 60k by end of summer, in some circles that will be considered a modest success. That's still more than U.S. military fatalities for the entirety of the Vietnam War. POTUS will slap himself on the back for a job well done, but at least 50 thousand American families won't be in any mood to celebrate.
