Being a champion debater (from my own alma mater in fact), you should know that your own personal credentials neither add to nor subtract from the validity of the arguments presented here.

Personally, I think I'm right because I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

In fact, I don't rant endlessly about taxes. I rant endlessly about how you fools think that all ills in our society can be fixed by raising taxes. There's a huge difference there, but I don't expect you to appreciate it.

Please... take my shovel. It's slower than your backhoe.

You keep using that word. I do not think it means, what you think it means.

Uh... a backhoe is an excavation machine widely-known for digging holes much faster than handheld shovels.

You pass vocabulary, but fail cultural references.

Vic, your slipping man, but I have to give you props for not throwing a tantrum today and threatening to kick anyones ass like a 5 year old.

I have to go to work, thanks for the fun.

Despite my occasional use of profanity for emphasis, I do like to keep the forums somewhat clean.

And yeah, that was the Princess Bride. I've seen it many times. Inconceivable!

Once again, I've never threatened to kick anyone's ass here. But thanks for lying again. I did tell Craig last week that he hid behind his monitor after he was especially insulting in one thread, but that's not the same thing, now is it? No. You must peel your apples before you eat them, and core your oranges.

I am legitimately surprised that you have a job. Which megacorp is your master that pays you to post here? :)

Red, you are pretty clueless, I have never bought a coffee from starbucks in my life, nor have I bought a CD in 8 years now.

If you are going to stereotype, try coming somewhere within a million miles of your target.

You are trying to lie, vic - you were an ass, and I told you that you would not get an answer as a result. You then lied and lied in several further responses, not accepting it.

No one has indicated any agreement with your view. Why don't you leave your behavior in the other thread, unless you want to makde yourself look bad to even more people?

Message boards always have that weakness that only the moderation can keep them from becoming sewers.

You are the same poster, vic, who is the first ever in this forum to go into the area of RL violence and have me end interaction with you, as well - I'd forgotten that earlier.

YOu don't get the high road, you forfeited that.

Well it was an educated guess as Tower Records and Starbucks seem to be the preferred places of employment for your average stuck in the 90's Green Haired Anarchist.

I have posted this before and I will probably end up posting this again. Not only am I probably the only poster here who has even been to Venezeula, I also have family that lives there. Chavez isn't exactly the "hero" of the people some make him out to be. The country is heading in the direction of his hero Fidel where if you criticize the government you end up in prison or worse........

If he's so bad how come he keeps winning by large margins?

I didn't threaten you in that other thread. You're confused and should read it again.

Why did GW win in 2000 and again in 2004? Because he (indirectly and through use of the government coffers) pays people to vote for him.

I wouldn't go that far. Besides Bush didn't get the popular vote in 2000 and barely won in 2004 (even running against a dope like Kerry) On the other hand Chavez is winning by large margins and those overseeing the vote say it's on the up and up. I understand that he's using the oil profits of better the lives of his constituents but isn't that what it's for?

He's still paying people to vote for him. And I don't make the statement lightly. If you look closely, that's what his entire platform is about. I too have genuine concern for the plight of the poor, but not to the radical extent of allowing an authoritarian leader to bribe votes under that guise.

It's all about utility. If you ask people they'd rather get hand outs and let government control them than be a democracy that cannot feed them.

No one ever got out of poverty on a handout. Sure, food and housing is a start, and yes basic necessities need to be attended to. Help the poor. But there is no reason why everyone else has to brought down in order to acheive that end, and doing so is actually counter-productive. We'll just all end up poor (with a few rich dictators no less). And if you look closely at the arguments at some of the self-proclaimed selfless here, you'll see that they actually have very little interest in helping the poor, but a lot of motivation in bringing down "the rich." If the wealth of the world was static and absolute, then their position might have merit, and I'd be right with them. But it's not, so they don't, and I'm not anymore so that I would be with any other bitter moralist authoritarian agenda. Oh, if only we could force people from sinning!!

Some people have a skewed view of Freedom. Capitalism/Free Markets are not Freedom, Socialism is not Freedom. What is Freedom is the ability to choose either of those 2, any variation of those 2, or any other Economic system. As long as the People of any Nation is Free to choose their Leaders, they are Free to choose their fate. Democracy and only Democracy is the only Institution that ensures Freedom.
