Excuse my rant here for a moment. If you are a fanboy, please exit thread now.
I loved my NES. I even loved the SNES. But let me tell you, after that it went downhill. Nintendo needs to get their head out of their collective ass and stop this, "lets try something unique" method. Your N64 was garbage, your Cube was garbage, and I have no doubt your "revolution" will take a paradigm shift to the trash can. Sony's 32-bit system brought the smackdown on the N64 by using new technology that, OMG, worked better. Not to mention they made probably the nicest controller design on the market at the time, which was so good they used it again for their 2nd console. What did Nintendo do? Went from bad to worse. The N64 controller was too big and you couldn't use all the buttons without 3 hands. The new controller is ugly, cheap feeling, and has the wierdest most uncomfortable button setup ever. And it's clearly designed for kids. You don't support DVDs like your competitors, smart.
Unique is not better. Different is not better. Reinventing something is not better. Streamlining, quality, listening to customers, that's how you get better. NES beat the Atari easy, it's not a hard decision to switch. Up until the N64, they didn't have much competition. Dreamcast and Playstation layed the smackdown, and it's been downhill since. The DS might be pretty good, but the PSP is better IMO. Maybe it's just me, but it seems like one company is more interested in me while the other is more interested in being "unique".
