Paradoxically Americans are allowed in. I guess it's about the integrated economy.

Yeah I didn't say it earlier - but I was thinking... there is no fucking way they will close the borders - just like we won't close them with Mexico or Canada. Trade is part of the ESSENTIAL KEY to recovering from this virus.

Speaking of trade and business. Per Gasbuddy.com, the cheapest gas right now around here is $1.59/gal of regular.

$0.99/gal soon?

I wonder how bailing out things like airlines will work as far as who is going to plop down the cash for it lol. These companies are certainly not national - and there is no particular country that is contributing to this more than others.

Airlines can still go bankrupt before the government bails them out. That's what happened with the autos. GM went bankrupt. The stock owners got wiped out but the bond and credit holders got bailed out and they got new stock in the new company. GM the company survived and provided jobs for their employees. Same thing can happen again with the airlines and cruise companies. Airline shareholders get wiped out but the companies themselves are saved. So I would be very careful about buying airline stocks thinking the government backing means anything for the stock. Stock holders are the last in line for anything in bankruptcy.

Now is the perfect time for walmart / amazon employees to go on strike if they are going to be the only businesses still open.

Lets get some riots going! :smilingimp:

You know, I do believe that might getting be a bit 'political'. Or do you mean nice non-political, off-topic riots? In which case, as you were.

In my mind, Amazon distribution centers are the ideal place to spread diseases with hundreds of tired/stressed folks crammed in an enclosed space.

If the Chinese would stop eating endangered animals out of jungles like pangolins & civets & monkeys & eating things not meant to be eaten this would have never started . They're considering a ban on eating dogs cats rats horses and donkeys right now. Why don't they eat each other there's certainly no endangered status on the citizens on the mainland of China. If this comment gets me banned good enough & cheers at least I got to say what's deep in my angry disgusted heart.

subtle racism isnt really a bannable offense, more likely you will be banned for being an alt account.

Laurie Garret predicts airports and trains to close within days. Her message is very jarring IMO. We are in for a world of hurt. This pandemic is going to be with us indefinitely.

First day of mass online classes and remote work was fraught with various bandwidth and capacity issues. Most were short lived though. Huge benefit of The Cloud being a thing: there is no way companies could have scaled as much as they have this quickly in the past

Well, her biggest fear is a Russian EMP wiping out the grid and leaving us in the dark ages for the foreseeable future. In her mind, we'll need non-electronic entertainment, hence the bongos instead of the Berettas.

It's starting: this post brought to you by cellular data since the home Internet is out. There are trucks from both cable companies down the street a little bit and I'm betting both crew leads are Russian sleeper agents. ;)
Dang, if my gigabit fiber goes out I'm stuck with TV... and radio. And if the electricity goes down, books.

I may have to get a small solar array so I can charge my cell phones when electricity cuts out.

She did NOT say "indefinitely." She said that things are going to be very choatic, confusing, difficult for 3-5 months. She didn't say it would taper at that point, she made no prognostications of that nature.

This is certainly worth your 6 minutes! Watch it!
