i feel bad for you, you never took vacation and are so old now. cant even enjoy life during the best years of it. sorry, even if i was in a bad job and poor i took vacations all over the place, been to at least a hundred different countries even nigeria which was scary at the time. SOrry for your hard life, i guess you did it to your self tho 2.5 years vacation never took ha.
No, guess I wasn't clear (I said 2.5 years worth of vacation time, not 2.5 years vacation time!) and you misunderstand me entirely. I worked there 2.5 years! Not 2.5 years vacation time! So, they owed me maybe 3-4 weeks vacation time, which I insisted they pay me for. And they did.

There's no reason I can't enjoy my life now. In fact, I'm perfectly healthy, basically. Thing with me is I didn't have steady jobs, didn't have a career until I was 50 or so. Just because I didn't have vacations didn't translate into hard life. There were some advantages to not being on a career path... I got to see a lot of different aspects of life, different work environments, especially when I worked the temps. It wasn't a terrible struggle because I know how to be frugal... and enjoy life in spite of not being extravagant like so many people are. Also, I had (and still have) a fulfilling vocation, a voluntary weekly gig, being a college radio DJ. Just because you've been to 100 countries doesn't mean shit. It doesn't make you smarter or wiser than me by any means. Maybe in some things but in the things that really matter, not necessarily at all.

On a side note there were two new questions when I crossed today: Have you traveled outside of the country recently ? AND: Are you feeling any illness related symptoms ?

Thankfully I am feeling great but I kind of laughed to myself afterwards thinking who is going to answer that question honestly if they're actually feeling ill ??? I'd much rather they stuck a thermometer up to my head and everybody else.

If you think that is funny, you will die of laughter over this one:

COVID19 spreads while hosts are still asymptomatic.

80% of us is not going to get adverse symptoms from this.

Besides test kits for having the actual disease at the same time we need tests for antibodies ... So the part of the population that is now immune AND is not infectious can get back to work!

lulululul who said i was smarter or wiser? i just enjoy traveling and seeing the world, now i enjoy taking my wife places since she has been no where before. she has been to at least 12 countries now after spending the first 24 years of her life in the same one with no dream to go anywhere. well if you travel when you are 70 and travel when you are 30 its a whole different world. radio DJ sounds like a nightmare to me but maybe it gives you some kinda high. ( i get my high's by a different way ((skydiving driving super fast that kinda thing)) )

and shit i thought you said you had 2.5 years of vacation you just never used hahaha :p i still feel bad that you never got to travel and still are not traveling, specially in the next 6 months with this virus. its super fun to go snorkling in the Philippines or tiger zoo's in thailand among other things. Crazy cheap vacations 500 for air fair, 50$ will get you a 5 star hotel with buffet breakfast. /shrug i guess we all make our choices in life, most people say the same as you, they have been to just mexico or a few states of the usa.

Never gave advice about anything, there's a big difference between casual conversation or personal opinion, and advice.

Not like I have control over how long my colds last for. Once you get it, any precautions you do are kinda too late, you need to let it run it's course. Even with all the right precautions you can still get sick.
thats the thing, not true at all! you can totally change the course of a sickness. People with cancer just die? nope they take drugs etc, if i feel that im about to get sick or any sort of feeling like it, i start taking ZINC every 2-4 hours for a few days, they taste like candy anyway so its fun and guess what i never get fully sick it goes away. If i do manage to not feel good at all i stop working out / exercising rest more nap more and get better way faster then if i push my body while trying to heal. its more crazy talk from you to say, and i watched your youtube video sure sounded like you are giving advice not just casual talk.. i enjoyed it i still am laughing thinking about it, "im just making this video to see if youtube sensors it, we should wash our hands alot, and umm go see things nearby instead of traveling far"

Cancer and such does have some treatment but I'm talking about cold/flu. As far as I know there is no known cure for most cold/flu type viruses unless there's some new development I'm not aware of. You just have to let it run it's course - at least that's what every doctor I've ever spoke to said. You can do certain things to make it more comfortable such as taking certain medications etc but there's no magic bullet to just make it stop dead in it's path. If it's bacterial then you can take antibiotics and those usually cure it.

People are taking my video WAY too seriously, it was just to see how the algorithm treats it and I literally said that in the video. But that said, considering this virus spread because of international travel it's not really wrong info. If people just stayed in their home countries it would not have gotten this out of control. And washing your hands is literally what health professionals are telling people to do.

Actually, I can beat snorkeling in the Philippines. I lived for 2.5 years on Maui, 1970-73. They called me "Diver Dan!" I was the one haole who got into the local skin diving scene, made my living at it. And dig, I didn't do it as a tourist, I did it as one of them. I took great pride in that. People hate tourists!

I have seen tigers at several zoos. So?

Cheap vacations, OK, I'll maybe do that. Really a 5 star hotel and cheap buffet breakfast, it's OK, but not the dream of a lifetime, mate. I've had that stuff, maybe not 5 star hotel, don't know, but I'm not gonna be impressed by gilded chandeliers and fancy furniture and paintings on the wall. My folks had a giant house, twice as big as everyone else's on twice the land of others in our rather well to do neighborhood. When you grow up with that, opulence doesn't impress you that much. My greatest experiences in life have been spiritual and artistic. I hope that doesn't change. I get a lot of that by being a DJ and playing great music for thousands to hear, locally via FM and around the world through streaming ... every week! I frequently get calls from people attesting to how much they appreciate what I'm doing, love what I'm playing. And I get to listen to my shows, both while I'm creating them on the fly and later when I listen to them with headphones.

People hate tourists. I got to engage in the local diving scene with the local kids, not as a tourist who forked over 40 bucks.

To be honest, i don't think i'd ever heard of taking zinc for colds/flu etc. Vitamin C, yes i've heard that before.

Yeah same, and I heard vitamin C is only to PREVENT it. If you already have it it won't really do anything at least that's what I've heard. Heck some people even say vitamins don't do anything at all and are just expensive pee. I take them anyway since it can't hurt. I tend to take vitamin D, C and Omega 3.

A week ago I bought some stuff with zinc, read the reviews:

Sambucol Black Elderberry... 30 count https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001ES8GGC/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Good State - Ionic Liquid Zinc Ultra Concentrate 1.6oz https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00D0VI0A8/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Zincam

Dr. James Robb, pathologist and coronavirus expert recommends zinc lozenges. He mentioned Cold-Eeze, but I couldn't find them. I think the Sambucol and Zincam might be equivalent. The liquid zinc concentrate idea I got from a review at Amazon that enthusiastically mentioned Medical Medium:

I quote Dr. James Robb from a post at my local Nextdoor listserve:

4) Stock up now with zinc lozenges. These lozenges have been proven to be effective in blocking coronavirus (and most other viruses) from multiplying in your throat and nasopharynx. Use as directed several times each day when you begin to feel ANY "cold-like" symptoms beginning. It is best to lie down and let the lozenge dissolve in the back of your throat and nasopharynx. Cold-Eeze lozenges is one brand available, but there are other brands available.

Also, make sure you aren't vitamin D deficient. People in high latitudes often are susceptible to respiratory infections because they don't get enough sunlight in the winter. Watched a great video about that the other day by a British doctor. Combat that with a supplement. I just bought a bottle of Vit D at Costco like 10 days ago, am taking one little capsule daily, 2000iu.

Those are the Sambucol tablets... not lozenges. The effect Dr. James Robb was suggesting zinc for kinda requires them in lozenge form. I bought the Sambucol Elderberry + Zinc lozenges at GNC but they were super expensive and I soon realized that they did not have nearly enough zinc. Supposedly you need to aim for 85mg a day but an entire $10 package of those is only 60mg (3mg per lozenge). I mentioned this earlier in the thread hoping others would learn from my mistake and avoid that brand. :(

Well, the people you were interacting with there are the people who profit from tourism. Those kids on Maui didn't.

Well, maybe those drops would work. I received them today, along with the Sambucol. Anyway, reviews at Amazon say Sambucol is really effective in warding off colds if taken early. Maybe not much help with covid-19, who knows?

I've had no luck finding Cold-Eeze, tried a bunch of places, in person and online. Zinc lozenges... just haven't been able to get my hands on any. I emailed my doctor yesterday asking if I could get them by Rx through him and he just replied that I should just use any old cough drop or lozenge. Duh. I wonder about him.

you said "people hate tourists" its just silly talk, everyone is someone who profits from tourism. from taxi to grocery to hotel to eateries. i dont give two shits about what those "kids in maui" liked. i hung out with TONS of girls and guys in maui when i went and they had no problem with someone from cali. like i said we all make our choices, no need to defend what you like to do thats great, just think more people should travel and see other places, of course red squirl thinks everyone should just stay in one spot. sounds lame, ill be in Thailand before the end of the year if all goes well. i guess you dont know what you are missing out on.

try finding what? zinc lozenges? pretty sure i got them from "vitamin shop" or something like that online, was just google search away actually bought WAY to much but planned on giving them away to people at work and i saw few days ago i had 4 bottles already /eye roll i kinda overdo things.

Depends who you hang out with. If you hang out with other tourists, they love you, sure. Maybe the cabbies, desk clerks, store owners. But you're a tourist. That's never sat right with me. I could, sure. I've done it and enjoyed it. I went to Martha's Vineyard a few years ago. New Orleans, too. I'm not just a stick in the mud. When this virus blows over, I can travel. I have a passport.

OK, so zinc... The stuff I bought at Amazon (see link above a few posts) is 15mg per 10 drops. That Medical Medium site with cold tips said let some go down your throat and bathe the area. Zinc lozenges have about 13mg zinc, so I figure take one of those homeopathic tablets with 3mg zinc, and around 7 drops of the zinc, would be equivalent zinc, i.e. about 13mg. Do that every 3 hours or so until symptoms subside.

Both the Sambucol and Zicam have the same directions, which sounds like a lozenge, but yeah, not as much zinc:

dissolve entire tablet in mouth. Do not chew. Do not swallow whole.

ok well you can do what ever weird shit you want with zinc but these are the ones i take and i take 2 (just chew them like candy) then keep taking them
(bought 12 bottles of it) and some other type too from the same vitamin shop online store

i do exactly as the label says, 1every 2 hours not to exceed 6 tablets in a day stop taking before 7 days of use (never use for more than 4 days anyway)

Yes they work, i dont have to gargle them or let them dissolve a special way (all that sounds so silly to me)

the people i hung out with in maui def not other tourists, you are so funny, you went there 40 years ago? 50 years ago? lululul marthas vinyard? you do sound like a stick in the mud, glad we dont hang out id be so mad!
