was the shooter asian? just wondering.

Before I call you a bigot, I'm curious as to what the point of your question is.

what's going thru my mind when i heard it... "don't let him be asian, don't let him be asian"...

which was actually posted before when it happened in VT, by another member here... except it was... "dont' let him be chinese" after it was revealed it was an asian.

Gotcha, I can understand that. All people need is another reason to be douches.

For keeping the law abiding unarmed.

Here's hoping everyone is alright, except the piece of trash that committed this. To bad no one could of finished him before he started.

That didnt take long. Youre an ass for even bringing this up.

*Goes to withdraw 2008 NIU law application....

Seriously, I was already worried about attending any IL law schools because they ban carry and are highly restrictive on guns, I would have been a sitting duck with both my handguns in my apartment if I had attended a year earlier.

Condolences to the wounded/injured.

I understand and respect your right as an American to own and carry a weapon, however actually being worried about attending a school because you can't carry? That seems a little much. Its not like this stuff really happens all the time... (although lately it may seem that way)

Why people use guns to shoot others they don't even know eludes my understanding, piece of fucking trash.

Yes, though you can see for yourself their effectiveness at deterring crime and making campus life safer. Criminals WILL get guns illegally, the only thing you do by banning guns is disallow honest students willing to go through a stringent review process from getting guns. Essentially, making them defenseless.

Unfortunately. However, if I were to go back five years when I selected a school, I would have made more of an effort to choose one that wasn't anti-ccw.

He's not alone. Students for Concealed Carry on Campus saw its membership rise to 10k in only 9 months, and now we're growing at 2k a month. These most recent events are probably going to push that even faster. There are a LOT of people out there who feel exactly like Finalnight and I do...which is helpless and nervous about being disarmed and walked into a shooting gallery as the duck of the day.

If there can be any positive outcome from this madness its that very soon we're going to win the fight for our rights.

Considering he is likely to spend 8 hours (or more) on campus every day, I don't see how such sentiments could be considered over the top. I wouldn't work somewhere where I couldn't carry for 8+ hours a day.

Utah is your best bet then. Although there are about twenty public schools that still allow, as well as a number of private schools.

I probably would have traveled 35 minutes from home and attended Colorado State.

crap man, this is almost becoming a regular occurrence. shootings in malls, schools, universities. what's going on?

Those are favorite targets because they're usually full of unarmed, defenseless civvies.

I will refrain from commenting further because my political views will cloud my comments.

Why? Statistically speaking the odds are in your favor that nothing like this will happen in the near future at that school.

My girlfriend was in the Classroom when it happened. Apparently someone shot a shotgun multiple times in to the room, which is a very large lecture hall 400+ seats. She and alot of other students didn't immediately realize what happened, but after the 2nd shot the all started running out of the room.

I was across campus in the engineering building, and managed to get a hold of her. She's really shaken up, and she was hit in the finger by a pellet, but she should be ok.

They have all of the students in one of the large halls in our Student Center for questioning/ medical evals.

Pellet? Bleeding? Unless it was spent, shot would do some nice damage, more or less depending on what he was using.

A single BB from a shotgun hitting you in the hand would not be that big of a deal - unless it was buck shot or something larger than your typical trap load. Trap load has less powder as well and is probably more common for people to have.

True...lightening striking twice and all that.

Then again, the same can be said for any safety measure: smoke detector, fire extinguisher, first aid kit, etc. So long as there's any chance (which there will always be) we'll be nervous as long as we're kept unprepared. Rational or not it can have detrimental effects on our education.

Another sad thing about these shootings is we can expect more to follow, it seems that they spread like plagues wheen there is a new shooting. :(
