The funny thing is that you could easily do a film festival online using modern streaming services. It's the whole viral marketing and hype generation aspect of SXSW that would be hard to replicate.
 
i've been reading and it sounds like this virus can destroy people's lungs. the CT scans are terrifying.

and i've had some nasty chest pain and breathing problems for the past year

so if i get this, i think i'm as good as dead

Washing removes the virus by rinsing it off. Wipes and sanitizer don't rinse.....they have to inactivate the virus and it takes exposure time for death to occur. Neither method is 100%, but elimination of any virus is better than nothing.
 
Because of covid-19 fears..I've washed my hands so many times per day for the past couple weeks, the space between the base of fingers is starting to get quite dry and itchy. Think I'll wear some disposable latex or nitrile gloves for a day or two to hopefully let the skin regain some oils.

I get the TP, and even the paper towels, but bottled water? I guess you like the BPH and microplastics found in water in plastic bottles? I was in Sam's Club the other day and TP was gone. paper towels stock was low, but they had a mountain of bottled water.

Many people don't like drinking tap and don't want to get sick because they went out for a drink. Simple as that, really.

well if you have done any hand washing research it takes longer then 20 seconds. im a nurse so i kinda have experience and knowledge of how handwashing works, they say the friction works with out soap even but my point is covering your entire hand with good enough force in 20 seconds is a little fast as it always takes me longer and i also like to cut my nails to nothing and scrub cuticles.

More comedy videos will probably come out about it if you have the money to make one. Not to make light of this whole thing but someone will. Like the 6 foot radius in this thread. Have a video showing you or someone with a circle of bodyguards surrounding you as you're walking downtown keeping others away. Actor bodyguards not real ones, actors would cost much less.

LOL! Your knee-jerk reaction says a lot. You get sick by violating your self-imposed social isolation. Unnecessary exposure. It's the primary reason people are stocking up on anything.

DUH.

I said that many people don't like drinking tap water, which is 100% true and has nothing to do with getting sick from it. You CAN get sick from potential exposure by going out for supplies, so they stock up now.

DOUBLE DUH.

Put some ice on that knee and in the future don't ask the question if you aren't even going to read the answer.

True but he's right. Inferior/dangerous products, loss of our ability to support ourselves because we outsource everything. Read something that said that said that we get 90% of our drug components from overseas. Steel anyone?

Question for you. Ever heard it's a good idea to hold you hands still for 5 or 6 seconds after vigorous rubbing during washing but before the rinsing begins? I can't find anything on the net or any person that I've met that's heard of this. I read it in the pre internet days in a magazine in the late 70's.

The reasoning is it allows the soap film a better chance to surround and cling to the dirt particles. So the final rinsing will more easily wash the dirt and germs off.

Talked to doctors during my checkups and they never heard of it but they're all younger than me. Btw been washing my hands like you mentioned for years taking almost a minute including the lengthy rinsing. I'm not in the medical field, just drafting, graphic arts and some computer programming.

The closest any internet article came to this (edit: that I know of) was a casual phrase in a state's guidelines for washing hands, maybe it was Michigan or some state. It said after the dirt particles have had the time to be isolated by the soap film then rinsing can begin or more rubbing and then rinsing.

My feeling is they danced around the idea of holding your hands still for even 5 seconds. Can you imagine how much more water would be used by people all over the world if everyone did that for 5 or 6 seconds at every hand washing? And people would double it to 10 seconds or more to be thorough and water bills would go crazy.

edit: Anyway I've heard vigorous rubbing is fine as stated in official medical guidelines all over the US so maybe no need to hold the hands still. It's just a theory.
