My dad quit when mom had me, yes, cliche, one of the few that actually did it. He said: " I just reoriented my perception of it; changing from relief to fellatio. Soon, the addiction came second to the aversion of a cock in my face."

I LIKE the way that man thinks!

I need to try again soon. Failure comes easy with this addiction.

QFT! I've semi-successfully quit twice. Once for about 6 months...the other time for just under 18 months...but..."Just when I think I have it beat...they drag me back in."

My dad says quitting smoking is easy. He should know, he's done it a thousand times.

I can really relate to that. I made it through yesterday and I even made it through my first cup of coffee without a smoke. Getting some pretty good withdrawals and I am hacking up some weird stuff.

I'm holding on to this anger for a bit. I really am pissed at smokes, I think this is actually a healthy anger.

Good for you man. I've had about 5 since last October.

Summer's coming though... hockey / volleyball / slopitch on consecutive nights... it'll be hard as fuck for me to not start again with all the drinkin & smokin goin on.......

Be vigilant brah

Day 2 morning is the real killer. I never suffered so much in my life. It starts with a headache and a sense of panic in my chest and grows increasingly ubearable. By nightfall, I felt feverish, sweaty and all I wanted to do was punch walls. Smoking weed made it worse, coffee made it worse, food made it worse, talking, thinking, having sex, reading, watching TV, using the computer, driving, being at work, being at home, being outside, working outside, working out -- all made it worse. The only thing that made it easier was sleeping. Nothing like getting over a nic fit with a 5 hour mid-day nap. :/

I really need to quit again. ARGH.

I think it is obvious that NSFW is exerting his stance of dominance.
😉
Works great when picking up chicks.

This is true. Proper stance is key to picking up chicks without injury. Particularly if you decide to pick up a tubby.

ANd not so young but somewhat young guy points out that it's "bawls" not "balls" unless you're trying to suggest that a baby can be 'ballin''

I am just done with smokes. They went up $1 a pack this month and are going up another $1 a pack next month. $7 a day for what? For fuck's sake...I don't need that.

What?? Only $7 a day is a bargain - just think of what you are getting - uhhh - slow death by lung cancer! Err, yellow teeth; no, wait - you smell like this ashtray!

OK, nevermind, you are making a great choice and I wish you the best of luck!

Yeah I'm talking to you cigarettes! 15 years of my life I have been your slave. Well its over. All you have given me in return for my years of loyalty are a couple of black lungs and a pile of butts outside.

I'm done.

Feel free to replace the replaced title with something else appropriate that doesn't include F-bombs. (And, you may remove this little note after you do.) Good luck trying to kick the habit. -Anandtech Moderator DrPizza

Thanks doc!

First, good job NSFW. Your lungs, teeth, breath, body, and quality of later life thank you. 🙂

Second, DrPizza is a totally asset to this board as a moderator. Whoever asked him to mod did this board a great service.

Good luck I quit almost 7 years ago and haven't regretted it.

I smoked about 26 27 years when I quit.

Stay strong and the cravings will diminish over time.

Good job, ever since smokes transformed into 6 bucks a pack I've been smoking a lot less. These cigarette taxes are raising far too quickly for me to support my habit.

GL.... I know plenty of people who could never get rid of that habit

Try replacing it with something, like gum or sunflower seeds
