It's an excellent opportunity to get inmates to volunteer for a sentence reduction or a trip to a halfway house . . . or something. But forcing it on them? Yeah, that's not a good idea at all.

Pretty much no. You don't get the cold or influenza from eating food that has been prepared normally during flu season. Believe it or not, proper hygiene is a major part of most food preparation. Restaurants that can't maintain proper hygiene are often caught and fined for spreading much more common foodborne illnesses. You would have to find someone literally drooling all over your food after preparation, which is not likely to happen. Then the majority of the virus would wind up in your gastrointestinal system which is not a major site for infection. It might get your throat on the way down or it might not.

That is very low risk situation.
you are HILARIOUS.. you have never worked in a restaurant before? never saw the videos of people scooping food off the floor? never sneezed while prepping food of your own? never seen someone go to the toilet and not wash their hands? its insane to say you can catch it from touching a surface then touching your mouth but then saying you catch catch it from food mishandled. If everywhere that mishandled food got shut down there would be NO PLACE TO EAT. im 100% sure of that.

Goodness. What the heck was the smell from the Lysol cleaning can that the secretary just used? It was not pleasant at all. Where is the pine/fresh lemon one?

This is why it's a good time to go on some kind of diet. Get rid of the crap food. Get down to basics. Rice, Oats, Chicken (if you can find it), coffee, peanut butter, frozen brocolli, few other basic items. Use those items only. You'll get fit, healtheir, etc.
I've got 5lb of coffee, I grind 2lb at a time in my blender (split the 2lb into 3 portions in the process of grinding).

I ate some oatmeal this AM. I have some chicken in the freezer, I hardly ever eat chicken these days. I have a couple packages of canned tuna. I have about 25lb of rice. Around 4lb peanut butter, a little fresh broccoli, cauliflower, celery, some apples and bananas that will go bad in 1/2 a week if I don't eat them.

Picked some purple tree collards from my yard today and made a stir fry with them. I have a gawdawful lot of that in the yard! Fabulous perennial, look it up.

I'm on lockdown since yesterday, mandated here except for important outdoor stuff. I'm getting aerobic by running up a flight of stairs 20x in a row, 3x/day. My heart rate monitor topped at 153 this morning. That's 9 beats/minute over my max, I should be dead.

Yeah, so, hit 153beats/minute this morning (9 beats/minute above my recommended maximum), took 7:00. Just did my 2nd (of my 3 sets today, one morning, one mid-day, the last before dinner). Hit 157beats/minute, took 6:05. That's 13 beats/minute above my maximum beats/minute for my age. I died.

Why are you grinding 2lb at once?
Though I suppose if you're grinding it in a blender, flavor isn't your primary goal...
Because the beans come in 2lb bags. I wind up with exactly 2 quarts very finely groung coffee, I refrigerate one, keep the other out for day to day use. I don't notice a loss in quality from fresh ground to the bottom of the 2nd container. I'm brewing in stove top stainless steel Italian espresso machine.

Still no official word as to if we'll work from home but Justin Trudeau made another announcement today about urging everyone who can, to work from home, and basically reinforced the social distancing. Will find out when I get to my shift tonight. They might actually have my PC already setup and tell me to packup and take it home. Corporate wise nothing has been mentioned about working from home though, all the talk is mostly my boss just making sure we are prepared. VPN, soft phone, etc. They still need to program the soft phones too, the PBX person is going to be busy as hell if they start sending people home!

You keep linking Osterholm videos. Get some breadth. Osterholm has a stake in this he's published books. Find some experts who have nothing material to gain by making themselves famous.

OK now that's funny. I don't really know anything about Osterholm and had no thoughts about Mai posting him constantly...but now that you say this, it all makes sense.

You should look at many of that dude's other posts on these forums. :D
