p1 is "backordered " and coolpix 800 is cancelled? looks like they're trying to pull that brooklyn camera shop crap on us. :|

I just called in. They said the P1 sold out early last night, and many of the orders that came in later last night will be cancelled.

They said there would be no backorders on it either...

?

I don't think I'm getting mine...

Coolpix 800 CANCELLED! Just called. The CSR was extremely nice and apologetic. She said cancellation emails should go out tonight--they were trying to scrounge up some more but were unsuccessful.

well, the sony dscp1 is a no go as well, CSR said out of stock and now looking in their warehouses, ordered around 6:30 pm last night

pinkpanther--did the CSR say your order (6:30 pm) was definitely cancelled?

BlueMysticWarrior--was your order cancelled or fulfilled?

Just got off phone w/ CSR. All orders that "under review" for canon elura 2 or sony will be cancelled. I ordered the sony @ 6:46pm EST, if that is helpful for anyone.

I second what Boogak said. I have a 48mb card in my 800, and it will hold over 500 of the low-resolution photos I use for work. Don't rely on the slow serial connection. I bought a couple of Lexar compactflash cards when they were giving away the USB "Jumpshot" cable for free, so that's what I use and transfer of files from the card to the pc are quick and easy. The only drawback to the camera is that its flash is kinda weak, but for this price (I paid about $360 when I got mine), I think this is a great deal.

I bought a D-40 today morning @ $383.86 (after 20%), not bad for a camera which retails for $599. I just called and they said it's under processing. However so far no Email. Does any body bought D-40 and got Email confirmation?

response to an email i sent:

i give them a 4/10 for service, they should do a better job of contacting customers, i shouldn't have to chase them down.

now i need to find a good place to order one from so Blue will give me one last PM.

I placed my order for the P1 at about 5:30PM PST yesterday. No confirmation yet. I hope it goes through. This camera was discontinued last fall so I doubt they had many left.

if i were them, see the sales gone thru the roof, i would held back all the inventory and sell them BM for a less discounted price for more profit.

PinkPanther: The problem with that strategy would be that eventually you would end up like those "One Star" shops which people use to price match but don't buy from!

Q

Just got my cancellation e-mail (see below). Looks like they thew it together in 3 minutes. The subject of my e-mail is "Camera Promotion.doc", but there is no attachment.

If I placed two orders, does this cancellation e-mail serve both orders? It's not very detailed, and doesn't contain much info--

Well now...I guess that's it. I'll just wait for my cancellation email.

Just got order confirmation for Sony P1 for $282.74 after 2-day shipping and tax. Not sure if the camera will come though because I was told

<< Your credit card will not be charged until the order has shipped. You will receive a confirming email with the appropriate tracking information. >>

which means the order can still be cancelled. Wellz, maybe I should check if my cc has been charged.
