I'm actually surpsied here that there is a debate about PS2 vs. Gamecube in terms of graphics simply because in almost every 3rd party game review I read, you see phrases like "the Xbox and Gamecube versions look almost identical while the PS2 lags behind a little". I don't think it's that the PS2 graphics look much worse, but loses some of the details.
I own an Xbox & Gamecube, and my friend has a PS2, and I did notice that my Gamecube Need for Speed looked better than his PS2 version. But that's just a personal observation on that particular game.
But really, I don't think there is much debate that in terms of graphics power, the PS2 lags behind the GC and Xbox.

The bigger the crap, the bigger the hype. Every game system says this same thing.

That's good to hear. But despite all their kafuffle about "Online Enabled out of the Box" ... I didn't see any mention of conventional wired connectivity - just "The Latest Wireless Technology." Unless you guys plan on bundling a WAP with your console, or making the console ACT as one, you can just stop right there.

I bet one of the things they are going to boast is simplicity... e.g. no wires. I bet it will have built in wireless recievers for controllers or something like that.

Dreamcast and Playstation layed the smackdown
Are you serious about Dreamcast laying the smack down? I bought one, it was bad, plain and simple.
I enjoyed my n64 much more than I ever enjoyed my playstation or dreamcast. [I'm sure many will agree with me there]
Gamecube isn't amazing, and no internet is teh suxxors.
It's obviously targeted towards kids, get over it. Do you want mario with his pants down or something?
The dreamcast was 10x what the n64 was, it even did things not even the playstation did. It is perhaps the coolest system sega ever came out with, and MANY people were disappointed that it didn't work out. The controls were good, the games were good, the system used better technology. If given the choice, hands down I would choose either the PS1 or DC over the n64. Heck, I'd choose a good ol' NES over the N64.
True true. The Dreamcast was a console truly worthy of being successful in its own right. Just damn sega for having a horrible marketing dept...I noticed that things went down for the DC after their mass media blast of Space Channel 5 where Icould not watch a commercial break during a show without being bombarded by an ad for that game atlesat twice~ at that time they should have stayed more convesrvative till they have cash reserves to play around.
But the Dreamcast was 10x what the 64 was to me. The PSX is 10x was tthe 64 to me~ between teh DC and PSX I couldn't decide...
I remember when the 64 came out I spent THREE DAYS trying to find one to rent from Block buster. I finally got one by keeping my dad drive back and forth to the store for me...we rented it for three days and I had a BLAST playing Wayne Gretsky's 3d hockey! BUT...the controller was hard to hold, and i noticed the analogue was wearing down pretty fast!
When I came back and sat to really chosose over a Psx or N64 a few years later...I played the 64 and that excitement in the games was never really there for me~ games o the PSX was getting and hooking me like crazy (Final Fantasy 7 and Coolboarders2 [which is better than 1080] anyone?)
To me, a loyal NES fan (who when I was three thought that all games were "nintendo" games) and SNES fan I was so uninspired by the 64 after that initial rush wore off...whereas to this day I have a lot of fun playing games on the PSX.

For the record, I thought the GC was a fairly well designed console, despite its lack of DVD and ethernet capabilities. It game lineup was just pathetic, with a few exceptions, like the Zelda and RE titles.
