I am more worry about the countries with high population counts and don't have the mean to test and report, like India, SA, SEA, ME and Africa. If the virus - for lack of better term - resist the heat it can be a big issue.

That'll be awesome if all goes to plan. It says it'll be ready for the public by early summer. Hopefully they can produce enough for everyone at a rapid pace.

EDIT: Early summer is 4 months away. Hopefully clinical trials go well, because the clock is ticking.

Recent spike from China is probably related to improved diagsnotic protocol. Give it a few days then you'll see a clearer picture.

Already surpassed SARS. That was yesterday's news.

That's one reason why I prefer the Coronavirus Study Group (CSG) and International Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses name, SARS-CoV-2.

Also, because China had the gall to arrest a doctor who correctly called it "SARS" when he tried to raise the alarm. No different than calling the latest pandemic flu strain "flu." Let's call a spade a spade.

i wonder how many people die a day with out a virus, omg they didnt take a dead body to the hospital first!! alert the news..

all the new cases are from symptoms instead of the actual test since alot of people cant go to the hospital since they are full etc.

Shouldn't be a problem. By early summer a lot more people will be dead and they'll need a lot less vaccine. There's always a silver lining if you look hard enough.

Not only that, but we've been hearing for weeks now about a preliminary vaccine that would still take a year before human trials even if they rush it. Clickbait headline, for sure.

China's numbers have been all over the place. Yesterday they rescinded like 1,000 cases for some reason, and they rescinded ~100 deaths because they "double counted" by accident or something. Nobody really knows what's going on in China, except that it's bad.

Singapore, Japan, and Hong Kong have been the only places outside of China reporting genuine outbreaks.

Singapore will be a good place to keep an eye on, I believe they are the second highest affected country and they are not hiding any numbers like China.

Vietnam as well.

With obvious sustained outbreaks in four other locations now and zero travel restrictions on three of them I don't see any way this isn't spreading unnoticed already. And that is a big part of the problem with this it isn't necessarily the severity it is the silent transmission and sheer persistence of the sickness that concerns me. Some of the new cases found today have had symptoms since mid January and are only found now because they are getting sicker. With the worst flu at least you get over it in a few days and generally don't require hospitalization. But this thing acts more like some kind of wasting disease, it will cripple anywhere that it spreads uncontrolled by overloading the healthcare system combined with panic from the general public.

Thailand is still second according to the WHO map unless you count those quarantined on the cruise ships (they show Japan as tied).

As you've said, I am sure it is spreading elsewhere quite rapidly. I'm just commenting on the confirmed reported cases.

Japan just reported a couple more cases, making their total 41 (not including the cruise ship). This puts them ahead of Thailand.
